    Camaro V8

first year, it'll be a 3.9L v6 making close to 250hp, priced around the same as a base v6 mustang and there will be a 6.2L v8 making close to 450hp, priced around the same as a base Mustang GT and there will be a 3.6L, Direct Injected, DOHC v6 making over 300hp, priced somewhere between the above one or two years later, there will be a V8 making over 500hp, priced a bit less than a Shelby GT500 mark my words
  3. there is a video of the report on their site.. go here http://abcnews.go.com/ click Video in the menu on the left... Then Science and Technology Then about the 4th one down "Automakers showcase...."
  4. this is just some concept designed by an italian dude.. i guess if it's a hit they'll consider it for the design of the next mustang.. but i doubt there's any plans for that at the moment that said, i do like the front end.. the whole roof glass thing kinda makes it look wierd.. having the windshield blend into the roof like that.. i'm not sure if i like it or not i like the interior, with the exception of the horse hide seat inserts.. the rear is kinda funky looking.. it certainly looks better than the current production mustang.. but i still think it's not as good as the Camaro Concept imo
  5. what kinda power are we talking about here.. the Tiburon has always been a prety good looking car.. but sucked in the power department
  6. wow, great noise.. Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime.. thankfully his voice hasnt changed much in the last 20 years.. here he is narrating a World of Warcraft trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKJmMLTxlCw
  7. there's another interview of Bob Lutz out there, don't have the link handy.. where he says "100-150" to make it profitable.. 100, now that's a reasonable number
  8. that's a different interview.. the one most of we are talking about is the one done by whats her name, right after the reveal, during the original GMTV feed
  9. well, that could be because the 4th gens were not practical cars.. not appealing to the masses, only to the enthusiest.. that was part of the problem.. the mustang was more appealing to a lot of people, a smaller car, more comfortable seating position, easier to get in and out of, an actual trunk....
  10. i did a little research.. it wasnt easy because there are a lot of conflicting numbers.. but the conflicts arent large, i usually chose the larger of the two if a certain year had conflicting numbers.. i just wanted to see the camaro and firebird sales, vs mustang sales.. and total fbody sales vs mustang sales.. interestingly enough, the average yearly sales for the fbody is higher than for the mustang.. http://home.comcast.net/~builder228/stuff/...rproduction.htm
  11. everything i read says this is gonna go into production in 2008.. that probably means 2009 model year.. it will beat the camaro by at most a few months.. best case scenario for the camaro.. the solstice went to production in 19 months.. do that for the camaro and it could be out by 3rd quarter 07.. wouldnt that be somethin.. i doubt that'll happen though
  12. sure the 30k+ coupel market is dormant.. but this camaro wont cost that much, at least not the base model.. the V6 or whatever the base model is, is probably gonna be low 20s.. that is what's gonna generate the big sales.. the v8 model, if priced similar to the GTO will outsell the GTO hugely.. based on styling alone.. whos to say with these two big RWD 2+2 coupe concepts coming out, it won't wake up the market? optimism
  13. those production numbers are camaro only though, the market who bought the firebird could easily move over to buy this new camaro.. anyone have firebird production numbers? or total fbody production? if the buzz is good enough, this thing can sell 160k.. it is entirely possible.. RWD? no problem, look how popular the chrysler LX cars are.. coupe? coupes are huge among the younger crowd.. what self respecting single guy would get a sedan over a coupe?.. with 30mpg highway, you really can't complain about it being a gas hog.. i can see this thing selling quite well, i believe the market is there, it just needs to rise above the competition not only in straight line performance, but in fit, finish, quality, comfort, etc.. it can be done.. this can be a better car, and thus a better seller than the 4th gen.. optimism..
  14. the 4th gen f-body was also not a practical user friendly car, with a lot of aged engineering that had been used for 20 years.. .. this thing should, if they do it right, be a lot more consumer and user friendly, easier to get in and out of, bigger back seat, etc.. not to mention better ride and handling, and an design that many will find appealing.. i don't doubt that this thing will outsell both fbodies top 4th gen numbers, alone
