I know very few UPTIGHT Catholics, thank God! Most of them are pretty laid back. Also, your brand of Catholicism is also determined by where it hails from. There are definitely no uptight Italian and Spanish Catholics that I know of. I would say that some of the more right wing views toward morality come from certain Protestant sects while some are very liberal. Look at the Anglicans/Episcopalians --- liberal.

I don't like recent Boz Scaggs stuff. The voice isn't as slick and velvety as it was when he was in his prime and the instrumental parts are weaker. He now shows up at Konocti Harbor on Clear Lake CA, at Caesars Tahoe and at the Nugget in Reno. I doubt if he fills up the place, but I would go. Is that what he is, R&B? I would have thought just basic pop.

Someone who has identified one of my biggest pet peeves. You can pay with the CC, write ONE check later and collect frequent flyer points in the process. Chipotle is eh. I think it's better than the other chain Mex restaurants (El Torito, Chevy's, On the Border). Every time I go to those places, the rest of the day is a "throw away." If I'm looking for that $7 to $10 meal, I head straight to Daphne's, UHM UHM, though anyone outside CA/AZ/NV wouldn't know what it is? My college friend in San Diego laughs his ass off...he says I am addicted to Bob's Big Boy and Daphne's and that those must be my concept of fine dining.

However, I almost prefer the seating config on the 67 since it makes it easy to move around. Actually, if you go on a 767-400 (very few ordered - only Delta and Continental), they have the 67's config with the amenities of the Triple 7.

Man, KnightFan, Razor and 76ChevTruck are really into their music and remember it all. I went through an awareness period in my teens and then faded out of an interest in music. However, those that made an impression were largely disco/dance music (ok, shoot me now) with: Donna Summer "MacArthur Park" (long version with the extended instrumental) Laura Branigan "Gloria" (also mentioned by L.A.) - "will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon, feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's coming back soon" These ladies belt out this incredibly raw energy and it's good $h! to drive to when I hear it nowadays. By the way, Laura Branigan died last year from an aneurysm at age 47 in her Long Island home. Also, really like(d) the unmistakable interesting and somewhat peculiar voice of Boz Scaggs with stuff like "Lido Shuffle" and "It's Over" Then really like(d) Tina Turner for many of the same reasons, an unmistakable raunchy and sensual voice, best exemplified in the title cuts to "Private Dancer" and "Break Every Rule" Nowadays, I listen almost exclusively to jazz. Actually, there is a similarity in that jazz and disco both rely heavily on the instrumental portion to carry the piece. There were a lot of people in L.A. who despised disco. In fact, some made stencils of the word "DISCO" and plunked it on stop signs, so as to say "STOP DISCO."

I love this stuff. I could definitely get in on a prank like that as long as it didn't jeopardize my job. No, I can't top that story. The only thing that's exciting in my world right now is sparring with a semi-butch lesbian chick who is sort of an "intern" (not done with school) who works under me (no, not that way) and is mouthy on an ongoing basis. I have a good friend who is of the "Crimson Tide" variety. He's from Birmingham and living out West now. He told me he hated Yankees growing up and that, at another point in his life, he and I would not be friends. Now, c'mon, are Californians "Yankees?" They were panning for gold amidst rattlesnakes when the Civil War was brewing. I love any accent...including the Southern one. I lived in Atlanta for 2 years between college and grad school. Dr. Laura's (douche bag) best calls come from Southern women who want to consult with her for a "morality check." I'm busting a gut in the process.

To afford it, it's simple furniture, keeping a car a long time, shopping at outlets and sales, clipping coupons and not buying the latest electronics.

True to point #1. Could you imagine what a stellar city Los Angeles would be if the CBD skyscrapers were at the water's edge (say Long Beach or San Pedro) and the city fanned out from there, which semi-circular beltways radiating outward. I love that the architecture is irreverent. The Brown Derby is a brown derby. The Beverly Hills Hotel is pink. And the Cinerama Dome, with its hexagonal "snowflake" skin. What a cool place to go to the movies. Except for some impossibly big-headed BPs, most people are pretty laid-back and accepting. Everyone is from somewhere else. I am a native and never felt like I belonged and some transplant didn't. Heck, my parents were from another country, let alone another state. The accepting atmosphere and the good weather lets people be themselves -- so many of my friends, and even their parents (whether from NYC or Cuba or Germany) with their accents and attitudes were hysterically funny. I've never found that outside of California. And, I'm sorry, the counterpoint would be Seattle, where the locals cast a disapproving glance at us "Californicators" for which I have a list of such experiences as long as my arm.

I generally don't like both materials together. (I know, I'm a jerk). But I have seen it. In fact, I've seen it in the Midwest and in the East. In Indiana, one actually sees more "all limestone" and more "all brick." Done right, those could look killer. Either way, I'm sure you'll get yourself a nice house.
