  1. I find some of the autos on the most stolen crazy and yet they are there due to the thefts. Glad none of my autos are on the list.
  2. I would give GM a better chance of selling a $20K mass produced EV to the masses before Tesla does if Tesla does at all. They still owe many who gave them a free loan with the crazy reservation price a 2.0 roadster. Plenty of commercial companies reserved Semi trucks and still do not have them. Quality is a joke and other than hard core Tesla Kool-Aid drinking fans, the Cybertruck is dead on delivery. Tesla has a dated looking 4 auto portfolio and clearly needs some style updates on top of their quality has much to be desired.
  3. Missed the whole Burt Reynolds thing, thought it was about the TransAm / Firebird. No smugness my friend intended.
  4. Same here, while I would like a new auto, my 2006 Escalade and 2008 SS are running fine. I might get a new head unit in the Escalade as the wife has been saying that when she drives it, she misses plugging in her phone and having it all on the screen like the SS she normally drives. Thinking of the Kenwood Excelon Reference head unit. DMX1037S | Navigation and Multimedia | Car Audio | Car Entertainment | KENWOOD USA
  5. I disagree with you on the Tesla cheap EV over Chevrolet Bolt. The Bolt is selling well and people love it. With GM getting lower cost EVs out onto the market this year as they ramp up production, I expect GM will make bank on their EV business unlike others. So according to the news out of China based on folks out of China Tesla Plant, Mexico will be ready to install production gear Q1 2025 and testing so your looking at Q1 2026 for production of EVs out of Mexico. Later, exclusive丨Tesla's Mexico plan: start production in the first quarter of 2025, and reengineer the Shanghai plant in China's supply chain (latepost.com)Later, exclusive丨Tesla's Mexico plan: start production in the first quarter of 2025, and reengineer the Shanghai plant in China's supply chain (latepost.com) As far as Tesla building in India and offering low cost EVs, seems the price of a tesla is double that of local Indian Auto companies and Chinese that are already importing EVs into India even with an importation tax of 100%, the Chinese EVs are still cheaper than Tesla, this will limit Tesla sales with a cheap auto that is double the price of all over equal EVs. Tesla looking to make about half million EVs annually in India, Times of India reports | Reuters
  6. Where is the EV Firebird?
  7. I get it but as I have posted with the ATP of trucks, it is hard to say that the Mach-e, Tesla Y or 3 or even the Chevrolet Blazer SS are excessive in price. I honestly hope that the auto companies realize that loaded entry level EVs are still needed. I can so see a NEW MUSCLE CAR ERA coming with what Dodge is doing, Ford and GM have rumors about doing. So I can see a new EV Muscle Car ERA coming. Unless you really need to replace an auto, I hate to say it but I would tell anyone asking me to hold off as with Solid State batteries expecting to become standard in EVs by 2025, I expect a major tech advancement in EVs that make todays EVs while they are good, about to go old like a Horse and Buggy.
  8. Wife asked me to run her to Kohl's for Amazon returns. Just noticed that Kohl's has 2 generic DC chargers from where I am parked. Then next door no more than 50 feet away at Target is a 6 stall DC fast charging station with a Hyundai Ioniq. Leaving my neighborhood the guy who does auto detailing had this lovely 1934 Cadillac.
  9. @oldshurst442 @ccap41 @trinacriabob @NINETY EIGHT REGENCY knowing you guys love your cars thought you would like this press release as this Alfa is back as an EV and ICE. Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale: daring to dream | Alfa Romeo | Stellantis There is a good story here with comparison of the new version to the original. New Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale: Stunning Flagship Pays Tribute To Alfa’s Original Supercar | Carscoops Have to be honest that this is the only Alfa I have ever liked when I was a kid and have to say they NAILED it in a Modern 21st Century version above. Posted in the Escalade IQ thread, but also deserves to be here: https://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/topic/97340-cadillac-news-cadillac-electrifies-an-icon-with-the-cadillac-escalade-iq/?do=findComment&comment=921532
  10. Interesting read. Ford retires gas-powered cars in electric vehicle expansion - TheStreet
  11. I would say he was just lazy about parking in the proper spot rather than taking two spots.
  12. @Drew Dowdell @ccap41 @oldshurst442 @trinacriabob @Robert Hall @NINETY EIGHT REGENCY @A Horse With No Name Seems that GM is planning Ultium in Sedans and Coupes by 2026. I am very excited by this commercial and love the look of the trucks, SUVs and the fact that cars and coupes are clearly mentioned by 2026. I expect some exciting reveals over the next 18 months. I would love to see an EV Camaro, 442, Monte Carlo, El Camino, etc. I can see so much potential here.
