    Only a matter of time before this would be seen, but in Washington where Prius are very popular, I am seeing more gen 1 & 2 types on the side of the roads. After all they are over 100K miles and in many cases people are not doing the maintenance.

    They almost don't need any. I've seen so many Toyotas that have been terribly, woefully unmaintained that still run and drive great. How they even run at all is a wonder.

    Very nice, I am very jealous, I am big fan of Astons. :)

    No pictures?

    So would you take Vantage over 911? :)

    I would take this Aston over any car I've ever driven by a decent margin. The only cars that really come close are the AMG GTS and 997.2 GT3.

    Probably the only 911 I would take over it would be 991 R or GT3 RS, or a new 991.2 GT3 w/ 6MT.

    I'll try to post some pictures up here later.

  3. ......and now I have never wanted something so badly in my life.

    Earlier I got a chance to take our 2017 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Coupe out. Nothing crazy. about a 10 mile loop through some local roads with a few esses and sweepers. Seven speed dogleg manual transmission. My. Gawd. Easily the most fun, coolest, most charismatic car I've ever driven by a comfortable margin. The sound, the power delivery, the shifter, steering, the physicality of it. Just unlike anything else I've ever been in. I drove it right after a Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder E-gear, and the Brit was so, so much enjoyable to drive. It's just intoxicating. You have to drive it, and it's not easy to drive. It's not delicate, and it's not cosseting. The steering is heavy, and direct, and full of feel. The throttle is micrometer shard and precise. As are the brakes. The shifter is delightfully mechanical feeling and a joy to use. Just be careful with the 2-3 up change lest you have one very, very pricey money shift into first. Dogleg transmission problems and all that. It's really just an incredibly immersive, involving car that you could spend a lifetime learning all the wonderful nuances and idiosyncrasies of.

    I can't fathom having the ability to own such a car and letting it go. It's simply spectacular. I've had the privilege to drive a lot of fun and cool cars in my day, and this is the one that will stick with me and make me long for another taste more than any other. This was the high water mark.

    As for the Lambo, it was pretty cool. Sounded great. The RWD layout definitely added some improved steering feel I felt like in comparison to the AWD car I recall driving several years ago. E-gear is a mess, but also adds a layer of involvement that would otherwise be missing. Would definitely be way better with a proper manual. The aforementioned steering is rather heavy, and does not result in as sharp of direction change as you'd expect. It's certainly good, but not great. It feels a bit unwieldy and a tad nervous. It was a fun drive, but mostly a one and done for me. It doesn't have enough tactility, nor outright performance to excuse it's general bad behavior. Think I'd rather an R8, unless we're talking a 6MT Balboni 550-2.

    The Corvette should be a $50-100k car, I think they could go base V6 maybe turbo V6.  Maybe a V6 hybrid set up to get 400 hp and keep weight manageable.  The C7R does well in its race league but it isn't a top tier league.  A stock LaFerrari could beat those GT class racers or a NASCAR for that matter.

    Let's look at real lap times form the Red Bull Ring, 4.3 km circuit

    Ferrari LaFerrari 1:38.9

    Lamborghini Hurcan 1:45.4

    Nissan GT-R Nismo 1:45.5

    Mercedes-AMG GT S 1:48.9

    Corvette Z07 1:49

    Porsche Cayman GT4 1:50.9

    And the Hurcan on down were the same driver.  The Corvette would give up 10 seconds a lap to the LaFerrari, that is a big gap, the LaFerrari would lap it every 10 laps.  And the LaFerrari gives up over 30 seconds a lap to an F1 car, think about that.

    So my point is the performance level that is possible is way, way above even a Corvette Z07, way above a 911 turbo (which is why they have the 918) and I think a road car can go way above that which Mercedes will prove this fall.

    WAIT.

    Did you just say a LaFerrari would beat a GT3/GTE car around a track??

    You cannot be serious. A GTE/GT3 car would absolutely murder any of the most recent crop of hyper cars on a circuit.

    Also-

    A Corvette don't compete with a hybrid hypercar. They exist for two completely different reasons, they appeal to completely different mindsets, and they are in totally different price and performance leagues.

    There will be a hybrid Corvette in way less than 15 years. I'd wager less than 5. No way is GM letting all the stuff they're learning with the Volt/Bolt and Malibu Hybrids go to waste. A hybrid Corvette is a no-brainer.

    Yup. These choices would make quite the collection! Its keeping constant with a certain theme, quite breathtaking to look at, and expensive.

    Love the Miura. Love the Carrera GT.

    The Chiron is just insaaaaane at 1500 horsepower. That is WW2 radial engine fighter plane realm.

    The F40 is simply the first to achieve insaaaaane speeds.

    The Miura is simply the first to be mid-engined and the first to be dubbed supercar.

