  1. Should the Ute not end up here, needless to say it won't sit well with me. But consider, GM has been taunting me with hints and hopes for over a decade now and with the big reward so close, having it ripped away at the last moment is particularly unpleasant. Let's hope that that does not happen.
  2. Therein lies the danger. Does GM really want to alienate the enthusiasts?
  3. Still, all is not yet lost. It looks as though my sig will finally be changing one way or the other, let's hope for a show appearance of the Ute in some form soon. If I'm disappointed, it's back to the older stuff for me.
  4. Thanks for the thoughts, Hyper. But I'm going to be stubborn on this one. If Smith hadn't been such a waste of oxygen, and Zarella after him, we would have had the sort of car I love for years now. As for new ways of getting performance, the only acceptable option in my view is to change the fuel rather than the cars. There will be no v6s or small cars for me. I'm simply not willing to accept all of that. I will just reach back as far as I have to into the past and buy what I like. That said, anything fitting my taste that slips through the CAFE mess and the beancounters will get my instant attention.
  5. That's it exactly, Ocn. We have been gawking at Holdens for how long now? Still nothing on the lot. I intend to do my part, I will buy what I like and only what I like. I will not settle for a sedan, a V6, or FWD. Isn't going to happen.
  6. Individuality is on life-support.
  7. Come to think of it, in 1970 GM easily had 50 models to meet my criteria. Progress?!
  8. Thanks for that, I needed it.
  9. I'd settle for some variety, any one of the 4 bodystyles I mentioned would do. But sedans are out - now and forever.
  10. What kills me is after all that development, and repeated delays, we end up cheated out of zeta after all. To me that translates to GM missing the boat yet again. We should have had the Holdens here in the nineties.
  11. I know. I'm afraid that I am unbending on all of it. I have to have a truck - so I do. Anything else I buy will be because I want to buy it, so I just have no reason to compromise.
  12. See my earlier post for the criteria. Of your list: 2 are made of unobtanium 3 are undesireable (for me) 1 isn't here yet
  13. Here is the criteria: RWD V8 Manual trans Coupe or Convertible or Wagon or Ute under 40k Total right now from GM: 0 Total in a year + from GM: 1
  14. Doesn't matter - the result is the same.
  15. I have exactly one choice, or rather I will in a year or so. Yippeee
  16. Sure it is, only the rich will get to play.
  17. Well they certainly haven't tried yet. One car here and there won't get the job done.
  18. I'd rather see them actually make an effort at getting B-P-G right than flipping brands around again.
  19. Sorry about the thread hijack, Ven. I'm just royally PO'd right now. A small Buick would make some sense, as would an Alpha Pontiac and the Torrent going to GMC. None of them for me, thanks - but I can see the logic.
  20. Add "under 40k" to the recipe.
  21. I just don't care for the Cadillac style : I can respect it, but it doesn't turn me on. Luxury cars have never been my thing. Also, I flat can't stand sedans - so even the G8 is out for me. Give me a RWD, v8-powered, manually shifted, coupe, convertible, wagon, or Ute in Pontiac form and I'm there.
  22. I see a shapeless aero blob, without any of the Volt's agressiveness. A boring Mommy-mobile adorned in showcar silliness. Sorry, but that's what I see.
  23. No. Zeta is exactly what I've been waiting for for years. It is the perfect size for me. I'll just bail out on new cars if these don't materialize.
  24. I'm afraid that my faith in GM doing right by zeta is all but dead. I'm done waiting if the ST doesn't show up.
  25. In other words, they are dicking around - again Cars like this should have been here in the 90s.
