  1. Thanks...I just checked it out. After only a few minutes of reading the posts though, it appears the site is already pratically dead and they continue to suggest going to Acadiaforum.net instead. The Acadiaforum.net boards had much more information and sections as well. Not a bad site, but I'd rather just have to manage reading posts at one location rather than both.
  2. In case it hasn't been mentioned it before, last night I found a new forum exclusively for the new GM Lambdas. It is centered around the Acadia, but there are sections for the Outlook and Enclave as well. The web link is here--Acadia Forums. I registered myself last night under the screen name imgntht. If anyone else is a current/soon to be owner, or just wants more info on them, this looks like a nice informative place.
  3. How does this affect the assembly lines and keeping up with demand? I just put in my order for an Acadia last Tuesday and was told 6 weeks to delivery. Is this going to put me out even further?
  4. I got tired of the trade deals, so I just ordered one spec'd out to my needs and will expect to get it in about 6-8 weeks. Far less hassle and they are locking in my trade value so I don't have to worry about it dropping some with the additional miles it will rack up until the Acadia arrives. Plus I might have an opportunity to see an even lower finance rate at that time. Currently I was going to get 5.9% for 60 months, which really isn't bad. I see the 0% has been extended to 2/28, where is used to end on 2/20, however it is still for only a 36 month term. I'll check out the GM site you mentioned above, just for fun. But I received the GM Employee price which I would hope is far better still than the internet pricing. Have fun with your Acadia, I'll be anxiously awaiting delivery of mine.
  5. Its $500 for the Presidents day(ends 2/20), but also the potential to lose another $750 from a Family First brochure I received in the mail(ends 2/28). Then there is the question of whether or not they will come back lower on my trade in the future. I got a verbal guarantee that the value would be good 1 week or 2 into March, but... BTW Presidents Day also was offering 0% financing albeit for only 36 months.
  6. I don't necessarily agree with your scenario here. I worked in retail, and today work for a wholesaler coop-op where the customers are my 5000 retail locations. As much as I dislike bearing the trash-talking from an irrate customer, they are the ones I will bend over backward for, because I want to prove them wrong and change their opinion of me/our business. I want to make them the happiest, because I am hoping to turn them around and be a future customer based on how happy they leave the situation. Times when you have the biggest a-hole in your face and then they leave thanking you or saying their sorry are the biggest achievements in business IMO. The ones that kiss my ass already, well...I take care of them, but I've obviously already won over their business and heart, provided I don't do anything stupid, they'll be coming back without me doing anything special. They had no problem giving me my deposit back, but they held it over my head that if I accept to take it they would put a stop to helping locate a vehicle. I was never once told that it is policy to require a deposit before they try to find me a car?? And as far as the incentives go, this dealership and another in the area both said that neither would honor any incentives after Feb 28th citing how could you honor something "that doesn't exist?"
  7. Well I guess I got excited too soon. The deal fell thru on my new Acadia...at least for now. The dealership in WI that had my vehicle sold it a day and a half AFTER my wife signed some of the papers and put $1000 down. I called my dealer today excited to hear good news on when it was to arrive for my pickup and much to my disappointment they told me the bad news. Supposedly the other dealership had an interested party when my dealer called to try and make a trade. The WI dealer didn't want to let it go unless their customer backed out. Unfortunately for me they decided to purchase and I'm out a new car. I was steaming when they told me and made a personal visit to my salesman and general manager to express my disgust. I told them I wanted my deposit back, but then they said they would stop looking for me. They also told me that if they don't find one before the end of the month, I would lose any and all incentives that expire on Feb 28th. I even went online thru GMC's site and located 4 others myself...3 had sold and the last one never called my salesman back(apparently they don't want to trade either). On monday my salesman is going to try the 4th one again. But my wife and I decided that if that falls thru, we are just going to order one and wait the 6 weeks to get it. We'd lose about $1250 in cash incentives, but at least it will be exactly what we want and we don't have to hassle anymore. What a terrible experience this has been.
  8. Another reason I chose the Carbon Metallic...mirrors and body molding blend in much better, and yet chrome details pop out at you like they should.
  9. I'd prefer not to say, not that it is bad, but I just feel certain financial information is personal. I can say I was able to get the following discounts...GM Employee discount(my father in-law), GM credit card bonus earnings, $750 bonus earnings from mailed brochure, and $500 bonus earnings as part of the President's Day sale, on top of my trade value. BTW Caddycruiser...your right about the imports, I am trading in a Mitsubishi Galant to move into a bigger vehicle for the family.
