  1. Best way to get what you really want is to buy a 2 or 3year old Lease return that is done up under the GM Certified Used cars program. That way avoid the depreciation hit and get a much more loaded auto. Yeah, I thought about that. Not a huge fan of buying used, especially a sports car unless I know the owner and how it was taken care of. But you're right, the depreciation hit and options for the value are huge. We'll see what happens when the time comes to purchase. These end of model year deals are pretty enticing...
  2. I'm excited about the Alpha as well, but unfortunately it won't be coming in time for me. I'm looking to purchase in the next 12-18 months. Regarding "holding the line" on price, I agree. I'm not even a young kid (34) but on a single income and a house/wife/2 kids to support, it ain't easy purchasing a $30K+ car these days. And I'm just looking at the 1LT, might even have to skip the $900 sunroof!
  3. You know what is sad and a bit crazy...I'm actually cross-shopping a Camaro 1LT with a Verano Turbo. Each has its pros and cons to make a case for a potential purchase for me. Pricing on the Verano T will be interesting for me, and some seat time in each will be huge.
  4. What would the GS offer over the upcoming T? A bigger turbo, or same powerplant and just revised front and rear fascias? Unless it came with more power, I'd struggle to see the value in paying an even higher premium for the same output. GS should mean something more than simple aesthetics. Now if they created a 2-door hatch with a 6-speed manual, and lighter weight. Perhaps that could be a GS model.
  5. I'm confused on what role the XTS plays in the lineup if this new flagship competes against the 7-Series/S-Class. With CTS growing to be a 5-Series/E-class competitior, I assumed the XTS was the natural next step up. Is the direct competition less german luxury then, and more Lincoln/Lexus?
  6. Subaru WRX Wagon. Fun to drive, AWD for winter, and room for the whole family and hauling stuff.
  7. At what point does the Volt and ELR become pointless? With mild hybrid vehicles getting the same or better mileage for less money, who is really going to buy these cars? Am I missing something?
  8. My vote is for the Raptor Competitor. Seems to make more sense to steal some of Ford's market share, and we've seen creations recently that show it can be done. GM could jump in with their own variant then too.
  9. Not sure the actually reason for my post, guess it was more to vent than to ask a question. I love the Supersonic Blue Metallic paint on the Corvette, but really wish they would offer it on the Camaro. Any insights if there are color changes for the upcoming 2013 Camaro? Anyone know if it would be possible to "special order" a new Camaro build with a factory color from another vehicle? I'd be willing to pay a bit extra. Prefer it from the factory as opposed to having it resprayed in a body shop down the road so they get all the jambs and engine bay correctly.
  10. Wonder if there will be any aftermarket support to pull even more potential from this engine down the road? Would make a nice sleeper of sorts.
  11. I'd love to see it looking more like the Gen 2 models--specifically a 70-1/2 or 71.
  12. Well there are many points here that have me excited...smaller (which hopefully translates to lighter), easier to see out of, TTV6, and DI engine. I like the current style, but the visibility is the main reason I am anxiously awaiting what is next. Timing kinda stinks because it means I'll need to hang on to my '07 Acadia about a year or two longer than I intended to. Good thing I put low miles on it, but unfortunately I get bored easily and lust for something more sporty.
  13. So with the article recently posted about the 2015 Mustang getting reworked, it got me thinking about what GM had in store for the next Camaro. I'm not expecting any big changes since it is still fairly fresh, just wondering if we have an insight on grille/taillight/headlight/etc revisions. You know mid cycle refreshes that still retain the majority of the cars's styling, but make mild enhancements/changes. Like the Mustang has over the years since it has been redone in the Retro style. I'll be in the market in about another 2 years and looking ahead to see what might be a possible purchase candidate. I like the exterior of the Camaro now, but visibility is concerning. I doubt GM would address that with a refresh, likley that would wait for a full redo around 2016 or so?
  14. Yeah, now that I understand the competition pricing, I don't know what I was thinking for figures. Does make more sense to be in the ranges you all have stated versus my delusional dreams. Oh well, guess I have to keep looking for my next ride elsewhere. Champagne dreams on a beer budget.
  15. I don't consider 30K to be low, but this is a Cadillac so I completely understand. Was hoping for a base around 26K, with an AWD starting around 29K-30K. I figured all gussied up it would top out around 34K-35K. This one might be a bit out of reach for me.
  16. When is GM going to release pricing details and a configurator for the ATS. Wasn't it due in showrooms this summer...seems they should be announcing something by now before the public forgets about it. We already got info on the XTS, although I don't recall the timing of those in showrooms in comparison. I'm anxiously awaiting to see if I can afford an ATS with AWD.
  17. Judging by the limited pictures I've seen, I like what the new Malibu looks like. Not crazy about the interior nor the lack of a V6. I could say the same for the Regal, although I don't find the exterior all that appealing on this one. So I would lean towards the Malibu.
