  1. Oh wait... I thought Toyota was the top seller in America? At least according to the media when they spin the numbers to include Sky-on (Scion) I want to give a big "who cares?" to this issue. I mean it's nice to have the title, but unless either company can sustain it without adding HUGE incentives, it's just another way to spin numbers and sell out the company... All the while GM and Ford are blindly battling themselves, the japanese are moving in for the kill.
  2. GMT800 was a HUGE success. Okay, I will if it suits me. Hey, I even admitted that I would probably be wrong, but to not discuss our opinions just because they're not "popular" would be pretty "Lame" too. I never claimed to be right, or that this was my final judgement, it's just my opinion at the moment and what *COULD* happen. And yes, Lutz hasn't really shown me a thing yet. Eventhough the Solstice is nice, there is more to running GM than a 'pet project' low volume WELL cliniced roadster. Oh, I know... And it's PURE speculation and opinion and was meant to be taken as nothing more. I dunno why I'm skeptical; something about it has just triggered negativity. (Maybe all of the "It's better than sex" hoopla) Yeah, I'm not sure.
  3. I'm not so sure... There are a lot of negatives already with fuel instability and anti-SUV :bs: Add to that a subtraction of the distinctive looks that MADE the Escalade in the first place and an almost equally impressive and identical looking Denali except without the frivolous add ons and we instantly have "the bad old days" of the K1500 based Escalade. STYLE makes Cadillac because that has been it's MAJOR selling point since the re-vamp and even in the golden days and that's what it's target audience gravitates to. Why is it so hard for Lutz and co. to realize that? No style=No success, at least in that niche.
  4. That's a stroke of genius.... OFFENSIVE attitudes are needed BADLY in Detroit!
  5. I think "retiring" before your career is over is a cop out on your fans. I went through the whole Garth Brooks "I'm retired, I'm back, I'm retired, I'm moving, I'm back, I'm retired, I've got the life but I just don't know so I'll cry about it." bullsh*t (Back when I was optimistic and listened to country exclusively) so I have no empathy for quiters. Unfortunately in the process of Garth walking away from being the biggest music star in the world at that time, he 1) lost his edge in the market and 2) Became a sap and started putting out pop-whine crap. Kinda like KISS, haven't they been "retiring" since like 1998? Anyway.... <_<
  6. {As FOG weeps with Mach5GTP for the same reason} Yes, the plaque denotes that this is one of the first 1000 Solsti. You know, the allotment for "The Aprentice"
  7. Oh yeah... Well, scratch that idea I guess.
  8. I know... And I'll be one of the first to admit guilt. But that's a good thing... That GM can win over a skeptic.
  9. Found this little jewel in Charlotte this weekend, actually, Cavigirl found it. Morrison Motor Cars #3, it's a very cool lot. He had this, a 10th anniversary SVT Cobra (On the left) and a few Z06's, a WS6 and a couple Camaro SS. Also had a Special Edition convertible Trans Am (2002) and SSR couple of the supercharged Ford trucks (HD edition and Lightning) and a Mustang Cobra R among other things. The lot was closed, so we couldn't get inside it and someone had obviously been driving it (It was dirty) Oh yeah, and if someone wants to downsize these I'll re-post them. I can't since I'm at school right now. $30,900 and it's yours. The tag bracket would have to go. Anniversary SVT in the background. Such a small Pontiac emblem on the back. Cameo by the Focus :) First 1000 plaque
  10. :rotflmao: Oh and uh... :worthless:
  11. I love Eminem and Dre. HATE "fiddy sent" though... No talent.
  12. You know, I was thinking about this and it is my opinion that the Super name might just work well IF it is followed up by something. Example: Buick Lacrosse Super 6 or Buick Lucerne Super 8. Maybe a little cheesy? I dunno, but I think it sounds better than just "Super" (Thanks for asking--sorry couldn't resist) Oh, and the numbers denote the amount of cylinders, if you couldn't tell.
  13. I'm not too impressed... It's not as substantial as the old Escalade and definately not as radical looking (Which is a bad thing) The slim headlights just don't work well with Art & Science as they look awkward from certain angles with the huge Cadillac grille. The SRX was okay and has never sold well, the DTS okay too and is selling well, but how much on looks? And now it seems as if the Escalade will just be "okay" as well. Cadillac is losing it's momentum.... and apparently the Escalade is going to look like an upper trim level to the already controversial Yukon... with a contrived appearance that loses all of the divisions unique-ness. Come to think of it, I don't think ANY GM division is unique anymore.. They're all a mismatch of RANDOM watered down styling "templates" I think it is LESS distinctive than the last generation BY FAR... Same EXACT greenhouse, same headlight setup as the Yukon, same sides as the Yukon AND Tahoe... With the only distinctions being the chrome mirrors, the Cadillac grille and the side vent. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but that's a pretty clear picture.
