NASA quietly revises temperature data
Like everyone here, I'm no scientist, but based on reason and logic alone, I think it's rather odd to believe that pouring tons of gases into the atmosphere - those that wouldn't have been there without us - will have no side effects on us whatsoever. And while there may be debate over the actual "tipping point" of irreversibility (most scientists say 500 ppm CO2), rather than speaking in absolutes, how about a simple philosophy of minimizing energy waste whenever possible? Just because we have new conflicting tidbits of information isn't cause for several smoky burnouts.

Top 10: politically incorrect cars
Only THREE were American. Five were German, one was Japanese, and one was British. This is a list of un-PC cars, not bad ones. Get over it.

New Morocco Brown interior for '08 AURA
The black/tan cloth interior really is quite nice for the price. The optional leather is so thin and shiny that it doesn't help at all.

2008 Chevy Malibu on Chevrolet.com
The pushrod 3.5 is probably there to bring the V-6 closer to class leaders in fuel economy. This way Chevy can offer both 252 horsepower AND 18/29 MPG, albeit not at the same time. The 3.6 gets 17/26.

Where have you gone Maureen McCormick?
From close to when I was born to now, our city demographics haven't really changed much... 1990 Census Population: 41,659 White: 72.40% Black: 1.71% Asian: 20.66% Pacific-Islander: 0.18% Amer-Indian: 0.05% Other: 1.15% Hispanic: 5.07% Population over age 64: 12.0% Population under age 18: 21.3% Median income: $87,525 2000 Census Population: 41,145 White: 63.14% Black: 1.98% Asian: 25.95% Pacific-Islander: 0.10% Amer-Indian: 0.15% Other: 1.21% Hispanic: 5.68% 2+ races: 3.39% Population over age 64: 18.7% Population under age 18: 23.0% Median income: $105,586 2007 Estimate Population: 43,092 Last time I checked, we're still in Los Angeles County proper (Rancho Palos Verdes), and we still have tons of Greg and Marcias. There are lots in West LA and the Beach Cities, too (in that they're white - SaMo, Malibu, Westwood, Hermosa, Manhattan, etc) and the San Gabriel Valley as well (in that they're suburbs - Pasadena, San Marino, Diamond Bar, etc.) I guess it depends on your definition of Maureen McCormickland: if you want white, suburb, and affordable, then you're right, there aren't any in LA county. Edit: Lots of Greg and Marcias in Torrance, too.

80's cars that didn't suck
Forgot to mention '80s BMWs... 'doh. Sure, the original 2002 in the '70s started it all, but it was in the '80s when they became common, especially in places like Newporsche Beach.

80's cars that didn't suck
When I think '80s I think Volvo (parents had a 740 Turbo, 760 diesel, and 240), Audi (when the Quattro turned things around), VW (Rabbit, Fox, Scirocco; the good old days), Saab (900!), Mercedes (parents had a yellow 300SD), Datsun/Nissan (280Z?), and the Chrysler minivan. For Europe, Ford stands out the most... Sierra Cosworths, Escorts, etc.

Buick and Lexus are tied for reliability
It isn't surprising to see Lexus, Buick, Cadillac, Toyota, Acura, and Honda up there... what is surprising is Jaguar, Mercedes, and Mercury, especially since Ford is below industry average. What's so special about those Mountaineers..

2008 Chevy Malibu on Chevrolet.com
The site is a bit flash, cheesy, and hard to read with all that glitter and bold font, IMO. Chevy's print ads are far superior. More and more consumers are doing research online, and it'd help to spend more on a more professional site. About the car, it looks great as usual. The black cloth interior looks promising. It doesn't have the nasty sheen of cheap leather, it isn't as dreary as gray, and the contrasting stitching is a nice touch. I think the Ultrasuede on the 2LTs will be even better. Also, the Fusion doesn't have ESC available, although they say it's "optional" in the comparitron. And there's no mention of the six-speed four-cylinder and four-speed six-cylinder yet. Wonder what the wheel choices look like. The 18" five-spokes should be optional under "2LT" not "Hybrid," as the Engine Package comes with the V-6. Site looks like a rush job..

GM's Warranty: "Still The Best"
Ehh, most people drive more than 12K mi/yr now. I would hate to have our Odyssey transmission clunk out at 61K miles. In this poll, 22% had theirs replaced between 50K-100K: http://www.odyclub.com/forums/showthread.p...;threadid=29058

Honda FCX, First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Acknowledged by IRS for $12,000 Fed Tax Credit
But at least they exist. People are leasing them. Yes, the Volt "can" run on hydrogen, in the same way that cars in the future "can" get 1,000 MPG. But it actually hasn't been done. GM's existing fuel-cell efforts are with the HydroGen3 and upcoming FC Equinox.

GM's Warranty: "Still The Best"
Perhaps GM should consider offering extended warranties for certain vehicles as incentives. If, say, a Cobalt had a 5/100K bumper-to-bumper warranty, that would give it "the best warranty of any car."

Honda's Latest Van Adverts
Ehh, for the past eight years it has been the Odyssey. Especially when we bought ours back in 2002, there was no contest... it was easily better than any other minivan. 2002 Sienna? Still first-generation 2002 Quest? Gutless and cramped 2002 Venture? Underpowered and unsafe 2002 MPV? Cool features, but tiny 2002 Sedona? Overweight and slow 2002 Windstar? Ancient 2002 Grand Caravan? Roomy but lacking any clever minivan features 2002 Odyssey? Largest interior, greatest cargo area, best handling, fold-into-hole third row, second row "magic seats", first row folding tray, navigation, 240 hp, 5-speed auto
