  1. Nope...happened to me about an hour ago. I had to login to see the current Buick forum. Once I logged in, there it was.
  2. So you wanna be my new buddy? You know...let me know when the best deal comes around for a Lucerne CXL V8 for a finance?
  3. I was wondering if the 0% financing is a cyclical thing, where it happens at the same time(s) of year every year? I think I recall seeing lots of commercials for this around the 4th of July and Labor Day last year. I also just got a notice in the mail that I can get another $750 bonus earnings to be used alongside my GM extended family card earnings. By the sounds of the brochure they sent, I can use all of this in addition to special financing rates. But the offer ends on Feb 28th. Currently Buick is only offering 4.9% or cash back. I would much rather have the 0.0% financing. Does anyone know if there are specific times of year they offer this? Looking to purchase in the next 6 months, and Lucerne is on the top of the list.
  4. I'm sorry I am not familiar with those acronyms, where can I find data on them? FlyBrian: Were you referring to Empowah's post above with your comment about these companies having their own agendas? I think I understood that correctly. And I don't quite get ShadowDog's stance on this. Safety is not my highest priority, but it sure is up there when I am considering a new car purchase. Apparently you don't value your life or those close to you enough to think you should at least have the due diligence to educate yourself on the ratings of vehicles. The most important things in my life are my loved ones, so YES I do have better things(such as my family) to spend my time on. But if I'm injured or worse in a car accident that could have been avoided by having a safer car, that what good are all those other things?
  5. Yep, My '97 Eclipse rattle too, but it is an inherent problem, if you don't have something supporting the glass at the top it si bound to move and cause a noise. Back to the Suby though, I think they are underrated as well. Rather unexciting to look at, but for what they offer for the price its not a bad deal. Glad to see more V6's too. The Boxer engine is proven and stout, but I have a bit of a stigma with purchasing a 4-cyl ever again...although the Turbo helps and keep the HP competitive.
  6. The Red is the most "blend in with the rest of the world" color, but you have to applaud them for going for the gusto with the wild colors. I think they look cool in just about all of them, but there is no way I could live with it every day for...say a 5-year finance plan. I like attention when it comes to my cars, but this is a bit much. Its less, 'Hey look at my cool car' and more 'Hey look at me 'cuz I'm an extreme loser and desperately need attention to feel good about myself'.
  7. This was a very thorough and interesting post. Thanks for taking the time to write it up and provide your insight.
  8. Did they have one out for spectators to sit in, or were they only on the displays? Going to the Chicago show and was hoping to sit in one to get a feel for the size. Pictures seem to make the rear side window look chopped off and I'm concerned what sort of room we got back there.
  9. So then what are consumers supposed to base their buying decisions on from a crash-worthiness standpoint?
  10. Your the kind of person that deserves to be escorted out. Complete lack of respect for the cars or anything else. Its people like you that ruin good things for everyone else. Like why manufacturers have to remove dials from stereo and/or HVAC controls so losers like you don't take them for a quick laugh with your buddies.
  11. I don't know...the more I look at it, the more I am starting to NOT like it. The weird body crease on the corner of the front bumper just below the headlight, the flat boring side profile, and the way the grill area protrudes ever-so-slightly but enough to make me think Camry. I also HATE this color. So blah and unexciting. Couldn't GM pick another color to parade at the Auto shows, haven't we seen enough of it with the Aura? It doesn't do the car any justice if you ask me. At least the red metallic has more 'POP' and class. Come to think of it now, GM really made the LT look more upscale and expensive than the upper grade LTZ just because of the color they showed each in. Plus I really don't care for the aftermarket looking chrome grill inserts on the LTZ. Am I the only one who thinks they got this part of the marketing backwards? In fact I think I am odd-man out here, as I actually think the best view of the car is the rear-3/4 shot. Specifically I think the only thing I am really liking on this car is from the C-pillar back at this angle. Probably because the tails and rear are looking like a Passat to me and I like the Passat. The interior materials do seem far better than in past vehicles, but I'm still not convinced that there is enough rear seat leg room for my tastes. Guess I'll find out more for myself when I attend the Chicago Auto show in about a month.
