T1GHT WH!P$ TROPHY TRIVIA

Featured Replies

In the next few weeks I'm going to post 59 different trivia questions

of all different forms on C&G. Multiple choice, photo identification,

photo match up & even some true or false. Some questions will be

multiple part and others a simple one word answer.

At the end of the 59 individual trivia thread questions all the winners

will be added up and a trophy will be mailed via the USPS to the

over all winner of the first annual Tight Whips Trivia Trophy.

Best of luck to all, I encourage everyone to participate.

The 3rd answer is incorrect Fly. :)

  • Author

No... you misunderstood.

1985 WAS the last year of the lenghtwise mounted

motors in the Riviera. Question no. 3 is incorrect.

It's not Auburn.

  • Author

Nope... not Duesenberg, not Auburn...

It was a RWD car but it was based on a FWD one.

Look familiar? It's a Cord 810 with RWD and coffin nose delete. :)

Now since we have two members who answered this question but both

only in part I think we'll have a tie-braker to make it fair.

ONLY for FlyBrian & Camino:

This Automotive manufacturer had some very interesting ideas &

production mechanicals in the pre-and post WWII era. At one

point they made a few turboprop motors that were used on a few

helicopters. They also made two different 24 cylinder motor

designs and dabbled in H-pattern motors as well. This same little

known manufacturer also made diesel engines for aircraft and

marine use for the war effort.

They also came very close to buying the Bentley brand but were

outbid by Rolls Royce at last minute.

Today they still exist but are primarily in the industry of forced

induction for internal combustion motors.

Good Luck Gentleman. :)

Shouldn't have gone there because I know its Napier, who (among other things) outfitted engines for the Westland Wessex.

Well, considering you already got 4/5 I specifically threw

in a question involving aviation to make it fair. I guess it

made it a no brainer for you...

On to Question 17 & 18.
