  1. MBs are the worst value out there- with the highest ATPs they cost their owners more in depreciation than any other make.
  2. The 'starts' 2.0T CT6s were only built in a very small volume run for those that want that configuration. The CT6 on average is stickering at $68-70K, and yes; that's expensive.
  3. The rear overhang on the 2-sr sedan doesn't show well in that pic- it's pretty huge and I'd bet within a half inch of the 4-dr. I looked into buying one- a black w/ red interior '61 LeSabre 2-dr sedan but I didn't pull the trigger over the price. blu - They look very good, but the 'bubble top' 2-dr hardtop is infinitely sexier.
  4. They can make each car have a dozen variants under the same model name, but people actually have to BUY them. Feb A8 sales were 242 cars, A7 was 474. 2 'models' = 700 units. Yikes.
  5. Right; but they have to ship it, certify/crash test it, market-comply it, distribute it, stock parts for it, advertise for it.
  6. No- coachbuilt purposely as a wagon. Standard wheelbase, standard height roof. Hearses almost always were on extended wheelbase commercial chassis'. Here, rear door is stretched (and suicided), and there's still a foot of space between it & the rear wheelwell ~
  7. They did (as a coupe- not a hardtop) ~ Also had these (as a 2-dr sedan, not hardtop). They don't work IMO- it's like trying to 'sedan-up' a 2-dr; they're stodgy ~
  8. Hey. That dorsal fin with this greenhouse would have been an ICON (and there was a full-size clay with both) ~
  9. ^ [* only redeemable at the Pittsburgh Cheers & Gears Gift Shoppe'] ;) I don't have any to list here but wanted to add - that compilation of Dodge Brothers commercials (perhaps unsurprisingly; being it's me) may be the best auto commercials EVAR. EVER. And I just watched a trio of the Harley Earl/Buick commercials- I didn't find them inspirational or even really that cohesive of a message. And of course I wanted to like them. Long running ads with celebrities always felt like a huge net negative. Tiger Woods/Buick - don't believe or care. Dick Van Patton & Olds was a desirability KILLER, IMO. A celebrity's paid endorsement rings more hollow than a 'real people's.
  10. A8 doesn't 'sell like crap'....; "no one buys it". Go ahead - say it. You'd be closer to the truth than usual.
  11. Cadillac built the entire year's supply of 2.0Ts over the first few months of the model year- the vast majority are 6-piston. But if "no one" buys the CT6, who's buying the A7/A8 or 7-series- both of which get handily outsold by the CT6. In fact, without looking it up, I believe the CT6 sold just under 10K in the US last year, and the s-class was at about 12K. Is "no one buying the s-class" too???? You gotta drop the obvious nonsense/hyperbole. You can have conversations with people from a factual, reality-based world, you know.
  12. Easy there, big fella! That's the overall length, not the wheelbase. WB was 151" in '75-76. Series 75 was the (factory built) formal sedan / limousine. - - - - - New client today has a brand new 740. I would say 'I don't want to know a person that would consider a smell cartridge 'important' for their vehicle', tho this woman seems nice so far. If I get on friendly enough terms, I'll ask about the 7series, you hardly see them anymore, esp since BMW has placed all their future stock in their high volume, downmarket lines.
  13. Platform may be shared, but that doesn't mean the car makes a profit. I doubt it does with those minuscule sales. No doubt the TT will get chopped, I think the 8/7 is not far behind... at least the a7.
  14. whatcha squintin at? - - - - -
  15. Wife & I just had a difference of opinion, so I thought I'd ask here. I won't say which side of the question I was on. If a man was to say to a woman "You're a lot to visually process"... would that be considered offensive, or just 'neutral'?
  16. Gorgeous limited-production '54 'E' ~
  17. I would agree with those, and add the 1912 Cadillac, which introduced electric lights / starter.
  18. '63 Merc S-55 ~
  19. Why I've always said mercedes really wasn't successful/competitive in this country until sometime in the '90s (but not the early '90s) ~
  20. Would it be fair to say the Escala has inspired all these razor-slit headlight clusters, or is another vehicle a more likely catalyst? I've kinda liked the soul's styling all along...
