In my opinion, that is just God awful. It looks like a clown car you would see at the circus.

  5. Chevy will give Alpha the volume it needs to make it cost efficient. My personal opinion is, that GM needs to assign more resources to the platform to get it done sooner, not later.

  16. Automotive News September 1, 2008 - 12:01 am ET This year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance celebrated General Motors' centennial with the display of 20 of the automaker's Motorama cars. Today they're called concept cars, but in the '50s they generally were called "cars of the future." One Motorama car in particular made a lasting impression on a young Ed Welburn, now GM's design vice president. "What was the first Motorama car I saw? I was 8 years old. It was the Philadelphia auto show. I was crazy about cars, and the Cadillac Cyclone was there," Welburn said in California at the Pebble Beach event. "It was an incredible experience for me. It is just like I saw it a week ago, sitting there at the Philadelphia auto show. That car is one of the reasons why I wanted to be a car designer — not only a car designer, but a car designer for General Motors. It is a very special car for me." 19. (Vindicator (Youngstown, OH) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sep. 5--LORDSTOWN -- General Motors is asking its midnight shift workers at its Lordstown complex if they would come in for extra Saturday hours so it can pump out more cars to dealers. "We're trying to work as much overtime as we can so we can satisfy demand," said Chris Lee, a GM spokesman. The complex has overtime scheduled the next four Saturdays, although the number of shifts will vary. Only two shifts had been scheduled for this Saturday, but GM has determined it needs to boost production further. The plant produces about 500 cars a shift. The added production stands to be welcomed by dealers that sell the Chevrolet Cobalt made at the plant. U.S. sales of the Cobalt fell by 27 percent last month, but a local car dealer said that was because supply was low. Barry Gonis, general manager of Spitzer Chevrolet in North Jackson, said he couldn't get enough cars to sell in August because of strong sales in previous months. He said he is carrying more than three times his normal inventory of Cobalts in September so he can meet customer demand. Link: http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/-chevy-cobal.../05/3635811.htm
  20. In 1969 or 1970 they switched to Pontiac, I remember as a kid when I watched the reruns they went to Salem, MA in the episodes. Samantha was driving a convertible Pontiac Executive, I think it was.
  21. Well this is going to be an embarrassing confession, but here goes - In 2001, I traded in my 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI for a Yellow Pontiac Aztek, not only did I trade the Bonneville in, but at the time I ordered the Yellow Aztek (yes I did an Employee Order Option 1). Azteks were on hold by GM and the Yellow paint was restricted, this was during Easter 2001. My dearler called the Saturday before Easter, and told me the news about the Azteks being on hold and the paint. So I decided, I was not going to wait. I logged into the GM Vehicle Ordering System and released my order number and took the yellow paint code off hold for just my Aztek only. Needless to say, my Aztek was produced and shipped the very next week to the dealer, I also gave my Aztek the highest priority to the rail-line for shipping. My dealer called the Tuesday after Easter saying GM had just confirmed that the order was produced and should be here in two weeks, he didn't know I changed that too. So in one week my Aztek was produced, shipped and received at the dealership. (My dealer still tells his employees about that). At 1st it was cool to see people pointing at the Aztek and saying oh look an Aztek, one driver almost ran off I-64 outside Richmond Virginia when he saw it. But then I noticed people would point at it and laugh, it was time to get rid of it, so 6 months later I traded it in for a New 2002 Grand Prix GT. It remained at my dealership for 5 years, they used it as a loaner for people in for repairs. So 2001 Pontiac Aztek was my shortest vehicle I owned, 6 months total. 1969 Pontiac Custom-S I've had the longest (25 years), had it since I was 14, could not drive it for 2 years, it was the longest 2 years of my life. This car and I are the same age, and I still love it after all this time.