  10. Well it happened really fast, but I will soon be the new owner of the Carbon Metallic Acadia SLE AWD with Titanium cloth. I went to the Chicago Auto show and saw the car for the first time in person, took one for a drive two days ago and will soon have one in my driveway. Very impressed by how the car not only looks but also how it drives. I defintely can concur with many others in past posts how nice this vehicle is. Definitely will be a sales hit! At first we had a little problem getting it down to the payments I wanted, and a fair value for my trade, but it all worked out in the end. We moved quick on it because there were alot of extra incentives that ended on Feb 28th and you must take delivery of the vehicle before then to take advantage of them. Since all the dealerships around here only have 2-3 a piece, finding one in the correct color and all the features we wanted was a bit tough. So we signed some papers today and the dealership will be calling in a few days when the vehicle arrives from Kenosha, WI(I'm in Chicago, IL). Hope to see it by the weekend, more probably more realistic to think Monday or Tuesday. Either way I am very excited!
  11. Actually I am a huge fan of the deep red metallics. There's just 2 problems...1) my current car, a 2002 Galant GTZ is a dark red(Patriot Red Pearl to be exact), and I'm looking to switch it out to something new. 2)There is an additional cost for the Red Jewel Tintcoat and the White Diamond Tricoat as they are considered "premium" paints. I do find it very attractive though and would have seriously considered it had I not wanted something different.
  12. Yeah I do still like the blue when the sun hits it...your right it does pop more then. But if its going to look that dark most of the time, I might as well go to the Carbon Metallic. That was at the Chicago Autoshow and it looked great. I've been staring at their website and have done some online searches to see the colors. I think I'm torn between the blue, carbon metallic and Liquid Silver. I'm worried about the blue and black showing scratches and swirl marks over time, but Silver is just so darn common. I think I have to give up on the brown, my wife hates it on the Silverado picture I found and I'm questioning if I could live with it for the next 5 years.
  13. Thanks that does help. I have seen the blue now that you have directed my thoughts onto other GM cars. Seen the Lucerne and Aura in those colors. I was really looking forward to a blue vehicle next, but that seems a bit too dark for me. Would rather see a slightly more vibrant blue with more metallic and more distinguishable(sp?) as a blue and not black, especially at night. I'll have to see it in person I suppose to really see how it looks in the different light on the actual vehicle. Saw the Yukon at the Autoshow in the blue-green crystal color. That would have been a nice option... Looked up the Blue-Gold and its really nothing special. Looks too dingy gray and makes the car look almost dirty. The brown seems to be hard to come by. Was able to locate it on the Silverado thru Diamondlot. On the truck it was just okay...again would really need to see it on the Acadia and even more so in person. I thought it would be close to the Enclave Cocoa color we have seen but perhaps darker still.
  14. That is correct...I thought my wife was nuts paying this much for my christmas gift(we usually try to budget much less for each other and save the big money for my son). Then I was doing some browsing on the web and saw the NAIAS charity event going for $400 a ticket and couldn't believe the deal we got. Funny how perception works like that! Almost like gas prices...we scoffed at $2.60 a gallon, but when it came down to $2.30 it was a steal. Even though we once scoffed at that price too in the days of paying $1.50 a gallon.
  15. Looking for more real world pictures of the Acadia in the various colors. Hard to tell from GMC website and online searches from my local dealerships aren't coming up with many results, and if they do they only have a file photo in the Red Tintcoat. Curious on the Blue, Blue-Gold Crystal and Brown...
  16. Thanks for the input Vince. Sounds like you and I are very alike in our tastes. I'm really gearing up to test drive this one now.
  17. Nice write up and glad to hear you liked our city and venue. Come back anytime!
  18. Spent loads of time with the Acadia last night at the Chicago Auto Show and I am very impressed. So much so that i am planning on going for a test drive soon and then an eventual purchase if that turns out well. For those that have had the chance, does it drive like a truck/SUV, or does it really feel like a car? I've never owned an SUV and don't care for my wife's Envoy. Worlds different from my little cars... Also the one other major thing preventing me from purchasing would be the financing. In my area they are only offering 4.9% for 36 months. For a full 5-6 year finance loan it jumps to 7 or 7.9%. This could be the real deal breaker for me. Wish I knew when the 0% was coming for this model. But after Feb 28th I lose an additional $750 in Bonus Earnings...decisions, decisions!