  18. Completely agree with you there HyperV6. The cost could be a hurdle...I wanted to add that to my post yesterday, but missed it. The extra HP would more than offset the extra weight from AWD IMO. GM can do it with Cadillac and the V-series and an even loftier price of entry, why not give Buick a try? Ford also pulls it off with the Taurus SHO with a starting price of $38K for the 2011 model. I personally couldn't afford a $40K car at the moment, but will likley be more able in the coming years while I am still younger than the current average age of a Buick owner. That's all I'm saying...I could see professionals in their 40's/50's gobbling these up. Let's take some market share away from Acura/Lexs/Infiniti/...etc. Isn't this the market we're putting Buick up against? (at least I was ) Caddy can take on BMW/Audi/Mercedes. As for Turbo vs Supercharger, that is a long standing debate...and one I'm not inclined to get into. Choose your evil I say. I've owned a turbocharged car in the past, and loved it. That being said, I'd love a go at a Supercharger.
  19. So I've been thinking...Since the engine between the Buick LaCrosse V6 and the Camaro V6 are the same (LLT I believe), then wouldn't it be sweet to incorporate a supercharger into the LaCrosse's performance? Now before you going flaming me, I'm just thinking out loud here...packaging would likely need to change to ensure a fit within the engine bay, and the cost would be nothing to laugh at. But just think about it for a second... A supercharged 2012 Buick LaCrosse Currently 303 HP, could get well over 400 from a S/C application 4 doors for all your friends and a roomy trunk for the gear. AWD to keep you stable and give one hell of a launch control. A total sleeper, basically a 4-dr Camaro with AWD. Brings a new "cool" factor to the brand to help with lowering the entry age of a Buick owner AND perfectly compliments the Regal GS with it's turbo. The way I see it, the two cars (along with the smaller 2-dr compact if still happening...I've haven't been following much these days), could be marketed as an in-house tuner brand (like AMG, M-Series) or even farm it out to a tuning house along the lines of Lingenfelter, ABT, Etc... I've been wanting the LaCrosse since the day it was revealed...and I love customizing cars. This was my vision of what an awesome LaCrosse could be if I owned it (and had some extra money laying around)
  20. Is there by chance this listing for previous years? Like 2007-2010? And what makes up the difference in HP figures when comparing things like the LLT engine between the truck and car listings? It ranges from 280-313hp. Torque/RPM is the same thing. In theory would performance parts from one, be capable of use in the other? Or factory components switched out to help bump up performance? I'm thinking bolt on stuff like an intake (engine bay packaging taken into consideration), to internals like cams or lifters.
  21. Here are some pictures of my Acadia. I honestly have absolutely zero pictures of the wife's Traverse...never really thought about it before you all asked. I've added a 5-piece grill overlay set, 20" wheels, and tinted the reverse lights to blend with the body more. Not as apparent in the pictures, is the addition of a very fine chrome molding along the bottom of the doors where it meets the lower plastic cladding. I also have a Cherry Bomb muffler in place of the main big can, while leaving the rear two restrictors in place so it looks completely stock still. Nice moderate deeper growl at intial start up and idle. I've never heard it from outside the vehicle as it is driving, but from inside it kind of reminds me of an Infiniti. I had the opportunity to hear it at the shop without those rear restrictors in place, and it just bellows a low mean growl...too much for a family vehicle used for road trips, but it sure was awesome!
  22. Hi all, I'm not really a new member, but it has been a few years since I've been active on this forum. Thought I would use my first post back to reintroduce myself to the group. My name is Jason and I'm from the western suburbs of Chicago. My current vehicle is a Carbon Black Metallic 2007 GMC Acadia SLE AWD that I purchased new in March 2007 and currently has only 32,500 miles on it. I bolted up some Bazo Forged 20" wheels and tires and an aftermarket grill set to make it stand out from the crowd a bit. My wife also is a GM owner, purchasing a Quicksilver 2009 Traverse LT a little over 2 years ago. Since leaving this group, I've spent alot of time initially over at the Acadia Forums. I've kinda fallen off the wagon over there as well due to work and family balancing. But I like keeping up on the happenings at GM as we receive employee pricing through my wife's family and will very likely continue purchasing from one of the core brands. A Corvette is my main objective down the road, but currently the LaCrosse seems to be the next likely purchase...albeit a few years off still. I also keep up to date on all new car updates through Autoblog.com. So hello again and thanks for welcoming me back into the fold.
  23. I don't have mine yet, but you should head over to Acadiaforums for more info. There are a ton of people who already have theirs and I'm sure you'd get faster responses. I can tell you for sure there is no way you'll see the 34 mpg you get with the Impala, but if your lifestyle needs require a bigger vehicle this is something to think about.
  24. As a soon to be owner of an Acadia, my vote is to drop the word "Trucks". I'd consider this more of a car than a truck. Besides if your on this site, you probably already know GMC is a division of GM. No need for the "trucks" part.
  25. I think its the headlights that are off. They extend too far into the fender and are too large for such a small car. Are these straight from the BLS sedan...I haven't really looked at them. The height thing seems okay, do you think it is the roof rails giving the perception of being too tall?
