General Motors of Canada today announced pricing for the all-new 2007 Saturn Aura, available at Saturn retailers this September. With a starting MSRP of $24,990 on the well-equipped XE model and $30,985 on the up-level XR models, Saturn aims to make the premium Aura sport sedan the choice of many Canadians who previously thought such a car was beyond their reach.

“The Aura represents another key step in Saturn’s revitalization, which was first introduced with the popular Saturn Sky,” said Dave McCall, Saturn’s director of marketing for Canada. “Aura blends Saturn’s new European-influenced design and high levels of refinement with Saturn’s well-known customer-focused purchase and ownership experience in a highly affordable package.”

The Aura’s driving character matches its refined design, with technologically sophisticated powertrains and a premium sport-sedan setup. The XR models feature GM’s first application of its new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission mated with the 3.6L DOHC V-6 with VVT, rated at 252-horsepower (188 kW) and 251 lb.-ft. of torque (340 Nm), creating a powerful yet fuel-efficient package. Standard on XE models is the 3.5L V-6 with variable valve timing (VVT) producing 224-horsepower (167 kW) and 220 lb.-ft. of torque (298 Nm) mated with the 4T45, four-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features on the 2007 Saturn Aura include: four wheel disc brakes with ABS, head curtain side impact air bags, 17-inch wheels, front seat mounted air bags, power door locks, remote keyless entry, power windows, cruise control, electric rear view mirrors, OnStar and traction control. Standard features on the XR model include18-inch 14-spoke polished faced alloy wheel and StabiliTrak.

Similar to the acclaimed Saturn Sky, the Aura sports sedan features distinctive design elements that establish a new direction for Saturn's growing portfolio of vehicles. The stylish exterior boasts premium features such as distinctive headlamps with jewel-like appearance and a chrome grille bar bearing the brand logo. The refined interior sets a new standard for Saturn with premium materials and exceptional fit and finish. The two-tone colour combinations for the trim and upholstery exude contemporary style.

2007 is a big year for Saturn. Following the all-new Sky and Aura, Saturn will launch the Vue Green Line hybrid and the turbocharged Sky Red Line model this fall and the Outlook crossover SUV after that.

Funny, if you stick a saturn badge on a Pontiac or a Chevy and its "Badge Engineered", but you stick it on an Opel, and its European inspired engineering!  The Auras still a nice ride though!

Because the Pontiac and Chevrolet are sold alongside it.

Another option to think about in a couple moths when the lease on the Av is done.

I have about 623 options/considerations.

In comparo to the price of the (2006)Accord V6 SE - It comes out to about the same MSRP (30,400$). Of course the Saturn has a larger engine, more gears in the tranny, and 18" wheels, and more appealing looks IMO. Same safety features.

It obviously won't have the Accord re-sale.