  13. Seems EVs did not start the Ship Fire. EVs May Not Have Caused Fremantle Highway Fire After All | Carscoops @oldshurst442 I know we touched on this in one of our threads here, but seems it was either an ICE issue or actual Ship issue that started the fire. All 500 EVs on board are still in sellable shape once they get the lower levels unloaded.
  14. Amazing all the Clock choices and yet how little they really have changed in the centuries since Clocks started to be made.
  15. Yes, the IRA will have a slowdown effect on Chinese, but with the quality of the Chinese and the obvious issues that are affecting the Chinese country, I do not see any of the auto companies coming here in the next few years. Tesla is having enough problems with their Truck and their track record is terrible at delivering autos even Semi trucks on schedule. I doubt you will see a $20-30K Tesla in the next few years. maybe around 2026-2027 for Tesla. Yet by then Korea and other auto Companies here in the US will have EVs in that segment. Ultium Bolt is coming and already GM has stated the costs will drop by 40% over the current model year. That alone will give GM a big entry level EV for the masses.
  16. Depending on the Company and country, 2030 to 2035 will be a phase out period of ICE autos and EVs truly will be the only choice for various regions. I can easily see with all the battery capacity coming online by 2025 that EV Options will be very plentiful and for many the obvious choice.
  17. I have to say that I am liking the Performance versions of both Hyundai and Kia SUVs.
  18. Disagree vote is just too strong with the red down arrow, but I just have never really gotten into Bugatti and especially the watches just are Blah weird to me. Guess I am just too simple for something too complex.
  19. OK @trinacriabob tossed me for a fall as I missed Hot August Nights 2023 as I was looking for the other title. @Drew Dowdell Anyway to merge this thread I opened into this older existing thread? August 2023 Auto Spotting Thread - The Lounge - Cheers & Gears (cheersandgears.com) Have to say that I am impressed with EVgo charging stations and I see many Chevrolets, Fords and Hyundai/Kia EVs using them here in my area.
  20. For those that like all black, Ford has a Platinum Black Edition of the Ford F150 Lightning pickup in Matte Black. F-150 Lightning Platinum Black Edition (shorthandstories.com)
  21. Two really good reads that I wanted to share here: Charged EVs | EV charging is changing, Part 1: How automakers' disappointment in Electrify America drove them into Tesla’s arms - Charged EVs Charged EVs | EV charging is changing, Part 2: No, NACS is not today’s Tesla connector - Charged EVs
  22. Totally disagree with you that by the time the Ultium Bolt comes out, the price will still be the entry level price point in the product roadmap. Buying ICE today is like building a horsebarn in the early 1900's, time to move forward with the ages especially when EV is not that expensive when you look at the ATP of what people are paying for ICE Trucks. ATP or average transaction price for GM, Ford and RAM for trucks are as follows:Q2 2023 ATP GMC Sierra - $71,924 Ram 1500 - $68,273 Ford F-series - $66,013 Toyota Tundra - $63,232 Chevy Silverado - $59,588 GMC Pickups ATP Highest In Full-Size Segment In Q2 2023 (gmauthority.com) FUD on the whole EVs are too expensive when you look at the ATP of ICE autos.
  23. Just like this story, buying an ICE auto is pretty much like building a horse barn in the early 1900's as auto's took off on sales and the build out of gas stations was underway. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/buying-a-gas-powered-car-in-2030-will-be-like-building-a-horse-barn-in-1910-rivian-ceo-220253.html Wife is wanting to go check out the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Rivian, so might get out there this coming weekend and see if I fit. I do love the fact that the Ioniq 5 gets an N Performance edition at the end of this year. AWD with 478 kW or 641 HP in regular N mode or 650 kW / 872 HP in boosted mode. IONIQ 5 - Hyundai Newsroom
  24. Interesting website on all things Electric. Cars, Bikes, etc. Move Electric
