  1. If I decide to check it out, I'll bring starting fluid and see if it will fire on that.
  2. It does look pretty clean in the pics, but I think I'll pass on it for now. I'm really wanting to find something with low mileage, so I will have to gather some more cash before I buy a truck from the way things look now.
  3. Seems to me that the headline should have read Lack of automatic transmissions leads to slow sales start for Dodge Dart Just sayin'.
  4. Yeah, the thing is super clean. But, it is also a gamble since it isn't running. Who knows what sitting that long might have done to it.
  5. My last post was about yesterday's work. Today was light duty, the ROPOS had to haul a few more bits of deadfall and truck the mowing/weedwacking stuff around the property. The Tahoe just had to take out the trash and recycling.
  6. Well, I don't much care for boring cars.
  7. This could make an interesting daily driver for a few months while I sell the Tahoe and find a truck. Might be able to puff the wagon up in the same timeframe, sell it too, and add that to the truck fund. While cruising a V12...
  8. Ha! Yeah, I've just about given up on the truck for now - it's time to do some horse-trading and raise more cash.

  10. Somehow the word "spartan" seems inadequate...
  11. I learned something new today... didn't realize the '72 grille changed (to the two-bar design from '71s single bar). Check the parking/turn lamps for another difference.
  12. A few of the Eastern Red Cedar trees on the property lost their tops in the freak snowstorm last October, and they've been hanging by threads until about two weeks ago when they finally slipped down to a level where I could get at them. I used a heavy duty tie down to attach them to the Tahoe's hitch and pulled them the rest of the way down. Then, it was the ROPOS turn to haul them to the "dump" after I cut them up a bit. Yep, my Chevy trucks work for a living.
  13. Awesome response, Balthy!
  14. Two footnotes: 1) The pictured Sprint SP is actually a '71 2) By 1972 moonshine profits had to be way down, might want to consider a new line of work.
  15. Hmmm, well, this is a tough one. The Sprint SP should most certainly have been included. Here's how I see it. 1) You'd be better-off saving the new car depreciation and going with the 1970 version of any of these cars, gaining a load of horsepower in the process. 2) None of these are exactly subtle on the highway, and won't help you keep a low profile. Maybe a Chevelle "Heavy Chevy" with the decals removed might be a better option. 3) If your old Mercury can last another year, an SD455 Formula would more than make-up for the loss of payload with the speed of delivery and ability to leave those 440 Plymouth cruisers in the dust. 4) Finally, if payload matters, there is only one choice here (well two technically), a debadged 454SS or 454SP is the clear winner. Fast as any of the others, has a bed cover to hide the goods from sight, and comes standard with air shocks so no one knows you're carrying a load of 'shine! EDIT: Upon further reflection, I give a slight nod to the Sprint SP over the Camino SS, just because disguising it would be easier and more effective - No "454" callouts on the fenders to give you away, and the one in the grille unscrews in five minutes with no holes left behind. Both the Sprint and the Camino (Chevelles too) could be ordered with a non- cowl induction domed hood and stripe delete. With the ease of de - badging, and the unlikelihood of someone running hooch in a GMC, the Sprint gets my vote. You'd be pretty stealthy - unless I was the cop.
  16. I remember being happy and optimistic...
  17. So much $h! has hit the fan since then...
  18. Knowing all of that, I thought I should post it.
  19. Three of the best Pontiacs in decades arrayed around you - I doubt you'll forget that day anytime soon!
  20. I'm still jealous of Z that he got to sit behind the wheel of the showcar.
  21. Cool!
  22. First thing I'd like to know is how many still exist.
  23. At this point, I think I'd settle for simply knowing more of the story. I have no real hope of ever getting my hands on one of the G8STs.
