Hot August (2020) days or nights of car spotting
I don’t report modern stuff simply because it is everywhere (unless its only weeks old or extremely uncommon). This is neither; my son was upgraded to a Camaro at Enterprise. I strong-armed my way behind the wheel to gas it before returning. V6, 275 HP. Yes; it scoots!

1957 exercise for the '60 DeSoto. That body line / sculpting is just high art. Throw a '61 Chrysler 300-esque nose on, with canted headlights and a trapezoid grille, and I'm all over it like wallpaper cement :

Should GM Split into two Companies?
Little more than speculative hope of another ‘Tesla stock’ event.

Unbelievably hot. - - - - - Lordstown Endurance is priced $15 grand too high, and towing is about 2 tons short.- Random Thoughts Thread
It really is. I don’t care for small cars and I like this one. LTZ turbo hatch; a base sedan would obviously be less appealing.- Random Thoughts Thread

• Vacuumed/ washed the vinyl trunk mat. • Starting to amass info to do the carb rebuild. •Working on getting 4 steelie rims together for tires. Feelin' optimistic there. 2 are done, 3rd is primed & partially painted. • Following a 3rd lead on a replacement accel linkage piece- the ball stud the carb linkage hooks to snapped off mine.- Beautiful Cars Appreciation Thread

F I N A L L Y got the trunk spatter-painted. I bought the cans 2 years ago. Not exactly how I wanted it to look- GM's application comes out smoother and quite a bit less 'peppery', but this isn't a restoration, and I can't think that I will actually use the trunk, so it should be good. Have an extra can left for touch-up, but I think it's 95% as of today, maybe 100%. Another reasons how this isn't a restoration- I believe GM didn't start to spatter trunks (and different Divisions started in different years), until '62-63. For sure, P-62s are spattered, but Buick didn't start until '65. Buick in '59 shows zero metal in the trunk in factory form; between mats & cardboards, it's all covered. I don't have any of that stuff, and even if it were available repro (I think it is), my trunk's contours are different than stock. Future decision- to get a period trunk mat or not. I want to... down in that lower well at least. I love the period Herringbone in aqua- both my Pontiacs had/have that :- Random Thoughts Thread

I used to find these '62 Tempest / LeMans ugly. A buddy had a rough one, with a Chevy drivetrain, and it grew on me a bit. The one below is a fully-restored, 87K mile car, and it's looking pretty cheeky to my eye. I could run it.- Cadillac LYRIQ Reveal Coming

I can understand the flush handles WRT aerodynamics (where apparently every 0.0001% is worthy of pursuit)... but what's laughable to me is the actual operation. 1. you push the handle inward (Model S) 2. you pull your hand back 3. the handle extends 4. you extend your hand, grip the handle, pull the handle and pull the door open. The door would already be open at step 2 for any other vehicle. One of the hallmarks of 'Luxury' is LESS effort, not more. That's where the 'gimmickry' comes in.- Cadillac LYRIQ Reveal Coming
