Starting this thread to post weird tech news. Have to say that with all the news on security issues, one would think twice about buying stuff without knowing if it is secure or not, but nope, seems we have a whole new wave of tech toys that are as secure as one slurping ice cream at the store without paying for it yet.

Who would have thought, but we now have WiFi streaming cameras with LED lights on Dildo's with Laughable security.

But to answer the jist of your post - yes; there's absolutely a move of 'tech for tech's sake', tho really all this is doing is putting the same tech in different products.
