  1. I can't wait for the Swoose's restoration to be complete. It has the distinction of being the oldest surviving B-17 in the world and the only shark fin (pre B-17E) Fortress.
  2. Interesting. Someone on LHforums said they did this once with a Saab. They used a cap full of heavy duty floor cleaner and ran the car for 20 minutes and that got it out.
  3. Pontiac G8 To Live On As Chevy Caprice Not long after "unretiring", Bob Lutz told Automobile Magazine that the highly praised Pontiac G8 will live on as the Chevrolet Caprice. Enthusiasts are no doubt very pleased to hear that such an excellent car will live on. Full Story
  4. No I mean get it out of the cooling system. Although I'll keep that in mind for the outside.
  5. As you may know, my engine conversion went well besides the junk radiator nearly destroying everything. Managed to get the gunk out of the oil, it checks clear every time now. However it's still in the cooling system. The day it happened a garden hose was used for 2 hours to get it out, but while a lot it out, there's still goop showing up. Is there a cleaner to get this out? Or can a shop get it out? Monday I may just take it down and see, but preemptive advice would be appreciated. Once this is taken care of and I replace the plenum, I should be all set, but it just sucks that a $h!ty radiator caused this unnecessary mess. Next time I'm buying a brand new one.
  6. I've never had cheez wiz...is anything in the ingredients even dairy?
  7. Well at the moment I need a plenum. Hoping the on at Jack's isn't cracked. F*** Holland's.
  8. NEAM isn't the biggest museum in the world, but the make up for it by having a lot of one-of-a-kind or last remaining in existence planes. The b-17...when those things start up and run the sound is unmistakable.
  9. Ted, you have no idea how badly I wanted to destroy that POS. Complete waste of time and money. So my old radiator went in and the oil cooler lines were joined together and therefor bypassed. All the gunk seems to be out of the engine...oil checks nice and pretty. There's still some gunk floating up through the coolant res so for now it's just water and I have to flush it out until no more shows up, and then it'll get a 50% dose of the Chrysler high mileage antifreeze. Beyond that, the plenum has a crack (which he showed me before the engine went in) so I have to get a replacement Monday, and the a/c will need to be recharged...we'll see if it holds a charge now. After it cools off and I rinse the reservoir some more, I'm going to take it driving to see how things work, but so far, besides the air leak from the plenum , it runs good.
  10. Wow...awesome. Ran into an issue where Windows 7 won't run my old copy of Illustrator 10, so I decided to give Virtual XP a go. Problem solved.
  11. Back on topic...from what I've heard Chrysler and GM have/will cut under performing dealers that shouldn't be open in the first place. Even so, it doesn't make sense to have a down economy and auto market and such a huge glut of dealers. Even in good times, Toyota manages just fine with far less than what GM has.
  12. I like grilled and fried chicken myself. The one I go to asks if people want the sub toasted or not. I love my subs toasted...nothing like warm bread, meat and melted cheese contrasting with crisp, cold lettuce and sauce! I haven't had a tuna melt that I didn't make in a long time. I make mine. My favorite way to do it is use a skillet and warm up the cracked lemon pepper tuna fillets, provolone cheese, put it on Partisan bread and toast lightly.
  13. Yep, I can't remember the specific of the other one, but 44-85747 used an Allison T-56 turboprop. I liked that one the best
  14. +1 That's just cruel.
  15. Well the ones I've been to, they toast it after they microwave the meat...not sure about steak but they do it for chicken. Either way it's pre-cooked, and I've don't care for it. Tried the chicken/bacon/ranch once...it was ok but I'll stick with my turkey/provolone/lettuce/chipotle southwest.
  16. Yes, but the spoiler is part of the body work, not a bolt on. I agree with the G6 concept...great looking car, although the front end needs an update.
  17. I've been to 3 weddings. One for a cousin, whose wedding was very pretty but was like 3 hours with a fancy reception (and bad food), one for a family friend's whose was kinda long but at least they had Fudruckers cater, and on for another cousin whose lasted less than a half hour followed by a reception.
  18. Only ticket I ever got was a parking ticket at college (long story, but they really should clean the old parking lines off the lot if they don't want you and the guy who was parking the opposing spot before me not to park there). Beyond that, I've been pulled over 3 times..my first time was by two cruisers at 3am who just wanted to tell me my license plate light was out (they were nice guys, no warning or anything, they just wanted to let me know), once when we first got the Grand Marquis for the headlight being out (what do you want? the part was on order!) just a warning, and once for "speeding" but it was just a warning.
  19. I think MA uses a point system, but I don't know how long i lasts. I was in an accident 4 years ago and faulted for it, but nothing since (besides the truck that rear ended me, but he was faulted). I wonder this because C.A.P. nearby is hiring drivers, and I figure it would be a good way too add extra income since I have yet to find a proper full time design job (only my part time). Their sign says "Must have a Clean Licenses". So I was trying tofigure out how to determine if I can qualify or not. Would I talk to my insurance company to find out?
  20. Just curious what qualifies for that. Is it not clean if you were in an accident 4 years ago and faulted for it? Does it vary state by state?
  21. Subway is delicious if you stay away from the "hot" subs. Cold subs are g reat...love the breads too, especially the Honey Oat and the Italian Herbs and cheese. The hot subs are no good though. They just toss cold, pre cooked food in the microwave. For hot subs I love Quiznos.
  22. Liberty Belle huh? 44-85734 has a fascinating past. It never saw combat service, but was purchased by Pratt & Whitney to be used as a test bed for P&W T-34 and T-64 turboprop engines. They had to extensively modify the forward fuselage to mount the engine. It was donated to the New England Air Museum in CT, where I recently visited. It was badly damaged by a tornado which through another plane onto it's mid section and crushed it. Don Brooks purchased the plane an used parts of 44-85813 to restore it to its original B-17G wartime configuration. While its great that the plane was restored and flies on tour, it is a bit of a shame that the plane no longer is configured as it was for P&W. One of only three B-17s to ever become a 5th engien test bed and the only survivor as I recall. NEAM has a model on display of what the plane looked like with its 5the engine.
  23. Why was GMT162 canceled so far in its development cycle? Especially since small crossovers are all the rage. I like the design of this GMC much better than the Terrain's.
  24. This could have been salvageable. First and foremost, prototype's ass is way too saggy...it should have emulated that profile sketch more. Up front, the headlights should be a little bigger. The silvers look like they would be useless as headlights and they're too small to look like an important part of the design. The lower fascia should have better detailing...perhaps larger fog light housings set a deeper in the fascia and a little lower. Lower the ride height so it doesn't look like an Outback, and give it some less tacky wheels and it could have been promising.
