  1. Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Damn, that sux about your stripes. Perhaps using a hair dryer or (very carefully) a heat gun might help soften the adhesive first on the hood?
  2. I've seen a white Achieva w/ black stripes done that way, it looked OK but IMO Ted's 442-esque look in the pics would be less homespun looking.
  3. The '96-'97-ish 3100's did have an air duct that hooked up between the cowl and the back end of the alt., but I don't know if this can be added to a '95 easily or if it really helped all that much either.
  4. 1. 2003 VUE FWD4 manual 2. I doubt it. The '08 VUE is OK but I don't like that its smaller, thirstier and an Import. The 4cyl/ 4sp. combination is apparently really sluggish from what I understand. The Aura is pretty nice but the Malibu (in particular the 2.4L 1LT or 2LT) is nicer IMO. I like the "stripped" Outlooks but they are still pretty expensive and a little too big for my needs.
  5. '09 'bu ordering guide The 6sp. will be standard on 2LT and LTZ in '09 according to this, optional on 1LT. Also the Aura gets 6sp. across the board for '09 and loses the 3.5L, but gains an XR 2.4L allowing a loaded out 4cyl. much like the LT2/LTZ Malibu. Also I believe I saw a 2.4 LTZ at the local Chevy dealer the other day. It was fitted with the 5 spoke rims like the HHR LT has come with.
  6. Obviously CR had to skip over quite a few cars to list their "reccomended" tC with its 21/29 rating.
  7. Yeah the clean motor and seats really made up for the fact it needed some work. I'll bet the 'ol 3100 will look just as good after a little detail work. BTW, check out this link 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva - Long-Term Wrap Up I think that article was the only time I have seen another Achieva in your shade of blue.
  8. Thanks, I've been a lurker here quite a while really enjoy the site.
  9. BTW Ted, here's a couple of pics of my '95 you might enjoy. Its not a loaded out one like yours, but it is about the only non ragged out one with a manual I have seen in a while. Of course its a Q4 but the motor seems to be in pretty good shape save for a typical leaky water pump and cracked radiator I had to replace. It had only 64K miles when I bought it back in November and has about 70K now.
  10. This may be obvious, but you do know that the parking and/or headlamps have to also be on for the hood light to operate, right? I thought the hood light was broke on my '95 coupe when I first bought it back in November till I figured this little thing out. Also a liberal spraying of GM Super Lube or somting similar to the pintle holding the fuel door shut may help you out as it did for me.
