  1. i 've read there won't be DOHC v8 gasoline engine in GM future. Not since cancellation of the ultra V8. Just V8 CIB engine with DI injection like the one in Denalli XT concept and escalade which was shown to journalist. There was rumors about Gen V LS being DOHC but that was before the cancellation of the ultra v8.
  2. Will there be some power upgrade? It has 320 hp and the next gen. is supposed to come (if it comes) in 2012 or something like that. That is long time to wait for some power upgrade.
  3. There was beforeconcept smallblock with 3 valve and DI..XV8. Yes it had two cam in block but it can probably be done with one cam in block . I just hope that GM will produce future LS engines with DI and we won't have to wait until next generation vette to see it. 4.9 l v8 with vvt , DI could probably develop over 350 hp.
  4. 150 hp less than what ? LS3? Then this engine would have 285 hp..which is lower than present 3.6 l V6 DI and even vortec 4.8 l v8 ohv from GM makes 300 hp. So what use there will be from that kind of engine? Now future camaro should have V6 with range from 260-340 (maybe 2 v6 engines- one with around 280 hp and one with 320-330 ho) .Also inline 4 engine wouldn't be bad for European market. But I4 with Turbocharger and around 230, 240 hp. Now i see plenty sports car with diesel engine here so maybe camaro with diesel for European market. And top models..well there could be one with TTv6 and around 400+ HP and even above that..Gen v smallblock ohv with 5.3 l, DI, vvt and forced induction with over 500 hp. And if it is possible make 6th gen camaro.
  5. Did you heard that from insider? I'm asking because the latest rumors are there isn't any new v8 in near future especially dohc since Ultra v8 is canceled and gen V small block will maybe come with N.G corvette in 2012/13. There is rumors that gen V will have DI, vvt etc but it won't be DOHC. Block from CIB engine is different than the one from DOHC engine since all cams are in heads and there isn't need for pushrod and space for cam in block so i don't think that GM will use same block for ohv (or CIB) and DOHC engine.
  6. No it isn't . It will be but it isn't yet. Will this new coupe have AWD and V version ? Will it be same engine like in CTS-V or something less powerful? And it seems even more competiro are thinking about putting V8 engines in their cars (it seems alfa will be getting one according to rumors, hyundai has tau V8) so i hope cadillac won't abandon their V8 in non V models.
  7. I think Gen V will be ohv engine with DI vvt and maybe 3 valve head..this engine would be good replacement for Northstar engine in Cadllac. But there is that UAW document that said 6.2 l DOHC.
  8. why would DOHC engine be requirement for E class, A6 etc competition(concerning V8 engines)? Yes it would be nice if Cadillac make 5.0 l v8 DOHC engine with 380 hp. But same power could be achieved probably by using DI, vvt, 3v heads on same ohv displacement engine. And if we look at the new BMW V8 engine it is equip with Turbochargers. So why GM couldn't develop engine based on LS engine but with smaller displacement (around 5.0 l) put DI, VVT, 3valve heads with around 400 hp..of if they need bigger power they could put turbochargers on it (but this is engine between V series and v6 so it doesn't need 500 hp). If i understand some people don't want small block because you can find same engine in chevy and pontiac and Cadillac is more expensive(one of the reason). But even northstar wasn't just in cadillac. We don't know what will GM do but they need V8 engine for their top non-v models. Maybe something based on next gen LS but design just for cadillac wouldn't be so bad .
  9. It can also be small displacement ohv Gen V with DI, vvt, 3v and later maybe forced induction ...it could easily hit over 400 hp even without forced induction. Of course this engine shouldn't be shared with pontiac on zeta platform. It should be cadillac exlusive engine.(yes engine block would probably be the same, but not the whole engine).
  10. Isn't small block engine ohv design? With cam in block? So it can be small block DOHC
  11. My, how the badges lie. To anyone else on the road, this black Holden Commodore is a regular HSV GTS, the 6.0-liter V-8 sport sedan built by GM's Australian hot-shop, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). With its 20-inch wheels, big brakes, and tied-down suspension, the HSV GTS previews the 425-hp Pontiac G8 GXP we'll see here sometime in late 2008. http://www.motortrend.com/features/perform..._gts/index.html
  12. Seems like most of cadillac new v8 engine will be supercharged not turbocharged. LSA in cts-v according to rumors has very similar concept like ls9 engine (supercharger and intercooler on top of supercharger). I think that new DOHC v8 ultra/northstar 2 will also be supercharged instead of turbocharged in top version.
  13. Well cadillac CTS will get V8 DOHC ultra(in n.a. form and Forced induction form) so there shouldn't be a problem with that. Rumors are it will have around 400 hp in N.a form and around 600 hp with FI.I don't know if there will be something in between. They could put Ultra with hlower boost and 460-480 hp in.

    New 400 hp AMC Eagle

Don't like the design..engines sound- good v8 TT with 400 hp..well it's not sport sedan and maybe this engine will have even more HP in sedan (bmw 5 or something like that). If i can remember correct ultra V8 should also have HP around that number in sedan(but without forced induction) but smaller number in SUV.
  15. I think that cadillac CTS is an exellent car. Yes it will probably have some stuff that can be execute better , but which car doesn't. Also i don't think that CTS alone will be enough to make Cadillac "Standard off the world". GM must decide what they want cadillac to represent. For example bmw are sportier but also smaller(and uglier ) inside and out than other competitiors.Alfa romeo have exellent design and handles like bmw 3 even if it is FWD, but doesn't have m3 competitor in their lineup (GTA isn't M competitior)..at least for now. I think that cadillac should bild middle class car (that is class where audi a4, mercedes c, alfa romeo 159 are in Europe), Bls,but also have true m, amg or rs4 competitor in their class. Also if their going against E klass, 5, A6 jaguar xf, cts should have at least two v8 engine(one v series but also one below V series),preferably DOHC, with DI,vvt, for European buyers,. ...diesel is a must..and not just one diesel engine. Or maybe hybrid. Next would be a bmw 7, audi a8 competitor also with V8 engines option(DOHC) ..v12 isn't necessary at least not in first generation. And maybe when all this is done cadillac could have something like black edition in mercedes or cls m3 in bmw in limited and small number.
  16. If we can believe rumors Ultra V8 (or northstar II) is smaller (outside dimension) than present northstar. But also cadillac cts won't get that engine until MCE in 2010. And some rumors are even suggesting that then it will also go in MCE of CTS-V(with some sort of forced induction)
  17. According to rumors new v8 Ultra DOHC engine will be available later in cts below cts-v
  18. I think 6.0 l V8 DOHC with supercharger in next gen. V series and n.g LS engine in BLS-V
  19. If next lacrosse will be on epsilon 2 platform then it could get AWD since this platform will be capable of accepting AWD layout.
  20. According to rumors on other forums 1 Yes 2 4.6 l to 5.5 l (maybe even 6.0 l) DI,vvt 90° cylinder bank angle, maybe forced induction for V series (in begining it will probably have ls3 with supercharger;lsA) power speculations are from 380-400+ hp in cadillac (it will also be used in acadia if i remeber some of the rumors) 3 STS/dts becomes one model on zeta platform. This is the rumors i've heard.

    600-hp CTS-V

i don't think it will be awd.
  22. OMG..you didn't really think that by FI i meant fuel injection?? I meant forced induction-supercharger or turbocharger. Who would use carburator now??