  19. Spent last night at the Chicago First Look to Charity event and it was a blast. I should have eaten more food and drank more, but so hard to do when you really just want to sit in all the cars and take advantage of not having to wait in a line to get in them. GM's offering was very nice, and I am extremely impressed with the Acadia! I went into the show with the idea in my head that I was going to narrow down my search to about 3-5 'CARS' then test drive for a purchase in the next few months. My initial list consisted of all cars and wagons. I left the show scratching my head and hard pressed to find anything else that could beat the Acadia for the cost and what it offers for a family hauler. I'll go for test drives in the coming weeks to make a final decision. Couple other notables...G8 looks just as good in person as the pictures we've seen here. Outlook was also nice on the outside, but the interior was drab in comparison to the Acadia. G6 GXP and Vue Redline are still long in the tooth, the Redline being worse. Plus the Vue now looks ALOT smaller than before?!? New Malibu looks good, but after sitting in an Aura I question how roomy it really is going to be. Aura did not have much reat seat room in my opinion (I'm 5'11", and like to stretch out while allowing someone of equal size to sit behind me). Not going to happen in an Aura. I was also disappointed by the VERY small trunk opening on the Aura...Pathetic! Good luck if you have a stroller or golf bag! I did not see the Hummer H4 anywhere...however 2 of the 11 Sema Lucernes were on display--the Purple one from SS brakes and the orange and black two-tone. Only saw a few local celebs from NBC 5. Alison Rosati, Warner Saunders, Brant Miller were all within 5 feet of me waiting for the ceremonies to begin. Shaun Robinson of Access Hollywood Weekend Edition Fame was also on hand to help announce the winners of the 3 car give-aways. I didn't win any... There was another couple of NBC guys there, but their names elude me right now. Jesse White also was in attendance during the car give-away ceremony. In total the event managed to acquire a little over 2.8 Million dollars to go to the 19 charities. A great reason to spend the $200 a ticket. I took some pictures, but nothing really that we haven't all seen before here on the web. Same cars, same colors... I would definitley go to this event again in the future...although I don't think I'll get the tickets as a Christmas gift again.
  20. Yeah so we bitch, we just want cars to sell so GM is profitable. So while we're at it, I'm going to bitch about your post...learn how to spell or get a dictionary! God that post was horrendous!
  21. This comment is not meant to bash what I know nothing about yet, but more of a wish list. It would be kinda nice if something with the word "Super" in it, was actually Supercharged! Limited Production model with the supercharged Northstar engine along with a new 6-speed in a Lucerne. Then add your subtle extra aesthetic touches to signify the car being something above and beyond (ala 300C SRT8) and that would be a Lucerne Super to be proud off.
  22. I agree, but would add a fourth element to your argument. Quality control and correcting the perception that most americans have...that Saabs are unreliable and always in the shop. Honestly I have heard waaayyy too many horror stories that it does discourage me from considering a Saab from purchase. It may not even be true, but consumers buy so much thru word of mouth, and if this is the message that is out there, you can bet it translates to low sales. In fact I bet there is a high percentage of current Saab owners that were previous Saab owners. Which may sound backwards given my last comment, but I think only the Saab loyalists continue to buy them. Most potential new Saab owners are probably scared off and driven into the competitors showrooms.
  23. Here's a thought...Saab will not survive, nor should it, as a rebadge of any other current GM brand. Stop the insanity!!! Saab needs to be truly unique vehicles (note: they can share the same platforms as other GM brands, but must be styling extraodinaires). Think Enclave versus Acadia/Outlook...same platform, vastly different styling. This is no rebadge, its re-engineered. Aside the from the 9-2 and 9-7, Saab already is what I am describing. BUT there is no excitement, no cutting edge design, and recently it has been stealing from the GM parts bin to help dumb it down some more. I just can't get my arms around what the US market looks like for this kind of car(see my post above).
  24. I like the 9-3 Sportcombi alot, but it would be much more appealing had it been on the longer chassis that is under the G6 and Aura. Its just too cramped inside and when I start to look at what I get for the money, the 9-3 starts to make less sense. However I would not suggest killing the brand. But more importantly if GM retains Saab, they must create unique cars for the brand and not base them off something existing. The 9-2x was ridiculous. I laughed my butt off anytime I saw one on the road, because I knew it was essentially a rebadged Subie. I thought to myself what fool would pay the extra money for a Saab badge and a few other small saab-esque touches? The 9-7x is another example. While I agree it was the best looking of the Envoy/Trailblazer/Rainer cousins, I couldn't see how anyone could justify the need to spend so much money for what it offered. Actually the more I write, I begin to wonder...Who is Saab's target market and who are their main competitors? I would say clearly not the entry level japanese makes, so maybe Volvo only? Volkswagen? And if Saturn is now going after the entry luxury European arena and Cadillac becoming a more independent brand competing against other luxury makes, does that push Saab out? Is there too much product overlap for Saab to remain under the GM umbrella and still justify the low sales volume? My final question to the group is this...Where should Saab position itself in the future?
  25. Don't think it will be Chicago. Just got this off the Chicago Auto Show website... "After 4-years on the market, the Pontiac Vibe carries forward the styling updates and other enhancements from last year’s model into the streamlined 2007 edition. The ’07 Vibe has the following new features and changes: Wave Blue is added to the list of exterior color choices, a rear cargo cover is now available, and Premium Monotone Package includes painted front and rear fascia extensions, side rocker extensions and two spoilers (roof and mid-gate mounted). An integrated roof rack adds to the distinctive wedge appearance and enhances Vibe’s form and function. Vibe is equipped with a dual-overhead cam 1.8-liter I-4 engine producing 126 horsepower. The engine uses variable valve timing to optimize fuel economy and performance, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual shifter or available 4-speed automatic. Vibe comfortably seats 5-people, and offers 54.1 cubic feet of cargo room when 2nd-row seating is folded flat. The all-wheel drive and GT models have been eliminated for ’07."
