  1. I am looking at new 2007 Lucernes at several dealers. These don't qualify for any red tags or anything else but they ought to sell for a lot less than an '08 right now.
  2. I suppose nobody knows one way or the other, until GMAC wakes up on October 1st and announces what their pull ahead program will be for the third quarter, what the program will be. Can anybody venture an educated guess?
  3. I am more interested in whether GMAC is likely to increas e their pull ahead October 1st. That will determine for me whether I can get a good deal or not. The employee pricing is not a good deal because these 2008's are already held over models.
  4. The Employee Pricing Event does not seem to have had any effect on Buick sales in particular. Every lot I visit is chock full of 2008 models, despite this sale having been on for weeks now. After the employee pricing is over on September 30th what is GM going to come up with to move that iron? Is GMAC likely to increase their pull ahead?
  5. What were Buick's sales overall, and by model?
  6. I am waiting now. If on October 1st, GMAC decides to increase its pull ahead program from 2 months to 5 months then I would owe nothing. In the meantime I have already identified several vehicles that are available and will probably remain so.
  7. The employee pricing on the 2008 is not really a good deal because the 2009 models are already out. Once this stupid event is over anybody should be able to negotiate a better deal on a 2008 than they would right now.
  8. Today I was quoted 27% off of MSRP on a 2007 Lucerne CXL V-8 from a dealer a scant 150 miles from me.
  9. I miss my Ultra, but not its gray interior. I drove it for 2 years and it was doing fine when I sold it and went into this lease on the '06 Lacrosse. Now that the lease is winding down, I am looking into a Lucerne with the Northstar. I was under the impression that the '09 Lucerne Super had the 5.3?
  10. I'm not intrigued by any of it. This just means that we are going to have fewer choices, in this subcompact, knees against the dashboard, MPG conscious, tree-hugging world. Who would choose to drive an uncomfortable, underpowered fart box rather than a comfortable, spacious, adequately powered vehicle. The problem will be that we won't have any choices any more.
  11. Edmunds' site for the 2009 Lucerne does not show a V-8 option for any of the Lucerne CXL configurations. That is why I am concerned. The Super looks a bit gaudy and is very expensive.
  12. That's true, come to think of it. I see a lot of '08 Lucernes still in stock on the west coast of Florida, where there are a lot of what you could call traditional Buick customers. There are nice colors, too, red, gold, etc., not just white or gray cars like the post office would buy. I am going to work my way north from South Florida and try making a deal on an '07. The first dealer who decides not to be a jerk about this will make a deal. If they were reasonable they wouldn't have any of these '07's in the first place.
  13. For 2009 it appears that GM only offers the V-8 in the Super version. The CXL with the V-8 hit a very nice price point. what a shame that the V-8 is only available in a version that will be priced at over $40,000.00.
  14. I am shopping for a new Lucerne and noticed that there are still some 2007 CXL V-8's and CXS around. Two dealers quoted me approximately 22.5% off MSRP, which is 8% more discount than one would realize for an '08 Lucerne under GM's employee pricing scheme. It doesn't seem to be enough off to make it worthwhile for an '07. What discount would be appropriate for a held over '07 Lucerne V-8?
  15. I've been to 3 dealers; drove 3 Lacrossse Supers and an '07 Lucerne CXL V-8. Shopping under this promotion is difficult indeed. One dealer tried to add junk fees; I walked. Another tried to strong arm me to take GMAC financing, promising they would absorb my remaining lease payments (approx $1,000.00). I was told that the $2,000.00 bonus for turning in the GMAC lease early required the buyer to take GMAC financing on the new vehicle. Does the $2,000.00 bonus apply to a new 2007?
  16. If they kill of Pontiac and GMC what happens to Buick?
  17. Cananopie: If you drive it carefully, it would probably give better mileage than the 3.6 V-6 that everybody complains about in the fuel economy department (see consumer reviews on Edmunds).
  18. I watched an ebay auction on a used one, chocolate on chocolate, with only 600 miles on the odometer. The dealer was looking for $27 Grand but nobody bid more than right over $20 Grand. . . . This would be a nice car to lease, though. I am leasing a 2006 Lacrosse, 20 months into a 36-month lease, right under the appropriate mileage at more or less 25,000 miles. I won't have to worry about depreciation, either.
  19. The vehicle should run well on 89 octane mid-grade fuel, especially if you do not put undue demands on the supercharger.
  20. We have a 2000 Buick Century that has 36,000 miles. A couple of years ago we started using synthetic oil in it. The other day we had to have some repairs done and the dealer installed regular oil in the crankcase. We had done a synthetic change 2 months ago. When advised that the wrong oil was placed into the crankcase, the service advisor maintained that it would not do any harm to the engine. Will it?>>>>>>>>
  21. I have been going on line looking for rental cars and when you get a decent price for a rental then they show you what the junk charges are. For example I pulled up a weekly rental on a full size car at $163.00 at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale, and lo and behold, there are about $75.00 worth of absolute bogus junk charges that they try adding on top of that. This is nonsense. Where can you look for a rental at an honest price without all the crap fees? I wil be looking to rent again on August 12-19th.
  22. We really enjoyed meeting trinacriabob, too. We all rode together in the Lacrosse and it performed very well in a torrential rain on the way back from dinner.
  23. I am leasing Lacrosse with a 3.8 and decided to drop in a K&N. I see only a very small improvement in fuel economy. As it is, the 3.8 with the K&N does not get better mileage than my previous supercharged 3.8 did. The only benefit is that I can run regular gas in the 3.8. Should I clean this filter annually to maximize the benefit?
