EV charging station installed in Iowa

Recommended Posts

This will be the first EV charging station installed between Chicago and Denver. It will be a couple miles north of I-80 in the town of Elk Horn, which is near where I grew up.

ELK HORN -- Iron Eagle Technologies, along with the Danish Windmill, AmericInn Motels, The Elk Horn Service Station and Carbon Day Automotive, announced the installation of four publicly-available Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The effort is to promote renewable energy products, energy conservation and carbon output reduction.

A ribbon cutting for the charging stations, the first in the state, will take place at the Danish Windmill in Elk Horn at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. State officials and local business leaders will be speaking about the importance of building EV infrastructure for the future of transportation, and EV manufacturers will be presented, bringing along with them different types of EVs for viewing and rides.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

The charging stations will be the first of many along the I-80 corridor through Nebraska and Iowa as Iron Eagle Technologies looks to expand and build infrastructure for the EV movement. They are a compliment to Iron Eagle Technologies' new World EVAL program, which is a new line of business for testing and certification of electric vehicles and EV components.

The charging stations will allow customers to simply swipe a keyfob, plug in and charge up their electric vehicles. Users may located the charging stations, and even determine whether or not they are currently occupied, using Google maps.

President and CEO of IET Mike Howard noted, "Although it's not well known, the first successful electric vehicle was actually invented in Iowa by William Morrison. We've come a long way since then, and Iron Eagle Technologies is committed to putting the EV focus back in the heartland."
