Review: 2016 Chevrolet Volt Premier

Album created by William Maley · Updated

The second-generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt Premier represents a thorough ground-up redesign of GM's plug-in hybrid hatchback, trading the polarizing styling of the original for a cleaner, more conventional look that doesn't sacrifice the Volt's practical advantages. Under the hood, the upgraded Voltec powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter range-extender engine with an improved electric drive unit, delivering a real-world EV range of around 50 miles before the gasoline generator kicks in. Inside, a redesigned cabin brings a far more conventional and appealing layout, highlighted by a large MyLink touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and a full-color digital instrument cluster that keeps efficiency data front and center.
