  1. I KNEW SOME PERVERT WOULD GO THERE WITH MY LAST POST....Frank!!!My response: dream on
  2. Thank you, Flybry. Great job and great photos....and great Florida backdrops!!! Like the front end and like the rear end. The side is a bit bulbous for my taste. That could have been diminished by lowering the greenhouse beltline, IMO. The interior looks functional and comfortable. LOVE the in-dash ignition....just had a GP rental last weekend, and that is a feature I thoroughly believe in. When viewed with open rear doors, the seats look somewhat Malibu-esque. At least they look nicely finished and bolstered. The articulation of the dash outside of the simple bezels is a little weird, I agree. I'd like to see how the 3.5 propels this car. I believe it pumps out 224 ponies in this rendition. Question: is this EPS - electric power steering or hydraulic belt-driven? I don't know if I could go for one. There's an austerity to it that doesn't suit me but I respect the achievement and wish it fetches many unit sales for our beloved GM.

  4. THANK YOU for all this good info, Harley. I love the Pontiac line. Sometimes a bit overstyled, but always distinctive. So much so that the twin-grille treatment has successfully remained a signature for PMD. There's so much to love that, as I look at the history of the brand, it's amazing how anyone would choose a totally vapid foreign car.

  6. LOL Yeah, considering the following: Cutlass "1": 350 cu in 4 bbl Rocket V8 = 170 hp Cutlass "2": 3.8 litre 2 bbl V6 = 110 hp Regal: 3800 FI Series I V6 = 170 hp

  9. Ser gut... Or, because it's a Grand Le Mans: C'est bonne C'est tres bonne Seriously, I LOVE that car. Looking on E-Bay and can't find one. How do I go about digging one up to keep as a second car?
  10. Sir, I agree with this observation. They are a sensibly packaged car for the $ and I like the overall personal luxury coupe concept ... which is all I've actually ever owned: 2 Cutlass Supremes and 1 Regal. The biggest pitch for me is how comfortable it is in terms of seating, dash layout and the nice big door/glass...in this regard, it's better than the GP or LaX, having driven all of them for good stretches. The only thing I'm hesitant about is the 3.5 VVT. You know how conservative I am. I am contacting Borg Warner to get information on the set up since they manufacture the variable cam timing system. I have to be able to understand it graphically / diagramatically, not just in words. I've been canvassing the web and can't get the level of info I want on this system.

  12. AGREED: MISHMASH. Except for a few nice touches here and there, Flybry speaks the truth.

  15. OK, so you essentially imply that the LaCrosse will stay around for 2008 and possibly 2009. LaCrosse Super wouldn't be built without a base LaCrosse or without the Allure. And if the name goes away, or becomes all-Allure or the Allure goes onto a new platform, then BFD. Please clarify the LaCrosse existence for 2008 and 2009.
  16. my response: Atlanta (they have them down there...I think they are called Chick-fil-a or Chik-fil-a...either way, "grease central")
  17. LOL to moniker. Yes, all they had to do was curve the deck lid upward to pick up the eye-level lamp, as on the last Deville touring sedan and they could have pocketed some $ from not having to do a spoiler, except on the NASCAR duded-up models (no thanks). I was going to get around to doing a fix the MC sketch one of these days.
  18. EXACTLY. That's the kind of freshening LaX needs (though less gaudy for the base models)...and a few others Yeah, this whole thing is weird...no announcement...and a BIG GAPING HOLE at the entry level to the Buick marque...this doesn't make sense.

  20. I had to hang with an Impala for a day until I got switched into a Monte Carlo. This was a 3.5 and en route to the Palm Springs area, I spotted a Bob's Big Boy in Calimesa off I-10 (SCREEEECH). Actually, I stopped to eat (YUUUUUMMMMM) and take the photo on the way back. Chevrolet Monte Carlo 3.5 at Bob's Big Boy, Calimesa, CA Then, upon returning it, I spotted this Monte Carlo LT 3.9 at the Burbank airport. If I were to opt for the MC, this is virtually identical to how I would order it. This particular vantage point is attractive...a couple of angles on this car can be clumsy. YOU LIKE? I know KnightFan does. I know Pantho does not.

  22. Yesterday, I was cleaning around the engine bay with a rag, an old toothbrush and some cleaning fluids for this purpose. When I had my very first Cutlass (carburetor, no electronics), I would go to those wash places and steam clean the engine on a self-serve basis. Not any more. I am willing to employ elbow grease. BTW, are there are benefits to a clean engine other than the way it looks (which can be very nice)?
  23. Please do...I take it we will be seeing samples of their work.
  24. Middle Easterners (they need it, especially the hairy ones... )
  25. Good observation. GM was almost wasteful a couple of decades ago in this regard and now they are spartan. Look at GPs in last 2 gens that have seen virtually ZERO changes from year to year. I think minor freshenings are due periodically.
