Chevrolet News:Debut: 2016 Chevrolet Cruze
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I'll go against the grain, I'm not liking the new design. It's cohesive and clean, I'm just not digging the new design language of the Cruze, Malibu, and Volt. Doesn't have the American panache of the Impala, Colorado, Vette, Camaro, or all of Cadillac. It'll sell really well, and I look forward to seeing reviews. Pretty much the worst thing anyone had to say about the outgoing Cruze was the low power, well now it has a stout 153 hp and 177 lb-foot with an NFL linebacker worth of weight removed from the car. Plus they're dropping the total garbage 1.8L base engine, a motor that didn't belong in the car (or the Sonic) at all, ever.- 64 replies

You seem to be overlooking some key details about the SRX. It already HAS an active damping suspension, the interior goes up in quality with equipment levels, including real wood trim, and the kicker is that the SRX offers REAL torque-vectoring AWD with an eLSD. The black label Lincolns are nice, and so is the optional turbo V6, but don't sit here and tell us how inferior GM products are when you clearly didn't research them. If you compare the volume selling trim levels, you'll have equal 300+ hp engines, equally luxurious interiors, and trade back and forth on certain features. I did not say GM products are inferior. Please don't get defensive. I am however, in this Lincoln thread, refusing to believe the constant negativity toward Lincoln that is displayed in many threads, by suggesting this MKX is superior. And yes, I was wrong on the suspension, Everything else, I was correct on. Well no... you suggested that GM has nothing to compete with the MKX. I didn't address the relative "goodness" of either the SRX, nor the Enclave, nor the MKX. I am simply pointing out that your assertion that "GM doesn't have anything to compete with the MKX" is incorrect. The MKX is a good vehicle, it is also one of the newest in its segment for about 6 months. That doesn't mean that there is no competition. I think that's sugarcoating it. He literally just said: "I did not say GM products are inferior... I am however, in this Lincoln thread, refusing to believe the constant negativity toward Lincoln that is displayed in many threads, by suggesting this MKX is superior." That sentence wholeheartedly contradicts itself. He's been implying quite clearly and condescendingly that GM luxury crossovers are inferior to the MKX, but we wont understand because this is primarily a GM site.

Go Lutz Yourself: what luxury means in the modern era

I agree, the Lincoln Continental CONCEPT is more luxurious than the Cadillac CT6 PRODUCTION car. Unfortunately it's also on a FWD chassis, soooo... -

They also have a similar parking assist feature as well and someone seems to forget that the SRX is 6 years old so of course it will be lacking a certain newness compared to a 2016 MKX. It's redesign cannot come soon enough though because it just doesn't fit in with Cadillac's newer crop of cars. That's the real kicker, isn't it? Cadillac engineered the SRX more than half a decade ago, and it only falls short by lacking an optional engine and interior glam packages. I can't wait to bring this thread back up when the SRX replacement is unveiled in the next 6 months.

That'd rock. My PSN user name is the same as my screen name here if you wanted to add me, same for you 'Bong if you do decide to hook up the PS3. Hey ccap, I picked up a Boss 302 in the game (obviously) last night, but even after a few mods (suspension, flywheel, driveshaft, tires), the thing really feels like a dog. I'm assuming you have one, is there a good way to wake it up? I was trying to use it for the N/A race series because it was right around the performance limit stock, and it utterly failed to produce for me. This is the car that ran neck and neck with an M3 in a real life comparison, so I know Gran Turismo shafted it. On the other hand, I've found the Focus ST to be one of my favorite driver's cars in the game. After driving the sled-like rendition of the Boss, the Focus feels like a f@#king RC car on steroids, in the best possible way. The thing just flies and handles on rails. I utterly destroyed the turbocharged series. I was driving like a total jackass on one technical track I don't think I've driven before and the car just ate up all my mistakes and zipped out of all the turns. Honestly, I'm not sure. I do have it but I've raced it in the stupid raced waaaay detuned just because I want to use it but it is doggy there. But things like the flywheel and tires on the highest settings with a lower powered car I think can actually hamper it some. If your tires are too sticky it will give the illusion that isn't slower than it is and I think if you look under the "stage 3" flywheel(or whatever) it says something about how it isn't always best.. I'll have to look into it though. YES! I love the ST. It is definitely my go-to on <500pp races. If I could learn how to tune the differential on cars I think I could be a lot better at setting my cars up.. I think I can do a fairly good job at the suspension settings but I know I don't put enough effort into the diffs. Have you ever tried to use an internet tune? ie. a tune somebody posted online. It might help you more than me because on GT5 I really wanted a moster C63 but I could never set it up to take a turn, drove like an old school muscle car. So, I googled a few setups(they were all very different..) and tried them. I think the controller made it very difficult to take advantage of the subtle changes a good setup will give you. The steering of the Boss just doesn't have the sharpness I've read about, and the motor just doesn't have the high rpm rush of power you expect above 5000 rpm. I'm not trying to make a fanboy comparison here, but I wound up detuning my Camaro SS to win that series, I wasn't about to buy another car. The Boss 302 should be better on the track in every way. Also, I use the twin plate flywheel on my cars to get the best results without compromise. Not sure how much difference it actually makes, though. My favorite high powered car to drive is the CTS-V coupe. They REALLY made that car shine in this game as far as handling. After some weight reduction, it's unstoppable, basically a poor man's (poor gamer's?) CTS-V.R race car.

