like celebrities or something?

So then why can't Cadillac also produce something high end for CEOs, Movie Stars, and Justin Bieber?
-
They don't have to tell WHAT product is coming, just say that SOMETHING is coming to fill the hole. Right now, if you read it in the most negative way, it just looks like they want to reneg on the terms of the bailout given by the Canadian and Ontarian governments.
I don't see it.
"and GM recently invested $185 million to support the launch of two new products on the flex line as well:"
"The consolidated line at Oshawa Assembly will continue to produce the current generation Chevrolet Impala and Equinox until June 2014."
The next Equinox goes into production right after then and they didn't put $185 million into the place just to give it up.

The Cadillac for poseurs. No thanks.
Well, I feel the same way - I am sure it will be a beauty, but GM will never sell enough of them for it to be a well-known, popular Cadillac. I know the auto makers have to start somewhere with this electric vehicle thing, but the prices on them is a real buzz-kill.
It is going to be a low volume halo car...it's a luxury car, so the price is justifiable. It's not a volume Chevy...
They'll be lucky if they build & sell 5,000 - 10,000 of these. Build something that will sell to the masses, not to Hollywood stars & corporate CEO's
Something like the 2013 Cadillac ATS?

Then why not announce something other than just "We're taking a product away from you?"
If the CAW's goal was to make Canadians hate GM more, then with me they've succeeded.
Because not all product has been announced yet. Omega looms large but it is highly secretive at this point. There are Regal and Lacrosse refreshes coming. Equinox and Terrain refreshes coming. Impala is getting ready to launch. That's just the stuff that we know. GM can't put the cards for 2016 on the table today.
I can't imagine that the CAW is at all surprised by the move of the Camaro. GM was not going to build it on the Alpha platform at Oshawa when LGR is currently underutilized and will be an all Alpha production line.

and the second lamest eco-box at that.

surprised they sold that many cars this year. I hardly ever see new Lincolns on the road here, plenty of 90's generation Town cars but rare to see anything new from them in the Seattle area.
To put it in perspective, Ford sells 68k F-series, E-Series, and Transit Connect in a month, more Mustangs than the entire Lincoln brand in an entire year.
-
Lincoln has sold 74,766 as of November 2012 and if they're lucky will hit 80k sales for the year.
18% is only an increase of 14,447 cars. MKZ should be able to do that on its own. At least the goal is achievable.

Sorry, but a Volt and a Sentra both holding on to the same percent of residual value after 5 years just doesn't hold water.

What happened to that giant mutant insect single-arm wiper system that was so amazing, that was going to revolutionize obstructionless viewing??
'Obsession' isn't a unilateral virtue; just ask a psychiatrist.
Speaking of wipers, I noticed the new Fusion has the old school meet-in-the-middle style wipers....IIRC, some GMs in the '80s-90s used that style also--some of the W-bodies and Corvettes IIRC.
As does the Escape. Over at GM, the Verano and Encore both do. Seems to be a German thing now.

The first auto company that comes up with a solid naming series that actually has names / synonms that reflect the auto will gain big market share.
Nissan Cube

well it fits your criteria!

You mean like how Mercedes takes a taxi cab, adds vinyl leatherette and sells it to poor saps in the US for $60k?

Oshawa is likely getting stuff that is more sales stable than Camaro will be long term.
-
The CAW needs to sit down and shut up. There is other production heading to Oshawa.
-
Welcome to the land of Lincoln, good luck with that.
this.
-
Yes the current naming scheme didn't work well.. Especially in crossovers, but this new one doesn't really fix the problem.

Like 1/2 an inch, right?

You know what else has a tiny tank? The Volt.
An update from a friend who bought a Volt over the summer, he just put gas in it for the first time since August.
Well, the day finally came, Ryan had to fill the Volt with gas! Figure that's a good time to give some stats on the ownership experience thus far:Total miles traveled: 1772
Percent EV: 89%
Energy used: 474 kWh
Gas used: 7.5 gals.
Average cost of electricity + recent tank fill up = $70
Cost of operation = $0.04/mile.
This replaced a 15mpg Pathfinder and he is now getting about 236mpg.

The Turbo suspension is firmer.

It's not only the lack of fog lamps that gives this car a cheap vibe. How about the fact that heated seats are an option across the board and not even standard on the most expensive model. Meanwhile the 2012 Cruze 2LT mid level model with the leather seats includes seat heaters and it's std on the LTZ trim. Also the silly single oddly placed rear exhaust on 2.5L models. How can a Kia Optima have dual chrome exhausts std on a 21k car but not a 45k Cadillac? The last issue I have with this car is the horrendous rear seat floor pan which literally steals what little foot space left if the front seat is pushed back even part way. How can they keep screwing things like this up with new clean sheet designs?
Because BMW does it that way too?
A 335i xDrive is $47k and still comes with vinyl seats. Heated seats are a $950 option.

I suggest you get a car with real torque... like a Volt.

You're asking the Volvo guy if he would drive a top end Volvo or a mid range Buick?
One Night Stands! :P
