  1. Made it through... sorta. The plow guy was able to open the main lane, but I think my Tahoe is plowed-in. Arkus and I are about to go check it out. On the upside, we haven't lost power yet. The winds held-off until today, but the danger hasn't passed. Off to the tundra.
  2. Lights just dimmed
  3. You may get your wish, this is way too much winter for PA. This stuff belongs in DF's neck of the woods. This storm puts us over the top, making this the snowiest winter on record - ever. And, a new storm is predicted for monday...
  4. Thanks JB, visibility dropped to zero a moment ago... The wind is coming back.
  5. I'd be happy to let you guys have it...
  6. Like saturday , only worse here.
  7. The thundersnow hasn't returned, and the wind is quiet at the moment. But I can only see a few hundred feet from the house.
  8. Just had a momentary whiteout - couldn't see the barn from my house (about 100" away).
  9. Here comes the wind...
  10. We have about 18" so far, and I expect to lose power at any time. All of the trees and wires are incredibly heavy with snow at this point and I can hear them snapping when I go outside. I may be stranded here shortly without heat and power. If the 45MPH plus winds they are predicting come, it may be a very long time before I can get out of here. And days before I have power back. It's getting very real right about now.
  11. Just happened here a short time ago. Very rare. Momma Nature is pissed!
  12. Getting ugly now, limbs and wires are sagging. Shortly we are expecting both the wind and snow to become even more intense. Not good.
  13. I think it is lead, rather than snow, that I just shoveled. So freakin' heavy!
  14. Snowing pretty hard here after about 10" overnight, then rain/sleet/freezing rain, and back to snow. Going to do some shoveling to get the wet, heavy, stuff out of the way while I still can. I'll check in later.
  15. Well, that adventure was interesting! The Tahoe plowed right through the 8-10" of snow and I met the plow guy I found to handle the job at the end of the lane. So I left the Tahoe with Arkus there and jumped into his truck. After a successful pass, he backed-up too fast and went off the edge. So, I trudged up the lane to get the Tahoe, then to the barn for a chain, and pulled the plow truck out of the ditch. I guided him through the rest of the job and made it to Wawa and back just fine. I feel a bit better about things now.
  16. Well, time to let the dogs out and attempt my nasty driveway - should be interesting.
  17. My dad used to take us out as a family after big snowstorms - just to see the sights. So yeah, travel in any weather is important to me - it is part of who I am. Let the fearful stay home.
  18. Terribly, terribly, ugly cars. I almost cheered out loud when production ended. And you all know that I love coupes.
  19. It's my driveway that concerns me, the roads are no biggie. I need my Wawa coffee!
  20. And there are too few such souls...
  21. Thanks Ocn. It's already pretty bad out there, but I may try to escape in the Tahoe - just because.
  22. Ugh. Sitting here looking out at all this snow and not being able to fight it really sucks! I just don't know how to act.
  23. If there ever was a single image of pain, that would be it.
  24. ...I will not be plowing a snowstorm. The ROPOS made it through the last massive snowfall, and a second day of cleanup plowing, just fine. But yesterday when I went to move it, reverse was gone from the trans. After a mad dash to find the right trans, all efforts have failed - so for the first time ever, I will not be able to meet my obligations as far as plowing goes. I guess 25 years of not missing a single storm is a pretty good record, but it still makes me feel like $h! to have to admit defeat and bring that streak to a close. Up until today, I had been out there pushing snow in every single snowstorm since '85, and driven in every one since '79. I guess it had to end sometime.