Ooooo "Brown Edition." Those are the best kind. I'm about to have a brown edition bathroom break.

He does have a point. You have really spin up the rpm in the 3.6 in the lambdas to get to that torque. That hurts fuel economy and makes them feel a little sluggish. It's also in the tune. Trying to get 17/24 mpg from the EPA test on the Lambdas was a mistake. With a few tweaks they'd drive much better without becoming gas guzzlers. Regardless, they'll be much better if the LGX makes it under the hood of the next gen. 284 lb-ft doesn't sound like a big difference, but I bet the new engine is making more torque everywhere in the powerband, plus it's a safe bet the Lambda platform is going on a diet and getting an 8-speed like everything else.

My name is TaurusSHO97. I tried to update my GT6 after about a six month hiatus and instead of updating, it blew up the game lol. Hopefully I can find a cheap one somewhere. It blew up your game? WTF does that even mean?

Never saw anything in the official press release about the 2.0T being the base engine, only that there would be a hybrid system PAIRED with the 2.0T offered on the car. I'm pretty sure the base engine will be the 335 hp V6.
-
Cool, I'll friend you later. I can't remember what mine is. Might just be my real name.

To be honest, I prefer how clean and tidy the Lincoln interior is.

@Drew - too much fake wood in the Enclave. Maybe it's real in higher trims, I dunno, the pattern and color just don't do anything for me. I like GMC's clean, hard edged design overall, the actual metal trim pieces in the Denali go a long way too. I guess technically a more fitting comparison would involve the Terrain Denali V6, and I REALLY like those. 301 hp V6 starts at $38k, it's much more my size too.
-
Enclaves are nice, but I'll take an Acadia Denali over it any day. The Lambdas are long in the tooth, but still pretty nice with the recent refreshes. I believe the full next gens are due to begin rolling out starting with the 2017 model year. I'm expecting 8-speeds and the LGX V6.

It would be badass if we could all race together some time.

Aaaaannnd now GT6 is taking over my PS3 with over 1 gig of updates. WTF is being added to the game?? I know it's not cars! I already installed one huge update a couple months after I got the game waaayy back near the release date. *Edit* Holy hell, it's a LOT more than 1 gig.

Finally dusted off GT6 and my racing wheel. Took some practice laps with my C6 Z06 to get used to the stick shift again, thinking I hadn't modded it much... until I hit 200 mph on the first straight away at the "high speed ring." "Holy sh*t, that's a fast 500 hp... Why is my redline 8000 rpm?" Backed up to the specs screen after a few insane laps. 690 hp, naturally aspirated of course. Then I did some easy races with my Focus ST, modded it up over 300 hp and put some black Enkies on it because the stockers are terrible looking. Good times.

Yeah, I hope Lincoln has some changes in store to make the MKC 2.3T more widely available. A trim with FWD and the 2.3T would be a good start, shaving a couple grand off the price would go a long way too. I mean seriously, the MKC 2.3T AWD starts at $40k and the MKX 2.7T AWD starts at 42,500? That's like 50% more car for 5% more money.

I read during the unveiling of the ATS Coupe that one of the major benefits of the less dramatic design was that it can pull double duty for a convertible. It was shelved during tight financial times, but I have a feeling we'll see an ATS vert with the Camaro's hardware.

Point taken. I see what you're saying, but hitting a home run makes it seem unforgivable. At least she could explain second base, that is if she's even going to tell the dude at all. If you're in a serious relationship, it wont matter if it was 1st base or having sex; it's over. If my girlfriend ever voluntarily stuck her tongue in another guy's mouth, besides being disgusted with her, I'd never trust her again. When you hear the cliche relationships are built on trust, it's no bullsh*t. There's chemistry, sexual attraction, and trust. Cheating at any level violates all three, but it breaks trust permanently.
-
Uh, where I'm from, the hookers are disgusting drug addicts. You'd be lucky not to catch something. Anyway, I'm not suggesting making a habit of being "the other guy" (and certainly don't start a relationship like that) but in situations like this, I don't see how any of it is YOUR moral responsibility. You both want to bump uglies, and she doesn't care enough about her boyfriend back home to stop. IMO you can't get to second base without already cheating. The moral line isn't drawn at sex.
-
Didn't think of that. Trust me, I understand. I always was "too nice" and cock blocked myself plenty of times. Hindsight is 20/20, but learn from this experience. Obviously don't hit on girls with boyfriends, but if one comes on to YOU, that's a green light. Turning her down wont improve her moral standards, it's clearly not a committed relationship, and you both just want to have fun on vacation.
-
You convinced her not to have sex with you? Dude. She's probably already cheated on the boyfriend before. You don't just have a couple drinks and accidentally fool around with another guy.
