My F-150 was in great shape, until it drove thru salt water. Undercarriage rusted quickly and I had to JBWeld the oil pan in one spot (worked great).

No no no!, Cadillac is NOT looking to go full-bore, full-line mainstream! I've told you this countless times; that's not where they're heading. Get it out of your head already. '5 crossovers'?? Holy hell; no.

You were comparing Malibu to Corvette, now your bringing Cadillac into it. Try and stay on point for once.

When in the last 50 years has Cadillac had more HP than Chevrolet, never mind higher performance? 1965 : Cadillac ~ 340, Chevy ~ 375 1975 : Cadillac ~ 190, Chevy ~ 235 Gotta love these arbitrary mandates from out of nowhere...

Again: erroneous. You are saying all Chevy models should be in a tight price range, why??? Because; Buick? Irrelevant.

Valve actuation would be a point of contention if the current Corvette engine wasn't competitive. 460/465, 0-60: 3.8, 1/4-mile in 12.2. But it is. Or in other words, valve actuation is a moot point.

You're looking at the picture thru a corporate lense, not a brand lense. Think back when the collective of brands (under GM) all (except Cadillac) fielded 350-400 HP A-Body performance cars. That's where GM needs to go. In other words, properly identified & delineated, both Chevrolet & Cadillac can successfully field 650 HP (or whatever power level you want to mention) vehicles. If they "cannot", why have more than 1 brand??

• Cadillac has "sales volume", it just doesn't need 350,000 units here. There are numbers between 175K and 350K, you do realize. • Omega platform is proprietary Cadillac product, essential moving forward. Yep- costs money; good thing Cadillac is profitable. • Cadillac has "grown here", U.S. sales are up 60% since '09 (Canadian sales are up 159% in the same period). ((Ahhh; percentages…. the internet saber rattle!)) They need to bump back up over the 200K mark (the brand was there '02-07), then stay focused, because ATPS are in excellent standing.

Thought this was pretty cool. At an awesome auction the other weekend, one of the box lots I bought had about 8 or 9 manual hair trimmers in it (not why I bought the box). The oldest, rustiest pair also worked the most smoothly. I thought, how cool would it be if these were Brown & Sharpe's?' A minor bit of cleaning & the factory stamp was clear : 'Brown & Sharpe, Prov RI'. Last of the 3 patent dates was July 1885. Why is this cool? These were one of many devices that the Master of Precision worked on after starting at B&S in 1872. He designed horse clippers that were successfully marketed, then devised a 'human' set, which were also successfully marketed. Who is the Master of Precision? Henry Martyn Leland, the founder of Cadillac.

Kia News: Kia Plans On Launching GT Models Around the World
balthazar replied to William Maley's topic in Kia
Nooooo, plenty of 'regular' cars have been adorned with the 'GT' badge, but they've almost always had a performance heritage. Kia merely has a 'LCD' image. -
EVERY VEHICLE encompasses compromises. You have to pony up for the AMG option on the S-class to get CC brakes there. Non-AMG Ss don't have them. Is that a compromise, because there is (not yet) a CT6-V and what equipment it may have is totally unknown. Hell, the TTV8 isn't out yet. Cadillac NEVER needs to approach the mainstream production levels of MB. They were too high in the late '70s, Cadillac's traditional volume level is the low 200s in the last 50 yrs. That's where they should level off at; 200-250K in the U.S.

How much are Tesla's revenue numbers bolstered by deposits for cars not remotely in production yet? When those cars are produced/sold, their revenue per unit there is automatically $1000 less… that's $400 million less over however many quarters it will take to produce 400K Model #3s.

• MB has pushed so hard for volume that their product in the U.S. has become commonplace & ubitquitous; not hallmarks of a luxury item. Or at least they are around me. • The mention of their car sales sliding heavily was a dig directly at you, SMK; glad you caught it. - - - - - Does anyone know if public releases of monthly sales is legal requirement? They have to be reported I believe, but to whom??

Not if they're not the "NUMBA1 ALLTIME SALES KING!!" IE: the CAMRY. Nah; now everybody's on the 'global' bandwagon, and just like Mercedes massive fleet & livery sales in Germany (not to mention all the commercial trucks & vans) doesn't bother those that buy the high end models, consumers at large have zero interest in how many are sold in the segment vs. competitors. And while it may at first seem like those are contradictory answers, my point is trumpeting that you sell thousands & thousand more than anyone else in the segment is not befitting of a true luxury brand, but then again; Mercedes has chosen to forsake that in the name of volume. IOW; it's not a reason to buy a luxury product, esp when it gets to be at the level of mainstream. But there's acres & acres of space between Cadillac's sales levels & Mercedes. The consumer doesn't care about actual numbers relative to other brands… but "BIGGEST MONTH EVAH", repeatedly, smacks of hucksterism. General Motors should stop reporting monthly Cadillac sales and only issue annual… tho I suspect that's some sort of federal mandate or the like.

Wow; every single car line down double-digits. S-class down 15%, that's a $150 million dollar hit right there. Better spin up more CUVs/SUVs.

"Officially Open" AP Reports for Tesla Gigafactory
balthazar replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
Escalade is known for being 'the Escalade'. Yes it happens to have always had a V8, but that's not the forefront characteristic, IMO. IOW; a full electric E, alongside the traditional E, would be just fine, IMO.- 32 replies
