  1. I can see some truth to that statement. Even though Toyota is a Japanese company, they do make their cars here now in addition to designing them here. The new Tundra is a classic example. It is designed AND built here without any input from the head honchos in Japan. That said, I would think that term does apply. Just my unbiased logic to the issue.
  2. Acura has always marched to the beat of their own drum as far as their engines are concerned. That has made them a unique aspect to the automotive world, but I guess that doesn't cut it in this day in age, especially when the US market calls for a "bigger is better" mentality. I am eager to see what they do with their V8's. If their V6's can perform with some V8's out there on the market, I can only imagine what their V8's can do.
  3. Eh -looks too much like the 00 -04 Peugeot 206. Unoriginal styling on GM's part, if you ask me.
  4. Yeah, that sounds like that was a set-up to try and boost sales. Good try though.
  5. Let's face it, Lexus is the best Cadillac GM never made.
  6. Wow - so the Big 2.5 may dwindle to the Big 2.25 Oh well, GM needs someone to save their butts. Perhaps Nissan/Renault will whip those guys into shape and help GM sell REAL products that consumers "may" think twice about buying. GM has been relying too much on their truck segment, which is good, because trucks sell well here, but to be a company that will survive in this very competitive market, they have to be well rounded in ALL their products. That is where Toyota beats GM hands down, not to mention Nissan also. There may be good out of all of this, but if this deal goes through, the big "true" American company now will soley be Ford.
  7. I can see how the Civic has made COY. It is better than the previous model, which in my opinion was a big joke. The 06 Civic has more power and a better interior. The styling is futuristic and progressive, none of this retro BS, plus it is not mistaken for anything but a Honda. The engines that Honda makes are of technological innovation that symbolizes intelligence and ingenuity. The VTEC kicks in at 6000rpm giving you that rush of power that can only be had by an F1 inspired engine. It may not have alot of torque down low as compared to other cars, but it was taken care of by the "i" part in i-VTEC, in which, in my opinion has made torque more acceptable down low. Also, it is priced right for the average consumer to have a car that offers excitment, plus reliable transportation. There are other car manufacturers that has made excellent cars for the 2006 year, but I can understand how the Civic made the cut. Kudos to Honda for listening to their customer's requests in making the 2006 Civic a more desiraable car.
  8. The Germans actually lead in the science development. Much of the world's technological achievements were accomplished in Germany, as well as medical advancements. The number 1 thing is for GM to make a profit, in which they have failed miserably. Right now, they have to concentrate on making that profit so that they can be more competitive in the auto world.
  9. Honda has realized that they have lost market share to the sport compact area, that is why they restyled the Civic and gave it the horsepower bump that it needed. I like how the car is restyled. It is a progressive design and doesn't rely on the unimaginative and boring retro-look (which I can starting to get tired of). I have seen a few on the roads now and they look better in person that what the pictures show. I don't think I would personally buy one, but I can appreciate it's engineering prowess.
  10. Have you been in a Hyundai lately? I think their interiors have come a long way from back in the days. In some models, I think they are better than some of GM's models.
