1st day at new job
Believe it or not 68, most UAW & CAW workers that I know, work pretty damn hard and actually care about their jobs. Oh I ain't no blue-collar worker either. I be a white-collar worker! See your stereotypical remarks really don't hold much water, but then, you've never worked in a UAW assembly plant, so how would you know?

Australia a top spot for vanishing languages
WASHINGTON - Linguists alarmed at the increasing extinction of many indigenous languages identified five global "hot spots" on Tuesday where the problem is worst, led by northern Australia and a region of South America. The linguists are part of the Enduring Voices project that seeks to document and revitalize languages slipping toward oblivion, often spoken by indigenous peoples like Australia's aborigines whose cultures were trampled by settlers. David Harrison of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, the project's co-director, said there are 6,992 recognized distinct languages worldwide. He said on average one language vanishes every two weeks, often as its last elderly speakers perish. The project, backed by National Geographic magazine, named the region of northern Australia that includes Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia as the place where local languages are most threatened. The linguists said aboriginal Australia harbors some of the most endangered languages, with 153 different ones spoken in this region. A region of central South America covering Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Bolivia was second on the list of "hot spots," with indigenous languages being overcome by Spanish, Portuguese or other indigenous languages. Jay Leno Becomes BMW Hydrogen 7 Pioneer
The latest addition to Jay Leno’s incredible collection of automobiles is one of BMW’s hydrogen-powered 7-series sedans. Mr. Leno is well-known for his love of cars and follows in the footsteps of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Richard Gere and Sharon Stone by taking the keys to a Hydrogen 7. The green theme of the 7-series is echoed in Leno’s massive 20,000 square-foot garage, which is largely powered by steam. Another notable “green” car in Leno’s collection is his bio-diesel-fueled EcoJet from the 2006 SEMA show. The Hydrogen 7 is powered by a V-12 with 260 horsepower and runs on traditional gasoline or liquid hydrogen. Cruising range is approximately 125 miles on hydrogen and 300 miles on gasoline. Leno is certainly an excellent choice to represent BMW’s achievements on the hydrogen front and will probably appreciate the car more than other celebrities who have been handed the keys since he loves cars. Expect to hear more about other high-profile Hydrogen 7 deliveries in the coming months. Article continues: http://news.windingroad.com/body-stylesmar...ogen-7-pioneer/

Maryland court upholds same-sex marriage ban
BALTIMORE - Maryland’s highest court on Tuesday upheld a state law defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, ending a lawsuit filed by same-sex couples who claimed they were being denied equal protection under the law. Maryland’s 1973 ban on gay marriage does not discriminate on the basis of gender and does not deny any fundamental rights, the Court of Appeals ruled in a 4-3 decision. It also said the state has a legitimate interest in promoting opposite-sex marriage. Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20839946/
