Generally, I use a compacted base of what is called 2A modified around here (I suspect that it is what you are calling 3/4 blend). Then, depending on what I am paving with (flagstone, brick, concrete pavers, natural stone...) I will use either screenings or sand.

Short is good, but weight distribution isn't so great with a Wrangler. And, from the ones that I've driven, being behind the wheel of one for any length of time is something of a miserable experience. Given the choice, my choice for the ultimate driveway machines are full-size Blazers, and Broncos (Tahoes and Yukons too). They have all the brawn of a full-size truck, but in a tidier package.

The 4.0 is a good engine for plowing with its torquey nature, I just think the Comanche/Cherokee are a more useful wrapper for it than the Wrangler. EDIT: But the Wrangler would still be on my top 3 list here.

Those frames rarely rust out - they are seriously beefy, and the bodies go first. No, something else went on here.

Given the benefit of hindsight (and having been a plowing contractor in 1989), if I were going to get a compact/midsize plow vehicle it would be a Jeep. A Jeep Comanche pickup, that is.

Boy! Is that ever a familiar sight! I've hauled more tonnage of crushed stone in Chevy pickups over the years (and shoveled it out) than I could ever hope to count. So many walkways, so many patios... The old ROPOS has been mostly parked due to the constant downpours over the last few days, but the Tahoe has been running to Lebanon, performing DD duties, and hauling a tractor tire and rim in for a replacement tire.

The jag is of no consequence one way or the other (nor is any Honda, Roger!). Mothertruck has to get done no matter what else I get into. In fact, buying something that will allow me to sell the Tahoe will move that project forward. After all of my hunting, looking, and debating, I may go for a more boring solution that lets me move forward. I need to be making progress even more than I need a cool project.

I like the Camino, but it would be yet another long-term project and I don't need another one of those just now. I'm looking for something that can be up and going in short order and give me the flexibility to start moving other stuff right away. This Pontiac could be that, but I am still considering other options.
