  1. Been hearing the name Strickler all of my life... Jenkins was local to me here, and quite the legend. Both my dad and my uncle knew him pretty well. He tuned my dad's Studebaker Golden Hawk when it was new, and was my uncle's friend since forever. I had the privilege of seeing his cars being built at SRD Race Cars when I was a kid since that crew was tight with my uncle (still are actually). The last time I saw him, he was signing autographs at Carlisle.
  2. Both tempting options...
  3. A legend passes. http://www.insideline.com/car-news/bill-grumpy-jenkins-1930-2012-the-great-drag-racer-makes-his-final-pass.html
  4. Not sure what you're asking me.
  5. The ones built on the RWD cars are much better-looking.
  6. Yes, but it is a slow laborious process to do that for each pic in a gallery. It wouldn't be so bad if you could click from non-distorted pic to non-distorted pic directly. The distorted ones really aren't worth looking at at all. At least one good, full-size pic should be in each original thread - makes for a much nicer presentation.
  7. Not having the pics in the thread creates a lack of cohesion. And, the gallery itself distorts the pics and is anything but user-friendly.
  8. ...it just plain sucks. Can we do something about it?
  9. Works for me, never liked the split grille - it always looked too clunky. Even better news!
  10. Familiar looking roof, hatch, and rear side windows...
  11. Some of the detailing is nice. Glad to see no huge headlights, and no crossbar in the grille. Good-looking brightwork.
  12. Very, very hard to find with low miles and unmolested. Cheers.
  13. This one is probably a wuss-a-matic, but it shows that worthy stuff is out there. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2923367177.html
  14. Front drive is out of the question, now and forever. An E-46 coupe might be tempting - if the right deal came along. But I'd probably go with a GTO instead. Point is, nothing really outdoes the F-bods for the criteria I'm using.
  15. Quite right.
  16. The seller should have posted the backstory in the ad. I don't care for these cars - at all, but a good story would interest me. I can't think of any good reason to have stashed this car away when new.
  17. No way! I'm going to be the one collecting those millions! These 2-doors commonly have the rust in front of the rear wheels, but the one you posted is about to break out in rust all over. That, and the bad engine/rough interior really make it a big project. The '92 has some of that rust (at least on one side), but I've seen it on the road as recently as a few weeks ago. It's rough, but a bit more honestly rough than the '93. I'm so glad that my Tahoe shows none of that rust so far!
  18. I'd run away from that one. As for the '92, it probably looks a bit rougher at first glance - but I think it is better overall. The price certainly is. I'm going to have a busy weekend, but if it is still around next week maybe I can check it out.
  19. ...and then certain Z/28s may be 1LE cars. Historically speaking Z/28 = 1LE, but marketing is something else entirely. 1LE has never been a model designation before, but its intent and content are equivalent to what the first Z/28s were. Both were prep packages for road racing, but Z/28 became a marketing entity along the way as well, and now it seems 1LE will do the same (if only for a short time).
  20. VIR is a great track, and less than 3min. around it is cookin'. I don't think you'll see a Z/28 until you see an Alpha Camaro.
