  1. 1:41:00 ~ 1:42.20 Sums it up perfectly.
  2. I don’t drink coffee, but maybe that one would suit me… 😉
  3. Depends where you are financially. If you’re just starting off, land a job at $100K, likely you don’t have much/anything in savings, and your down payment would be minimal. now your in a position where you’re dependent on your only monthly income to cover the mortgage. But if you’ve been working 20 years, you ‘should’ have savings/investments built up. You put more down, lessen the monthly, have a ‘cushion’ to cover some payments outside your salary. It’s a more ‘breathable’ scenario.
  4. Always a good idea to know where you came from.
  5. Filter Square in Philly has an average income of $102K, and the average home costs $940K. Common minimum % down is 5%, or $47,000. I don't think folk going into that scenario are too cash-strapped / living paycheck-to-paycheck to be unable to scrape together -say- $8K for a vehicle DP.
  6. Lo-ooong term transition; most independent owner/operators won't be able to afford a BE semi. You force what can't be afforded and you basically bankrupt people from their livelihoods.
  7. A lockdown Friday morning at the General Motors proving grounds prompted by a fake gun — part of work on an emergency vehicle in development — "turned out to be nothing," Milford police later said. GM confirmed that it was a "false alarm." "There was a workplace situation earlier today," Maria Raynal, a GM spokeswoman, clarified. "Police responded accordingly. All employees are safe. Work has resumed at the campus." The incident, which sent social media into a frenzy, was first reported by WWJ. Just before 10 a.m., two buildings went into lockdown, the radio station said, after a tipster reported seeing a massive law enforcement response, which including Oakland County Sheriff's deputies. Initially, there was concern a barricaded gunman was in the facility. GM develops police vehicles. A person familiar with Friday’s incident told the Free Press that engineers were carrying fake guns to aid in the project. Someone apparently saw them and thought an active shooter may have been in the building and called police. The fake guns were “inert mock-ups of police firearms,” a source familiar with GM’s work on police vehicles said. They are used as part of the validation process for the vehicles GM makes for law enforcement agencies, the person confirmed. Milford Police confirmed with the Free Press later that officers were at the Proving Grounds, but said there was no threat and any details about the incident would need to come from GM. According to WWJ, Milford Police Chief Chief Tom Lindberg said a technician was spotted on video entering one of the buildings carrying a rifle. But, he added, the weapon was not real. This article originally appeared on Detroit Free Press: Lockdown at GM Proving Ground in Milford was a false alarm
  8. This whole 'we're gonna beat you to market by X months' is really much to do about nothing. If the 'whole industry' is going the way of BE motive power, everyone will get there at some point and no one will remember who was first.
  9. The problem I think a lot of people had [right or wrong], is that the 'facts' have steadily shifted over the last 2 years, but at every point there were still vocal platforms demeaning folk for asking questions or challenging the 'then facts'. I think everyone is aware of the rushed nature of the pandemic uprising and the mad scramble to develop treatment(s), but the aforementioned is still going to stick with some folk, and they're going to resist. The above is not me; I'm fully dosed - I stayed close to home & watched numerous news sources when the vaccine initially came out, and after a short while, when no mass ill effects were reported, I got on board. But I also take everything out of D.C. with a healthy pinch of salt- they're general fuckups down there who need interns to velcro their dress shoes on. F 'em.
  10. Infant / youth mortality rates in the distant past greatly pulled down average lifespan numbers. There were plenty of old-age adults living to ages we see today back when.
  11. Average adult born 100 years ago was only 3’6” tall.
  12. We were car shopping in '05 and looked at that new generation GP. Neither my wife or I cared for the interior, but the seats, esp the back seat, were horribly uncomfortable. So we picked up an '03 GP instead.
  13. Will be interesting to read the dimensions of the BE Equinox vs. the IC variant.
  14. 1. I didn't address the 'flatness', we were talking about the HEIGHT of the components relative to each other. Photos of show car displays doesn't tell us where things are relative to each other. 2. You state it's "false" that a skateboard platform is not flat, then you posted pics of a BE skateboard-built car with a 'transmission hump' sticking up 4-5 inches into the pass compartment. Remember, this sub-discussion was all about whether a BE Equinox would have more, less or the same interior room.
  15. If you also noticed, both the chassis & the tires are sitting on vertical 'pins', so I would certainly not use that opening pic as any sort of evidence of 'where things sit'. We need a production-spec car sitting on the ground, or legitimate OEM specs.
