Next Tesla Roadster Not To Be Seen Until 2015

    February 14, 2012

Tesla’s first car, the Roadster had to bow out last year due to Lotus choosing to end production of its own Elise and Exige sports cars, which the Roadster was based on. Since then, Tesla has promised a sequel to the Roadster, but it might be a long wait.

Inside Line spoke with Tesla Chairman and CEO Elon Musk about the next Roadster. Musk said he's decided to hold up on a replacement roadster for now. The reason isn’t technical, but business. Musk said the company is going to put their focus on launching the "Gen 3" electric car, a smaller, less-expensive EV for the mass market. Musk says he hopes to have the “Gen 3” out sometime in 2015.

    • It's that I don't like being in the kitchen, minding the sequences, buying and stocking up on ingredients.  I never got into it when I should have.  On the other hand, if I liked my own cooking, I might have a problem on my hands!
    • I learn from my failures and push to be better.
    • They will come to Canada where autos are cheaper such as the new Honda Prelude that is $7,000 cheaper in Canada than the U.S. due to Idiot47 Tariffs that are hurting so many Americans and have only brought in less than $150 billion such that it cannot even pay the interest on our debt but hurts everyone but the 1%. No, it has not brought in the Trillions Dirty Dumb Donald says it has, and no one will see a $2,000 tariff refund check. Rolex, Ferrari, etc. all these that do elite stuff do not care about the masses, only the 1%, as such why even bother buying their mass-produced products when they do not give everyone a fair chance at the limited-edition stuff. Yet with all the bitching about various things with Porsche, one has to agree that they are pushing the edge of tech as @ccap41 pointed out. Top of the fast recharge list, plus wireless charging which is a game changer.
    • For me, cooking is a very trying and traumatic experience.  LOL.
    • Yeah, can’t really argue against the technology.  I think Porsche is stuck in a hard place with their styling. There’s not a lot they can do style wise without alienating their traditional buyers. If they do like what Jaguar did with the last XJ when they dropped the traditional styling, they’d piss everyone off.