    The McLaren is the first to be a calculated and precision beast and the Carrrera GT is THE last of this era of analog greatness.

    An AWESOME and INSANE collection!

    Thanks. There was definitely strong reasoning behind all my picks.

    The Carrera GT is my favorite car of all time, and definitely the last great analog supercar.

    The McLaren F1 is arguably the greatest supercar ever built, and is a must-have for such a collection.

    The Chiron is the current pinnacle of automotive engineering, and the fact that it doesn't resort to hybrid tech is great. Plus, it's the modern, streetable selection of my picks.

    The F40 is just obscene and raw in the best possible way. There's actually Ferrari's I like more, but for the purposes of this thread, it was it or nothing.

    And the Miura is the godfather of them all. The first true supercar, and imo, the most beautiful car ever made.

    Another reason for my choices- I have V8, V10, V12, and W16 engines. I have 2 forced induction cars, and 3 N/A ones. I have one topless car. I have one car from the 70's, one from the 80's, one from the 90's one the 2000's and one from today. In my mind, they were all the high water marks of their era; the best of the best.

  6. This was a very hard for me to come up with. There's a few cars I had to leave off that I really love- 599 GTO, Zonda F, 918, CLK GTR, but in the end, these are the 5 cars I couldn't live without in this realm-

    I have to say, I never disliked this thing in the first place, but I'm really starting to come around to it. It seems Ford really did make a racecar for the road, and I give them major props for that. In that light, I don't think the fact that it's a turbo V6 rather than a V8, V10, or V12 counts as much as a demerit. If you want a focused track weapon, this thing seems to offer more than even the big names across the pond has available. Bravo, Ford.

    5 cars on each list.

    Actually, a heck of a lot of freedom...second list, two new three old or vice versa...anything goes with a fair market value over half a million....absolutely anything. it doesn't even ahve to ahve sold for half a million....or even still exist for that matter.

    First list, no muscle cars, but you have an unlimited modification budget, the freedom to pick any American car in the base edition between 1950 and 1989, any post 73 truck, any post 71 Lincoln or Cadillac. the only thing I am excluding is traditional muscle cars and late model vehicles, really.

    The whole point of the first list is to get people away from high dollar cars and new stuff, second list is a total free for all.

    And I made the second list with you both in mind, Balthazar and Frisky....Balthazar...every great GM concept car from the 50's and 60's could fit on this list...so many cars from the brass era and pre WW II Classic era.

    Frisky...you challenged me to start looking at more exotic and high dollar cars...this thread is a "thank you" for that. Ferrari F-40 or Enzo anyone? Pagani Huayra or Porsche 918?

    How many interesting ex F1 cars or other competition vehicles could bring half a million....Craig Breedlove's land speed record car? All kinds of interesting ideas exist....

    Okay, 2nd question?

    For the new cars, can they be non-2017/2018?? Like, would a still new 2015 or 2016 work?

  10. This Dream Garage thread is going to be similar to one I did recently where you have to pick from certain choices to fill certain criteria, or roles. But this time it will be based on nationality rather than price.

    You will have mostly the same roles in this one-

    * One off-road vehicle- Must be a truck or SUV.

    * One daily driver- Absolutely NO dedicated sports cars or sports coupes- so no Mustang, Camaro, Chally, etc.

    * One weekend/fun car- Anything sporty goes for this one, but must be street legal.

    * One track car- Anything intended mostly, or exclusively for track use here- Atoms, BAC Monos, etc. Does not have to be street legal.

    * One family vehicle- Must have at least 4 doors- can be hatch, sedan, or CUV/non off-road geared SUV; NO trucks

    *One cruiser/lux/GT vehicle- Must be a car that is not outright sports or supercar- Ferrari California is okay, 599 GTO is NOT; Dodge Challenger is okay, Viper is NOT.

    Now, one choice must hail from each-

    * UK

    * Germany

    * Italy

    * Japan

    * U.S.

    * Your pick from any OTHER region- Mexico, France, etc

    Have fun!

  11. Haven't really been partaking in these, but I've seen a white 991 GT3 and Mantis Green McLaren 675 LT every day on my way to work and back for about the past month and a half. The GT3 is owned by the owner of the Dent Wizard they are parked at, and the McLaren belongs to friend.

    We sold a completely blacked out 488 to one of our customers a few weeks back. It was stunning. And speaking of Bentaygas, we are supposed to be getting one in the next few weeks.

    Everyone has their right to say what they want but your statement came across to me in the way it was posted as negative and you never expanded on it. Just a negative reading post. So since I do not remember everyone's posts, mine I feel is valid in questioning you since you seem to be lately just ranting on how great the VW auto is. Then you post what seems like a negative post of how could you buy this.

    I am happy you find them great.

    There was nothing remotely negative about it. You chose to interpret it as such so could pick a fight because you are of feeble and childish mind.
