  1. Agreed. Threads designed to incite a bash-fest against any specific member, past or present, are uncool, not to mention immature. When I've posted my slightly controversial threads (lesbians, etc.), they are both broad-brush and about a group that doesn't post here. I've also snapped back at a few who will "snipe and run away" at a comment or observation within a thread, but it was elicited by a remark I didn't care for. Uptight? I doubt it. Honest to the point you may not like it? Yes.
  2. Except for the atheistic part (which doesn't work for me), that's a nice sig, BV.

  4. As with the others' observations, you probably know BM implies something else. Evidently, you put him in the same league. I'm in agreement with the question that was posed "Can't this guy put up these ads in his own town?" Buickman, I suppose, is taking advantage of the fact that he looks more like a newscaster or a church usher to entice Medicare Mabel into her next Buick. Admittedly, he does have a tinge of a "PeeWeeHerman on a collision course with a Pat Buchanan supporter" look, but, overall he looks like a 40-ish family man (both that age and that concept would be "gross" to the creator of the thread, as you've alluded to before). I'll tell you what. If the general population were polled as to which of two faces they would rather look at on their daily commute, they would probably opt for his clean-cut countenance rather than your pouty collagen-induced "niche" look. Get a life, please.

  10. No, bobo, that's exactly what I did/am doing, in addition to getting railed by the CEs at a conference this morning (I pinch hit for my boss) because my "D.B." boss is asking for more parking lot changes and they are tired of the iterations. And, now, I'm at the library. But it'll be over soon. And I will dunk myself in some hot springs in the Tahoe vicinity to celebrate! Thanks!
  11. Happy birthday, Mr. American Revolution 2005, since you pointed that out on my birthday thread. I don't know what that fetches in Canada, but I think it allows you to drive in most of the states down here in "the colonies." At any rate, have a great one! I'd put one of those bitchen' houses in your neighborhood in your combined birthday/Christmas stocking, but I don't think it would fit!

  13. I was surprised to see that "Cadillac" is one of the stops on the Montreal metro system. "Ooh-la-la," as my friends, the frogs, would say. Evidently, anything that ends with "lac" is the same as an Anglophone name ending with "lake." Yo, TYD, in which Montreal McDonald's is this plaque located? I'm going to "YUL" next year, again, using those wonderful miles!

  16. Funny...I once had a co-worker with the same birthday, we got put on the same project, we were night and day, oil and water, and almost went for each others' throats....apparently the stars WEREN'T aligned. Presents....Mom (Dad has expired) usually gives me money...which seems to cover the Christmas trip up to Portland (and that's fine).

  18. Muito obrigado, amigo! Preciso falar Portugues melhor porque eu gosto muito do Portugal e as coisas Portuguesas...uma casa com vista do oceano me aguarda no Algarve no minho futuro (right, I wish).
  19. Mi piace moltissimo! You know what that means, right?
  20. Mille grazie!
  21. Are YOU getting Social Security? Well, then...But thanks for the kind words.
  22. ...since I keep my profile so general and vague, I didn't put down precise area nor birthday. But today is it! My new boss (who merged in his practice into our firm) who is the ultimate moron, complete with personalized license plates proclaiming he is an architect (though incredibly mediocre), is not here today so "while the cat's away, the mice play"...I'll shut my door and work on some crap due for my night classes imminently... Famous people born today: Ted Nugent, Dick Van Dyke, Christopher Plummer and Mary Todd Lincoln.
