  1. I agree on the coupe comment. The demise of the Eldorado is unfortunate when you see the Camry Solara is selling. Just goes to show you it's all about the product.
  2. Is it possible they don't believe they have anything to say? If you really believe you have a compelling story to tell, I would expect you'd be shouting it from the rooftops.
  3. Strange for a car with no soul, the Impala enjoyed a 12% sales increase in an absolute SEA of 20% or more decline in GM's sales numbera by model in June. I actually like the current Impala. It's the first time in a long time I've found the Impala to be a desirable product. Go GM!
  4. Well hello Captain Obvious. Don't forget the lemming effect and the fact GM needs to hire a marketing company that has been to a clue store and got one lately. I *will* says it's nice to see Tundras going out the door with $3500 on the hood. :AH-HA_wink:
  5. I'm not sure stupid is a term I'd used to describe the nation. Naive maybe. They need to be shown the way. Why do most people really care anyway? They don't see the connection between the car business and their day-to-day lives. I'm not sure I'd refer to Toyota and Honda plants as "death trap plants" either. They still have to operate under US OSHA laws. What Toyota and Honda *have* done is take advantage of union disadvantages the big 3 have labored under while avoiding the substantial costs of the union burden themselves. This, combined with the fact they actually make reliable vehicles has put them in the position they're in today. While I don't like it, it's tough to really blame Toyota and Honda. I blame the UAW for not getting in there - so now they get Toyota and Honda unionized here or the UAW dies. Much more clear cut than the muddied waters of 20 years ago when the Asian invasion was starting to take place.
  6. Now that's a thing of beauty. Can I fit one in my '76 Eldo?
  7. What plant was #1 in '05 and '06?
  8. I have no idea what prompted this comment... just more spin as far as I'm concerned... The Northstar (released in '93 -- "read 14 years ago") has one of these so called "dress up covers" so I don't know what "the habit" would be. Been there a LONG time. Ever taken the cover off a Northstar and looked underneath? It's not a pretty sight by anyone's imagination. Mostly the fuel rail and plug wires, plus a few other important things like the FPR... We don't live in the old days when the air bonnet was the focus of the eyes when you open the hood. A cover is essential for the aesthetics of the under hood. As ToyMotor has proven, so much of the selling of cars these days is in the presentation... and not the substance. In truth you need both in big quantities.
  9. How about sharing your insight as to what you think would get it there?
  10. It was kinda discussed here: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=17094
  11. This post threatening a ban was ridiculous. Based on what? Something being said you don't like? Ban me too while you're at it. You must have worked on the Patriot Act.
  12. GM doesn't exist to provide jobs. I really don't get why people don't understand this fact. If they could build and sell 10 million cars a year without hiring a single person they would and in fact should if they are representing their shareholders properly. No company exists to provide jobs and simply existing entitles you to nothing. Not a job. Not a pension. Not health care. NOTHING.
  13. He's a narcissist who needs to be ignored... by everyone.
  14. GM: "Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated..."
  15. I agree with a lot the article in the link has to say but it's also overly dramatic.
  16. Close the plant. If it works for Walmart, it works for GM. I just love the words they use: ".... we demand .... "
  17. One point the author skims over is how the foreign makers have some of our congressmen bought and paid for. Sad.

    LS3!

I'm quite sure they need to have SOMETHING as a license plate since they're driving on public roads.

    LS3!

Good question - and from someone who has posted once I wouldn't put a lot of weight into it.
  20. There's not doubt the Japs have forced GM to build better product. Nothing improves product better than quality competition.
  21. Sorry for this out of order post but I just had to point out the fact that market cap is driven by the potential for future profits - or at least the PREDICTION of future profits. From this you can see why GM's is so low having lost so much money recently. And again, to bang the drum yet again.... GM MUST do something about their labor costs in September OR preferably the UAW grow a pair and unionize Toyota and let them deal with the albatross for a while. It's this or DIE. VERY SIMPLE.
