Nothing like some bad news to be announced just when things are looking positive. On the heels of the Detroit Auto Show. GM has announced that Zeta is officially dead, and only the G8 and Camaro will see American shores. Bob Lutz stated that Sigma will have to solider on, blaming the cancellations and halted development on increasingly tough fuel economy standards. He even goes so far as to say traditional RWD companies may have to rethink which wheels power the car to meet fuel economy standards:

β€œAnd I suspect the same thing is going to start to bite the traditional rear-wheel drive producers.”

Apparently Lutz has never heard of diesels that easily get 30 mpg. Or hybrid powertrains.