  12. I was hoping for more...Its a nice morph from the last one, but I have minor gripes. On the exterior, I don't care for the skinny taillights, nor the way the c-piller chops out the rear window so dramatically. Looks like the 4-door was an afterthought. For me I'd really have to see it in person more to say much more for the outside, perhaps it's not as bad as I originally think and I'll warm up to it more. Heck I wasn't liking the grill and front bumper at first, but after about 20 minutes looking at the pics, its growing on me. Seeing it in silver definitely helped, the red doesn't do the car justice. Interior-wise, I like the console shape and design. The middle vents are pretty cool shaped and positioned as they are. The hand stitching is a nice touch, but I'm sure we'll pay dearly for the "hand craftsmanship" of this. On the downside for me is the grain and appearance of the upper dash/top of door leather(the black in the pics). Its putting off a high sheen in some of those photos and making it look like plastic. I had to look closer and noticed the stitch details to know it was leather. Again perhaps seeing it in person would be different. I also dislike the cheap(almost aftermarket looking) door lock plungers on the top of the door. The silver trim should go away and be replaced by matching wood. And last but not least on the interior, why...oh...why did they put the medallion on the seat backs like that? It looks like a hard piece, can't imagine that to be comfortable on long drives...or any for that matter. That has to dig into your back to some degree.
  13. When is this rumored to be out in public...couldn't have been possible that we spotted an early version could it? She did say it was white(although all white, no zebra striping). I asked if she could tell what plates were on it, and she said they were dealer plates. A GMC dealer is less than 200 yards down the road from where it came, so could have been one of the first Acadia's out for a test drive.
  14. This is kinda nitpicky, but it should read "alteeza 'TAILLIGHTS' are heading to the Vue's rear." There is no such thing as an alteeza headlight... Back on topic though, unless that front airdam is going to house a massive FMIC to support the turbo or supercharger, then it is just too excessive and gaudy. I thought Saturn was heading towards more European class and not import tuner. I know RL is essentially an in-house GM tuner line, but it really looks cheap...However I digress, perhaps as with all these "spy photos" we should reserve final judgement for when we see the production version in the flesh.
  15. My wife currently has an Envoy and we were out and about last week, when she caught a big GMC grille coming around a turn and asked what it was. I missed it and had too much traffic behind us for me to see clearly. She knew enough that it was not another Envoy, but thought it was extremely small, claiming it to look like the size of an Equinox. I figured it to be an Acadia, but it doesn't make sense to me that she would think it was so small...Aren't these like the length of a Tahoe and nearly as tall too? Looked that way in the other post sitting next to an Escalade. There is no rumored GMC version of the Equinox/Torrent is there? Wouldn't make sense if P-B-G are one dealership entity going forward... Cool...I just noticed this was my 200th Post! Woohoo.
  16. I have a request from someone with photoshopping ability...I was staring at the picture of the front end head on(from the Press release post on the home page) and had a thought. Rather than eliminate the lower air dam on the front bumper, can someone just paint it to match the exterior color of the car? The design element itself is not bad, but perhaps having so much black in the front is what is throwing people off. As a second photoshop, I'd like to see what this same picture could look like with the upper and middle honeycomb grilles paint matched to the color of the car, and leave the lowest air dam black (kinda mimicing the rear end with lower black valance). Thanks in advance.
  17. Did anyone else notice in the article that you could get an LTZ with a 4-cyl? Maybe I haven't paid enough attention to older Bu's, but is this typical? Also I did not see it mentioned, but does anyone know if this offers a full folding rear seat for additional storage space from the trunk, or is it just a pass-thru design? I've been leaning towards a Lucerne, but this really has me heading to a Chevy dealership in the future. I'll save money and have nicer features and better mileage. The only deal breaker would be the drive and how soon I can purchase. 7-11 months is far too long for our timetable.
