  1. They're actually not my photos...I just Googled them off the internet. I too like the Quicksilver. That big chrome front end is just so cool. :)
  2. We've been an Olds family and my dad still owns a '92 Eighty Eight Regency. Our past Oldsmobiles 1985 Cutlass Ciera 1986 Cutlass Supreme 1992 Eighty Eight Regency My dad also almost bought a 1969 442, but he bought a '78 Corvette 25th Anniversary instead. The 442 would have been worth much more today. Very similar to my dad's old Cutlass Supreme
  3. I agree...actually, has anyone here seen the movie Dogma? Remember the part where the Catholic church tries to "modernize" itself by replacing images of Jesus's crucifixion with "Buddy Christ." That is kind of like what Christian rock music is trying to do...taking Christian messages and slapping them into modern rock in order to make it "hip" to be Christian. Religion shouldn't be hip.
  4. So I went to a Christian rock concert tonight because a friend of mine wanted to go since he really likes the band that played. They're a local band that isn't really known outside of central Iowa. I had a couple drinks over at another friend's apartment and then went over with him to the frat where they were playing. So we're at the concert and there's probably 150-200 people there. The band starts to play its first song that sounds like it was ripped off a Rage Against the Machine album. Then they move onto the next song that sounds like something Linkin Park would play. Cut/copy/paste riffs, hoarse growling vocals, and the lead singer was jumping around stage like a circus monkey (or Fred Durst). Everyone was getting into it except for me. Then on one song, a group of 10 or so people in the front started moshing around...at a Christian concert!? And they were really getting into it...like shoving and pushing into other people. Then as soon as the song was over, the vocalist went into a 10 minute speech about the Awesome Power of God. So one minute, you have people violently shoving each other, and then the next you have hands raised in the air praising God. Anyone else see the irony? A few times during the concert they sounded more like a Death Metal band than a Christian band. I left the concert completely unimpressed while everyone else was going nuts. It is the single worst performance I have ever witnessed in my life. I don't know, Christian rock just seems really...uhh, not Christian-like. It's like they take some mainstream nu-metal song and throw in Christian lyrics...that's essentially what it is. I listen to all kinds of rock, but Christian rock is the cheesiest form of music in existence...even worse than Polka, Europop, or Disco. Oh btw, I'm Catholic, so it's not like I'm ripping on Christianity...just the music.

    8th gen civic

The North American version of the Civic is definately fugly. The Euro version really isn't too bad though. The interior is unique, but the quality of material looks pretty poor, especially that darker area of dash covering the speedo and NAV. The steering wheel seems fairly plush though. I know seeing and feeling are two different things, but in the photo below there seems to be a lot of shine on that dash giving it a plastiky look. After browsing around various forums, I have found that not many people like this new Civic. The Civic used to be pretty nimble...now it's just a bloated combination of various design elements. Will Honda win back praise in the compact car segment, or will sales continue to slide? Only time will tell.
  6. I pasted what thegriffon said into another board...here it is:
  7. The interior's not that great either. Look at the panel gaps. They're worse than my 1994 Lumina.
  8. I got a little story for this one. When I was about 5 years old, I had to have surgery on my ear because I was having trouble hearing out of it. After the surgery was over, my parents took me to Toys R Us and said I could pick one toy. Out of all the toys there, what was that one toy I picked? A Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler with a little electric motor. Somehow, they let me have it. I guess they figured my sister could ride in it too. I never let her drive it though! :P That's not me in the picture by the way. LOL. Apparently they got fined for failing to recall the vehicles due to engine fires. No joke.
  9. I'm a huge Stephen King fan. I've read The Stand twice (1100 pages!), Desperation, and It. The Stand is by far the best book I have ever read. King has a great sense of imagery in his books, especially when it comes to describing locations and detail stuff. I love how when he writes, he writes about "rolling American iron" automobiles and stuff like that...very down to Earth. If you haven't read The Stand, I strongly recommend it. I'll have to pick this one up sometime when I get the chance.
  10. The new front end looks a lot cleaner. I still don't like those center stack vents though.
  11. Ford's new Fusion has been SAE tested and still has 221 hp. I haven't heard of any other Ford vehicles yet. I've been following this quite a bit, and it appears that Toyota and Honda have had to make the most (and largest) changes. Even if they did test under ideal conditions that would never happen in a real life situation, it doesn't change the fact that their horsepower numbers have dropped by as much as 20 hp. Nissan has pretty much stayed solid, with a couple numbers even going up slightly. I read a while back that GM was certifying all its 2006 cars, but I haven't read anything since. So while it may not have been some "plot" by Toyota and Honda, but it still looks bad on paper no matter how you put it.
  12. It's the same old, same old for Mustang84.
