  3. So, now, since my brain is mush from a night final, explain the significance of the plate...
  4. The rear part of the greenhouse has a little too much Jetta in it. It seems like we've run out of design ideas when the expanses in sheetmetal are constrained.
  5. very flattering view of WV, Nickster.
  6. I guess that would be equivalent to the situation on our shore; however, a good chunk of them don't work and some of them are involved in illegal activities. Most of the prostitutes are from Eastern Europe and they are really stuck between a rock and a hard place (Catch 22 situations for most of them). Still, it is a strain on the social fabric. And, yes, Mario and Lucia will continue to live at home with their parents rather than take those jobs you probably refer to.
  7. Right. I was thinking the same thing. The Lumina was around, but no MC (what was the gap anyway, 1988-1994, something like that?)
  8. Yes. And these people are generally insecure and know the least. My Mom has a neighbor who moved up from San Jose who is the dumbest bitch ever and who won't shut up. My friends and I refer to her as "the doorknob." The subject she is most garrulous about is religion - specifically Catholicism - which irks the f*c* out of me since I already belong to the religion, have 16 years of Catholic school and don't want to hear any more. There's a great expression for these people: "They don't know how much they don't know." Seriously, D83, she sounds like a DB, so just ignore her, no matter how tempting it might be to verbally take a hit.
  9. During college/university, since I initially started out in the business school, I worked part-time at a hospital near LAX in the controller's office. It was bolted onto the billing office where I also worked on special projects for the auditors and such. I got to see a lot of patient files. My favorite: a man named Noble Hooker. Seriously. Everybody loved that file.
  10. My friend from San Diego and I were rummaging through the California DMV web site looking for plates that were either taken or still available. I forgot if they were there or not --- probably disallowed. We were looking for these two: 1. MUFTANG - Mustang said with a speech impediment, or more accurately: MUFF + TANG. Got it? 2. BREAD 8 - Translate those words to Spanish. Got it? As you can see, I like the nasty ones.
  11. We'll have to agree to disagree - I think the execution on the Impy/MC is cleaner. So, does anybody have any pictures of the rump on this sled? It is pinhole circular lamps a la Cobalt?
  12. OK, TC, but it seems to function as a bumper in Impala/MC so it makes it seem like one snout "above the bumper;" the grouping is odd in the 'Bu IMHO.
  13. Very perceptive, Sci. I was running down one of those stair underpasses in the Messina Italy train station to make my track and saw some graffiti on the wall saying "L'Italia e di noi Italiani"...or "Italy belongs to us Italians" -- they are doing virtually nothing about all the undocumented Albanians, Eastern Europeans and North Africans that are there illegally. Some of my relatives say that this is their "America," indicating the big bump-up in standard of living over what they came from. They, too, risk drowning in the passage to "the boot" and keep coming back all over again if returned to their native homelands.
  14. The Impala and the Monte (2006 +) have a single snout. Check them out.On the trucks, there tends to be a taller expanse, so I don't notice it as much. Plus, being a car-only type of person, I don't notice truck styling to the extent I notice car styling.
  15. Dude, you're stealing my thunder. I'm the resident anti-bull-dyke member. Some people have a problem with that, but at least I'm honest. I err on the side of caution and avoid them.
  16. Is it just me, but does the UNEQUAL split between the upper and the lower grille (and it's pretty damn obvious) bother anyone else? I worry about stuff like this on buildings I work on, so you can bet I will notice it on a car. It detracts from the car's look, like it was a mistake. Otherwise, damn fine job, Chevrolet. What, with $ 2.50 a gallon for gas, no 2.2 Ecotec with a few extra "ponies" for the cheapskates (I'm including myself) out there?

  19. You're kidding, right? That crazy road is in Bolivia, or at least one of them is...and it claims lives on a constant basis and, being a third world country, they don't do much about it. Angeles Crest is pretty benign. What's sad is when you get down to those turn-outs closer to LaCrescenta and it's either smoggy or hazy that you can't see the skyscrapers of LA in the distance. Now what is more frightening is California 1 between Big Sur and San Simeon. On the southbound drive, when you are above the ocean, there is NO messing around. For that reason, I wll go north on 1 but south on inland 101.
  20. I'm laughing my ass off. That quick of a response... and affirmative to boot. So it's still there. I'll have to chow down there next time I'm there, which ought to be next September. In August 2003, I had gone to see a childhood friend in Spokane WA and decided to STRETCH my trip in my rented Olds Alero....all the way to Calgary and Banff.
  21. Funny how university initials recycle themselves. That would be my alma mater (University of Washington) in the states. Great thread idea, BTW, though my story is not as interesting as your particular experience. That's too weird! My dad had one of those late-70s Regals that happened to have the 3.8 liter V6 with a carburetor. It made 110 hp and that wasn't enough to lug this big car around. It was slow....but reliable from what I recall. It became "extra" so we decided to sell it. We didn't have to advertise because word of mouth among a few Italians we knew got the message to this Italian guy and his family who could never figure out if he wanted to live in Los Angeles or South Florida. He bought the car. I heard he took it to Florida. I then saw the Regal (it had a padded landau) driving down the street somewhere in L.A. It was him, because he had a big nose. He evidently came back to L.A. But then I heard he went back to Florida.
