  1. I used to have the brochure and remember the Bicentennial themed names of colors. Yours is Musket Brown since my Dad's Regal coupe of the same year with the funky firing 3.8 2bbl. V6 was Musket Brown with a tan landau top. Other interesting names included Colonial Cream, Potomac Blue, Independence Blue, among others. I do like the full size RWD GM cars of that era but the Bonneville Brougham and Grandville Brougham, particularly in coupe form and with a vinyl roof, go to "the head of the class."
  2. K.C. dude, I can't possibly be trendy driving a 92 Regal coupe...just practical! Response to thread: caveat
  3. Not much on Sat. and Sun. except getting ready to hop on a plane. I'll be in the air on Monday, going to ATL. No more fun trips. Going to ATL and Florida for a week apiece to check them out for relocation. If those don't "work out" then I will default to the West. But somehow, I think I will in fact make the cross-country relocation to the East since I loved living in ATL when I was there for 2 years.
  4. Pricing seems ok. The "in person" test will enable buyers to decide...will I pop almost $ 20 K for the base model and so on? The only disappointment I see is that the hybrid does NOT churn out that much more gas mileage over the base 4 cylinder. Why is that? I would have expected a leap in mpg to justify the price uptick. Don't Prius's get mileage that's way better than that?

  7. Have you seen the color chips for the new Buicks, particularly for the LaCrosse? Disappointing. The Dark Mocha is basically a dark root beer brown and not a sable type shade. The Midnight Blue is almost black. The Gold Mist looks like a urine sample. The 2 reds are pretty mainstream; that is, no deep burgundy or a "cool" shade like Mulberry seen on Cadillacs and SUVs in years past Lastly, the absence of a Light Quartz equivalent is bad news for a brand that sells well in light blues. Overall, I find the color palette too dark. Do you agree?

  10. It seems like you can't see your own doctor anymore. The last 2 doctors I've had both used their physician's assistants extensively. What a pain in the ass. Both of the doctors had not-so-great P.A.s - at the first doctor about 4 years ago, I had to battle to get the antibiotics I needed for a laceration that had gone south because she was too busy concentrating on blood pressure (which reads normal when not at the doctor). The second doctor had a P.A. who screwed up some prescriptions. You have to SPECIFICALLY make an appointment to see your MD because nowadays they use their P.A.s for more routine stuff. Just took my Mom to the doctor she has had for at least 10 years. She has, as of late, been seeing her P.A. It's Portland, so ... surprise, this chick is most likely a "carpet muncher" who actually came across as kind of flakey. (Also, carpet muncher right before helping us at the new organic food market and then another pumping my gas after the doctor's appointment...any wonder I don't plan to stay around here. ) I told my Mom it's time she gets a new MD because the 8 mile trip is no longer justified to see a garden-variety P.A. Have you had to deal with the onslaught of physician assistants (basically, nurses on steroids)? Are you happy or unhappy about it?

  12. Was wondering if engine misfire/hesitation takes a toll on timing chains? My Regal's 3800 V6 had a flat spot in the low rpms where acceleration after shifting into 4th (approx 47 mph) was accompanied by hesitation and misfiring which cleared itself up above 55 mph. Initially, I thought it was the torque converter, but it was only under acceleration after a low throttle upshift (such as merging or approaching a hill) and not all the time. Had this exact same thing happen about 5 years ago and I changed plug wires which got rid of it. I got new plug wires 2 weeks ago and the problem is gone! This was the car's only driveability quirk. My question: I had this condition for about 6 months on this go-around and was wondering which engine system that is taxing on? The timing chain? The gas mileage is still stellar. Sidebar: My RWD Cutlass had a 3.8 V6 which had an intermittent pinging issue and the chain went out at 160,00. My RWD Cutlass with a 350 V8 never gave up the timing chain.

  15. I don't think about it. I went from having about 10 friends from college that, over time faded, down to 1...I happen to be on vacation and staying in his place in San Diego as I write this. Some got married and their wives changed the dynamics (those bitches) and others, upon reflection, were jerks. I also have some high school friends and neighborhood friends that remain. Fewer friends from the workplace, though. You know what the deal is: your best friends are those made with NO ulterior motive...that is, you make good friends when younger (and that includes college) because that's who you really enjoy hanging out with...you didn't factor "what they could do for you" into the equation. I try not to think about it. However, if you are doing things you like (hobbies and such), then you ought to meet people you are cut out to be friends with. It sounds like you have ruled out bars...good for you. Pursue other avenues that involve intellectual interests. I've always meant to ask...what part of the country or major metro area do you live in? With a name like "usonia" I've always assumed Chicago and/or Midwest. Am I right?

  17. Ha haActually, it's kind of sad. I really like it when somebody comes from humble origins, and not of the "good ole boy" breeding, and makes it big. It's what America is supposed to be all about. This guy blew it, though, by using bad judgment, apparently.
  18. impotent Did you hear about the black guy who went to get a vasectomy wearing a tuxedo? He said "If I'm gonna be impotent, I'm gonna look impotent." Next.