  18. You don't have kids do you? If it were just me in the mornings or after a long period of time having the car sit, I don't care. But it isn't fair for my 16 month old to have to endure such extreme cold/hot temps. I have a garage, but that doesn't stop old man winter from making it cold in there. Likewise for a HOT summer afternoon, a little A/C pumping thru the car before I step in would be nice.
  19. Both designs look very good. NOS's chop could easily be achieved by the dealerships or the resourceful owner. Simply mask off the area you want to remain red lenses and paint the rest with a spray can of PaintScratch brand paint. Or if you have the means you can shoot it more professionally with a paint gun. Either way it could come out looking nice. Hey they did it to the last gen Impalas... I actually painted the top portion of my taillights on my Galant to match them up with the body line of the trunk handle, as well as to make them look more aggressive and match my headlight eyebrows. After 5 years they still look excellent and no light comes thru them. Easy to do also!
  20. Same here. I used to be able log in one time and any day I came back to the site I was all set to reply to messages. Now each day I have to type my username and password if I want to reply or make a new topic.
  21. I'm still on the Ford bandwagon...although never thought Fairlane. I see teh other thoughts though, just also figured it was pictured placed in between a Ford Aerostar minivan and Land Rover in one of those pics! COuld be coincidence, but hey I am entitled to my opinion.
  22. I personally like the overall package. Loads better than the Aura in the front end, IMO. Better interior too...more class and design details to it. I was most interested in seeing the rear since up to this point we only had the hint of the front end. I was blown away at first glance, then after looking at it some more noticed the body line leading up from the lower rear bumper and over the decklid. Very Corvette like in approach as another poster mentioned, and urges me to call BS on all you people saying the taillights were an afterthought. The flow of the taillight shape is perfectly in sync with the body line. The additional trunk light may not be what all of you want, but look at the cars you have compared it to (Avalon, G35, Lucerne, Diamante). All of those are upscale luxury automobiles. Not a bad comparison to have spreading around the world. Also I disagree that people shopping this category(and especially current import owners) don't care about design. For the majority that may be the case, but there are folks out there that need a mid-size vehicle and still want it to have personality. I currently own a '02 Galant and have been extremely interested in GM vehicles such as the Aura, Impala, Lucerne, 9-3 Sportcombi, and now this. I've had my heart set on the Lucerne as of late, but this new entry wil definitely be on the "must see" list at the Chicago Auto Show. Which brings up my last point...I thought this vehicle, along with the '08 CTS(and something else I can't remember), were to debut at the Chicago Auto Show in Feb? These new press release pictures kinda undermine the "debut" part of that.
  23. It must be sporadic as it is now gone again...maybe the admins are working on something.
  24. Here is the list of charities that will benefit from the Chicago event in 2007: Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago Campagna Academy Cancer Health Alliance of Metropolitan Chicago Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet Children’s Memorial Hospital Clearbrook The Cradle Foundation Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Cure Autism Now Foundation Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities Illinois Spina Bifida Association Ronald McDonald House Charities Misericordia Heart of Mercy National Multiple Sclerosis Society St. Colleta’s of Illinois Foundation
  25. There is a tax deduction that she mentioned, but I don't recall what percent...too mesmerized by the tickets in my hand. Your quoted percents sound familiar though. This year there are 3 cars they will raffle off. A GMC Acadia (my wife's favorite), a Hyundai Azera, and a Volkswagen GTI. I hope I don't sound stupid here...I understand that a "black tie" event refers to tuxedo formal wear, however it was interesting to note in pictures from last year's event how many men literally wore black ties and not a color. Guess it does look less Prom date and more mature. It also appears most men wore simple tuxedos with NO vest, and the majority chose bowties vs. neckties. Did you find the same for the events you attended? I guess it comes down to personal preference, but I would like to feel like I belong there and not stick out too much. (Thinking about Dumb & Dumber right now!)
