  1. Thanks for the comments guys. Sorry I did mean to mirror the interior to make it LHD, but I forgot about doing that. I think you're right 04monteintimidator, the front grille bar could be made a little smaller, but it was my intention for it to be much bigger than on any current Chevs and therefore make a bold (and new) statement, while still being similar to the current range.
  2. Here's my effort. I don't really like just copying old designs, to be fresh and competitive I think the car should be awesome irrespective of its history. I feel this is what the cool, big, old RWD Impala's might have evolved into if not for the old fuel crisis and GM's fixation with FWD. Please let me know what you think.
  3. Sorry to be annoying, but how to I post an entry? Attaching a pic isn't working. Thanks.
  4. The GTO made it 'more' profitable, but Monaro was designed from the outset to be low volume and make a profit from the low Australian sales numbers, The unexpected exports were merely additional, and infact the profit margin for Holden was very low with all GTOs it built due to shipping costs etc and the need to price it competitively in the US.
  5. Not long back Lutz made a reference to a 'Buick Statesman', mentioned in the same article as the future of the GTO. I wonder if he meant this car? If he did, it could be in American dealerships inside 12 months (it is ready and in production in only a few months) as it goes on sale in Australia before the end of this year.
  6. Ok fair enough. Then sell a lower spec version in lower spec LaCrosses. In this higly competitive market there is no excuse for selling a 20+ year old pushrod V6 (despite how good it might actually be) when a better modern engine is available and affordable. You can argue all you like the virtues of the Series II V6, but when the competition from abroad has powertrains that are perceived to be better they will sell. It is vital that GM remember this. The Australian emissions regulations mirror those of Europe which, while possibly not be as tough as those found in the US, are far from leniant. It is not unreasonable for GM to fit its latest and newest engine to the entire range of such an important car as the U.S. LaCrosse.
  7. I just looked at the US LaCrosse on Buick's website to compare. I think the front of the Chinese one is better, but apart from that I think overall the US one looks better! I find it strange that so many people seem to think this is some sort of magic looking car compared to the US one. Try and look past the controlled stylish photos of the Chinese one... I think it has rather plain straight sides, where the US version has a nice flowing hunch over the rear wheel arch and a nice side window and body shape. Clearly the Chinese one was designed later than the US one as it uses the latest version of the Buick grille. Ideally the US version might get a mid life facelift at some point to adopt the latest grille and therefore look similar to China's version at the front. Even the interior is pretty close (I do personally prefer the chinese one but its hardly a leap ahead of the US interior). One thing I find strange is they still sell it with the old 3.8, if Holden can sell the 3.6 HFV6 in its mainstream and affordable base Commodore, surely there is no excuse for GM not making it standard on all LaCrosses. Marketing unfortunately has stopped GM from making it as good as it could be.
  8. Come on guys... Carlos Ghosn is the guy who saved Nissan. They were basically bankrupt, and he gave them profits after only 3 years. He is considered a celebrity in Japan. If GM could only be so lucky to get his help! Don't kid yourself, GM is in the state its in now because of bad management, so what Ghosn is saying is true!
  9. I am very excited, but terribly nervous. After such a long build up, what direction GM decides to take the Comaro in will say a lot about the company. Right now, with all thats going on with the company, they need to be looking forward. If they wheel out something thats effectively a '69 with big wheels and no chrome than there's surely no hope. Please no tacky retro!
  10. In Australia is will be 3.6 HFV6 and 6.0 LS2. Using GM's new 6 speed auto on the V8 at least.