  14. After being very underwhelmed with the details of the regular Malibu and Maxx I looked at an SS (it was Silverstone) for the first time last night and can say I was VERY impressed. 10 times better than the craptacular GM PR shots. The Chevrolet SS wheels have really grown on me and they look especially good on the Maxx (The added weight of the wagon-esque profile complements the weighty look of the wheels very well) The "SS" badge on the side is placed correctly instead of awkwardly in never-never land like on the Impala and some of the first Cobalts. And the new nose looks excellent with it's more agressive grille material and bright accents, I also think the subtle chin scoop found on the SS (Like on a SC-SS Cobalt compared to a regular Cobalt SS) adds A LOT of character to the Malibu front end and it amazes me that such a little change can do so much, as I think the front of the regular Malibu/Maxx is too block-like. Anyway, Sweet car! AND a very attractive deal since it was only 5K more than the Cobalt SS (regular not SC-ed) sitting next to it.
  15. Cavigirl and I are going to try to go. Thought about taking the train up (If we can) or maybe driving. We'll only be there for a few days though since Cavigirl can't miss much class.
  16. DAMN! Well, it looks like Toyota's conquests are catching up with them. Too bad this won't receive any major press, either through not effecting vehicles here or the press not wanting it to get out. I'm sure the Japanese themselves are so snowed in their own glory that this sort of thing rolls off their backs like water to a duck. Anybody see a recurring theme with stalling Toyotas lately? Hopefully the whole company will begin to stall soon (Yeah right... I can wish though) Nice "Detroit style" recap at the end of the article.. TOO BAD, just too bad that no one will run the story here.
  17. Not good news....
  18. Because they're sheep.... They're the same people that believe the import rhetoric hook, line and sinker. CR worries me... IT seems that they have gained A LOT of popularity around here... I hope they are as discredited as you all say. Anyone have any media bashing them?
  19. Now PROMOTE it!!!!!!!
  20. The reason the coupes are split from the sedans is because SEDANS are the majority of sales... They just throw GM a bone on the coupes.
  21. Of course, it's american. Which pretty much makes the ratings worthless, that's roughly a 16% response rate... NOT GOOD! Of course, no doubt to give the asians easier thoroughfare into the market. Just like the mainstream media, they now have asian trucks to reccomend, so they NO LONGER NEED american offerings, those were just reccomended for lack of a better offering. Good thing the Maxx made it though, just in time to be canned.
  22. The industry as a whole is slow.... I'm impressed by the incentive reductions though. We all knew it would be painful, so did GM. But the trends are cautiously opimistic. GM PLEASE don't over do it again!! Nice correlation to Wal-Mart by the author, to emphasize cheapness BTW.
  23. It's Motor Trend... What do you expect? These are the very same idiots that spent half a page in the front of the November issue explaining and justifying how and why domestics are gaining HP while the imports are losing under the new system, BLATANTLY making sure to excuse the import companies for their inaccurate measurements (It's even pretty much a disclaimer) Then at the end of the article say "Meh, what's a 197 HP Civic Si compared to a 200HP Civic Si? So long as it's accurate, the extra lost ponies don't matter much" Then in the back of the very same issue on the long term test of the Titan they put "Most horsepower in it's class" as a main selling point. For those of you who don't know, it has a mere 5 HP advantage over the F-150. So... I guess a few ponies don't matter much when an import loses them, but they're a deal breaker when the import has an edge over a domestic?!?!?!? These people REVEL in this deceit and I'm sure they're more than happy that Detroit is seeing hard times now.
  24. A few more comments: tmp nailed that one. I'm the same way. When I get angry the first thing I do is find the nearest "threat" or "enemy" and completely break that person down. It's especially bad with loved ones, and I even do it here unfortunately. My girlfriend and I were talking about it one night (luckily she is very understanding) and she made this essential point. The simple fact that you understand that you have a problem and are willing to try to change is a monumental step. A lot of people are completely oblivious and still play the blame game. "If so and so hadn;t done that then I (The almighty I) wouldn't have acted that way. There are conflicting theories on this... A lot of psychologists believe that "venting" in fact INCREASES aggression because it increases arousal. While it doesn't help me to vent, it just makes me more riled up, my girlfriend is a firm believer in venting. Different strokes for different folks, just be careful.
  25. Been there.. It magnified the effects for me.. Worst combo I've ever had= Shots of Jagermeister (sp) chased with Arbor Mist... Hell I didn't have to wait 'til morning to puke. The taste was enough to inspire that.
