  1. Well until the decent people stop being total cowards and start distancing themselves from the crazies theologically, it doesn't matter to me--everyone's complicit. But the funny thing is that the crazies seem to be more theologically on-point with the organization's views...religion is the problem, not the solution. You start throwing bull$h! around like "afterlife," "salvation," and "infinity," and then attach strings to them, you're just begging for the sheeple to turn off their brains in the singular pursuit of these fairy tales.
  2. Yeah, "driving isn't a right, it's a responsibility!" Way to pay attention to the first lesson of Driver's Ed

    UMMMMMMMM.... :small voice: maturity gap!
  4. I've been through a similar situation with someone who went all out on religion very quickly. Sometimes it just isn't worth it. You really miss the "old" them, and it's really hard to try and accept that that may never happen. None of my good friends are religious, and I kinda like it that way.
  5. No. Taxes =/= Protection. The laws must protect all groups equally. As for progressive taxes, well, tax exemptions and incentives pretty much render your dislike of them bunk. It really isn't difficult to game the system.
  6. SEAT/Skoda is a brilliant idea...I hope that's the plan. Those brands wouldn't have much problem fitting under the "Saturn" umbrella.
  7. Just don't get a Sony. Whatever they are, I don't care as long as it isn't a Sony--that company is sooooooo anti-consumer it makes me sick.
  8. Agreed. The base engine is pretty anemic, but it is smooooooooothe. The only other gripes I have are 1) no available rear armrest and 2) side mirrors are difficult to adjust properly. I always felt like I needed to turn my head to see if it was clear to make a lane change to the left, and I don't have to do that in my Aurora. But the interior is fantastic, and everything else is pretty good to great.
  9. No worries, I just wasn't sure if anyone had noticed it yet. I really like the new banners, otherwise.
  10. The thread titles are now white text on a white/silver gradient. Please, fix this slight oversight. If it matters, I'm using the default skin.
  11. Here's something Rick should have done: knock out the corporate ADD and pick a decision instead of wavering so much. This isn't to say be too stubborn to adapt, but GM wavered, "studying" situations for so long regarding RWD, product replacement, etc. Make up your mind about Saturn and give them good product, not an infusion of hampered, half-assed product with one solid gem. Same with Pontiac. Make strategic decisions and stick to them, but feel free to make minor course corrections as needed; a solid strategy doesn't need constant re-evaluation with every pothole in the road. But RW's strategy involved a lot of gambling, putting all the eggs in one basket hoping for a big enough payoff that GM wouldn't have to worry about REAL change. Look at the emphasis on SUVs instead of a broad range of product, look at betting the farm on the Volt at the expense of a decent stable of hybrid vehicles, look at the reliance on the gasoline engine instead of utilizing diesels. The list goes on and on...
  12. "Impala" has more equity.
  13. Props for the Hogan's Heroes reference, but alas, I wasn't being that creative. I think I was originally going to type "I think that thing looks hideous" but suffered from a crossed synapse...and clearly you see the result above
  14. Coming from Atilla the Wannabe Hun, herself? You don't have any room to talk. You want phonetic Californian, you got it: If I were bean fun-etic, "that theen's hidyiss"
  15. Yeah, I posted this yesterday: http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?s=...st&p=485049
  16. Not an April Fools in all likelihood. GM mentioned from the get-go that it would shutter or spin-off Saturn, and while I don't see any equity in the name alone (all that Saturn has, for all practical purposes), this may be a good thing. If some people want to take Saturn off GM's hands, then GM doesn't have to deal with those expenses. Since GM has so much factory capacity, maybe Sping Hill will be negotiated? One fewer factory for GM to worry about...
  17. There is nothing stopping GM from putting a turbo-4 in a large family sedan, with a 6 as an upgrade. It can be done, and while it may not be a screamer, that's not what the market generally buys, either. Most Impalas are sold without the V8, and the buyers are just fine with that.
  18. Exactly, Turbo. The STS was a very awkward, yet bland, design, and the interior was chintzy for the price. The build quality in the few models I climbed inside was pretty poor as well, and the biggest impression I got was how sharp some of the corners on the HARD PLASTIC were, especially when they were exposed due to misalignment. I definitely had a plastic "papercut" as a result of the experience. Not cool. And though I only received a cut in one model, the sharp corners and misaligned trim were NOT exclusive to one specimen. Factor the barely-upgraded size and interior (in comparison to the CTS) with the much-upgraded pricetag, this car was destined for poor sales.
  19. That think is HIDEOUS!
  20. Solstice. If you need some cargo and passenger space, then the G5 GT.
  21. I found you a new avatar, Mr. Positivity:
  22. Wonder if the G8 wagon will be back on, or if it will cross over to Chevrolet showrooms. Honestly, why doesn't GM replace the Impala sooner rather than later with a badge-engineered Holden Caprice? Just swap in the Chevrolet Caprice fascias and call it a day. Stylistically, it's just a natural evolution of the current Impala design vocabulary.
  23. I think it's for real. Why else do you think PCS jumped ship to BMW? Holden won out.

    Uggggggg

You should only take criticism to heart when you respect the person. There are lots of "smart" people that have criticized me on various things, except I don't really accept their point of view as valid and/or applicable (think: hardcore academics who are waaaaay out there in their own little world of theory and how things "have to be"). Only my closest friends can criticize me and have it mean a damn thing.
