Engine trouble codes...GM style...
I can't complain after 15 years and almost a quarter of a million miles. From another thread, I have to get either a tie rod or a front wheel bearing assembly fixed...but that can wait until early next week. Now, I evidently have a sensor problem. For a while now, the SES light came and went intermittently and the only noticeable problem was a surge right after shifting into OD (4th) at relatively low rpms (1600 or so) and, right after shifting, if the engine is put under load. It was sort of a flat spot. Now the SES light is on "full time." Upon start-up, the 3800 revs up a little more than usual, idling is rough and the tach seems to wander (better with A/C on, which almost eliminates it) and it's running rich. Sensors replaced: within the last year or so, the O2 sensor three years ago, the MAF sensor Suspected culprits (based on reading some articles): MAF Sensor Idle Control Valve Throttle Position Sensor I had it in Saturday, he found a code that didn't need fixing (false read) and I have to bring it back. But, there are smarter and more mechanically inclined people here than myself. Have you had this happen? What was it?

what do you think about europen cars?
Bemvindo, Deds! Uma outra pessoa do Portugal ... eu fui em Lisboa seis vezes! Gosto muito da sua cidade! I think that, first and foremost, there is an American obsession with European things as being "cool" or "the way to be." I will say that their "upper end" cars are impressive cars. However, their entry level cars are highly functional but not suitable for American driving conditions, except in maybe the densest of cities. (When I see these cars, the first thing that goes through my mind is that I would not want to be clipped by a Cadillac or an SUV). About specific European cars I know: Italian: - one cousin in Florence IT has a Punto; this is the bread and butter Fiat car. It seems to serve her well... - Lancia Ypsilon - uglier than sin; it looks like a caricature (in Italy, it is nicknamed "L'Elefantino") Spanish: - I think the S.E.A.T. Ibiza coupe (the model in existence about 3 to 4 years ago) is the best looking of the bread and butter entry-level European cars French: - another cousin in Sicily has a Twingo; it seems to work well for him; it is unusual looking in the front, like it's sad or something... - I am expecting to have a Citroen C-3 on Gran Canaria this summer German: - I have Mercedes Smarts reserved at most of my European destinations this summer (being that they are automatic instead of manual) - obviously, Mercedes makes impressive cars but they just don't feel right to me; if I had money to throw away on a car, I'd buy a Cadillac DTS in Ice Blue Metallic Another thing to keep in mind is that European cars are very costly here (to buy, to insure and to repair).

Thank you. Very thorough to you and Olds. I have an appointment next week and will try to drive it as little as possible in the mean time.

DIRTY DANCING -NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER
Yeah, I'm taking my stuff up there to store it at the end of the month while I travel. MAX = decent system; the end of the line is where the Greshies live (people from Gresham) Local beer = hate ALL beer Local cuisine = lots of good eateries, but I like portion size over presentation. Weather = my Mom says it has been nice lately BACK TO THREAD: whenever Reg runs a chick or Rosie thread, it degenerates into a relationship thread and acquires a life of its own!

What's your favorite type of juice?
I had been drinking orange juice or grapefruit juice just about every morning. I love it, no doubt, and it's good for you, but I picked up some apple juice on sale and talk about delicious and soothing. Not as tart, either. What is your favorite type of juice?

Neither, reg, instead procure someone who looks just like Jill St. John did in "Diamonds Are Forever" Reg, can you dig up a picture of "Tiffany Case"? Now, that's for eye-candy, but not to settle down with. Unlike P-C-S, the Aryan look he likes doesn't work for me, having always dated the brown-brown combo (Italian, Argentinian, Greek, Cuban, Lebanese).
