  1. I have very little compassion toward animals that can bite me or have me for lunch. In fact, living out West, one has to be careful not to run into rattlesnakes as you walk over boulders or around wood piles....and these critters are reputedly nonconfrontational. So, my tactic is to stay the f*** away from any dangerous creature. Period.
  2. Congratulations....Stars fell on Alabama and I'm hoping stars will fall on Heather Anna too....best of luck with everything! Keep us updated.

  7. I don't know. My 1992 had some nice stand-alone options that I preferred to get by themselves. Now, I would like to get the leather wrapped wheel W/O the audio controls or the telescoping wheel W/O the other stuff. But I can't. Still, LaX offers the wheels and the fold down rear seat as stand-alones.
  8. Bizarre. I was driving back down from Vancouver yesterday listening to the radio and at first, I thought I had wax in my ears. I thought the barbs were small. Some can get big. Evidently, this creature swung its tail and this lodged a barb into his heart. If it had been elsewhere, he would have been alive to tell about it. Still, he has been playing with fire for many years. Not to sound too philosophical, we've all heard "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword." This guy had an extremely hazardous line of work and I always wondered when I would read of something along these lines. Well, it happened. It's just that I expected it to be on land and with something carnivorous in nature.

  10. I've had my bouts with it. I can think of a few times when it's been quite debilitating. People need to get help and not sweep it under the rug. Most cases are mild and/or transient. Others can be downright horrendous from what I have seen/heard. It can also be endogenous or exogenous. The first means it's in your DNA and you have a predisposition to it. The second term means external stimuli bring it on. I once read that "lack of parental empathy" is one of the primary causes of depression in youngsters and teenagers. I would have to agree with that.
  11. Great! This is good news. Still: IT'S NOT A REASON TO WASTE IT!!! I've been to a lot of seminars on "green" buildings right now. Just because resources are here doesn't mean we shouldn't think about future generations. We need to be moving to other energy sources, particularly in our automobiles. I'll buy another 3800 equipped vehicle, or some facsimile thereof, but, after that, I want an alternative vehicle (hybrid, etc). We need to deal OPEC the hand they've been deserving all along!

  13. Did it sputter up the Grapevine? LOL.I saw something worth contributing. On Labor Day morning, I was driving from Vancouver to Portland to get my bags at Mom's and catch my flight. I saw an impeccably maintained 1975 Grand Ville convertible with the top down (no rain). I could spot that neat grille. It was black. It was going the other way or I would have fumbled for my digital. Then, it occurred to me: I saw the Grand Ville on Granville! Captnbooyah, where are you? This is one of the main north-south thoroughfares in Vancouver BC.

  16. I'm sorry, she's a trampy bitch. I can't believe people make her rich --- you can choose not to patronize her. But, most people are stupid. For those who think she's hot, would you bring her home to meet your parents or have her bear your children? I seriously doubt it.
  17. It's the last weekend of summer. I'm sort of looking forward to cooler weather...but not too cool. What are you folks doing? I get on a plane tonight and fly up to Mom's (that's PDX). Since I will inevitably get in a fight with her (she's a supreme pain), I will take the rental sled up to Vancouver BC for a few days and come back down just in time to catch my flight. This will be my first flight with the new "bans" in place. Unbelievable...no toothpaste, suntan lotion, deodorant or any of that stuff in the cabin. I wonder what check-in and the security line will be like. Everybody, have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day and report back.

  19. We all hit those "lucky" spells where work seems to rain on us...and money...but they always come and go. You can't keep it up. Don't even kid yourself. Heck, even in my 20s, if I worked beaucoup hours and hit any type of caffeine, I would eventually get the shakes and start making mistakes. Then I would need a major sleep cycle to get back on track. Since I've been on this job, I think I hit 58 and 62 hours per week WITHOUT overtime... since I'm salaried. Now, we are so short on people, we get our straight time salary once we go 10% over the base # of hours in a pay period. So, if the pay period is 80 hours and we work at least 88 hours, then we get straight time for anything above 80 hours. Not bad. What is your ethnic background that gives you this work ethic? I mean, I know you live in Jersey.

  21. Your 2 cents worth, ZH, is about $20,000 + worth, in my mind. Why does she even have your number? There is NO enforceability here. You are in Canada. Condoms don't break....the stats are VERY low. It's probably someone else's, if it even exists at all. Go down to Spadina and learn how to say "F*** you" in Chinese so when they call to tell you "it's yours," you can recite what you just learned.
