Really like the split tailgate, and the hide-away bed sides (provided snow/ice conditions are worked out). More cubbies are always better. The flip-up 'rack bar' needs some sort of accompanying 'load bar' on the roof tho. The proportions are pretty good, 110" wheelbase is very short tho. Not sure what the potential market for something this small & utility-focused is.

I've seen numerous LEDs out on cars.

That ^ I would completely agree with. I don't think there's a single micro-entity in Gov that could not use a thorough going-over & streamlining. Also, a great quantity of Gov entities just need to be flushed. There was an analysis done a few years ago, and the result was that 22% (<-this I remember explicitly) of all federal programs either no longer have a reason to exist, or have no measurable effect either way.

There was at least 1 factory-built '64 Grand Prix convertible (still exists), even the data plate was stamped 2967 (29: Series 29 GP, 67: convertible).

>>"The assumption for this law is; if you are brown and speak spanglish, you are assumed to be here illegally. "<< This is your assumption, correct? It's certainly not mine. There is nothing in the law that addresses race, EXCEPT to state that race cannot be the sole factor in pulling a motorist over. OK, since we've established the law itself is not racist; as soon as you dismiss the language of the law and assume the future actions of the police, you are assigning behavior to people you have no knowledge of, people who have been trained to follow publicaly-available protocol... and you are assuming racial motivation on their part. There are FAR more criteria and details involved in assessing a person than just skin color, and police are specifically & exhaustively trained in these ways. >>"Do you really think, if he were caught speeding in AZ while missing his papers, that he would be hauled into jail while his immigration status gets checked out?"<< I'm not willing to project any personal assumptions or impressions on police officers I have zero knowledge of. But technically speaking, if it came up that your boss was a Canadian citizen and was without papers, yes; the law allows him to be detained until his immigration status is verified. If he was without required papers, he is subject to a penalty. That's the law and therefore that's what should be done (if we are nationally who we claim we are). Do you advocate him being let go in said hypothetical without being verified & fined ?? There are 6.5M residents of AZ and 31% are Hispanic (LEGAL citizens). That's 2,015,000, plus an estimated 750,000 illegals. So REAL CLOSE to HALF of the state's people are hispanic/latino. Do you believe police are suddenly going to pull over HALF the states' population and demand papers because they are simply 'brown' ? The sheer volume of 'browns' in AZ forces the police to rely on far more than just skin color. But to assume the cops enforcing this are judgementally simplistic & outright racist is ridiculously unfair. Remember, just as is the case with the federal law, the touchstone is at the point of enforcement. The Fed does NOTHING, tho they have these same laws on their books. SB1070 has been completely neutered at this point, but what will happen at the point of contact still remains to be seen... not assumed. Since there is no evidence as to what will happen & the law has yet to be enacted in full, the reaction here is directed at the law itself... which is a restatement of federal law. It is still within the realm of possibilities that the State will effectively do what the Fed does: NOTHING.

It's easy to be unaware of the difficulties many many people have to endure in life.

Oldsmoboi ~ >>"Ok... how about we state it this way; The law itself is not racist, however it was written with racist motivation in order to enable racism."<< Go ahead and detail that by how the law is exactly written. Better yet, prove the motivation of those who wrote it. Do not overlook any other bills/laws that the same people that were behind SB1070 have been involved with, since motivation there has likely legitimized & legalized racism in those areas of law enforcement, too. Since all AZ's law does is enforce federal law, it is the federal law that has to be 'racially motivated to allow racism'. Why is NO ONE protesting that law, ESP including those in government who are so against the AZ re-statement ???? >>"THERE IS NO LAW IN THE U.S. THAT SAYS I MUST CARRY PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP WITH ME AT ALL TIMES! "<< ^ The above is correct, but allow me to remind you; you are a U.S. citizen. Non-citizen immigrants are mandated by federal law to carry proof of being legally permitted to be in the U.S. 24/7 : >>Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d) of this section. Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.<< Read it HERE, section (e). 24/7 proof of ID for non-citizens is ALREADY FEDERAL LAW. This is inarguable. Meh... details, indeed.

Funny Story from the local Hyundai dealer
balthazar replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
No wonder my local dealer is advertising "DOUBLE rebates, up to $6000 off !!!!!" -
Sheriff Joe didn't write the law. I was addressing the claim that the law is 'racist'. Sheriff Joe may or may not be, I've not made him a case study, therefore I'm not going to 'not read the bill yet come out against him anyway'. Cops pull people over in every state every day for a seat belt check if they want to. Drivers are required to produce their paperwork or be detained until said paperwork is verified. Non-citizen immigrants are still required by federal law to carry their passports at all times. IMO, this is also not racist, because in neither federal nor AZ law does it single out a specific ethnicity, only on a basis of citizenry.

Rarity does not mandate value in every situation. 2bbl low-comp '68 Goat is not going to out-value the otherwise exact same 4bbl hi-comp.
-
There is a racist element in every single state of the U.S. and from every ethnicity in the U.S.. This, no one denies (well... some will deny that). BTW- AZ is very nearly one-third hispanic/latino (legal citizens). SB1070 however, has zero elements of racism in it- it is the fearmongers & illegal immigrant activists that are 'predicting' the way the law could be used that could be classified as 'racist'. We have elected & appointed officials coming out against the bill, then admitting under oath they haven't read it. Assuming they've subsequently read it, one wonders why they are not then advocating the repeal of the federal laws that SB1070 upholds, and declaring those laws as 'racist'... but they aren't. Because for them, it's not about the law at all- it's about power & politics.

^ You two (Nick, CSpec) aren't having the same discussion... or at least not on the same terms. 'unemployed legal citizens' are quite frequently also immigrants. Advocating jobs for legal citizens isn't specifically nor remotely 'against immigration in general'.
-
So.... the ENTIRE STATE of Arizona is racist ?? Wow, wonder how none of us have heard of that 'fact' up until a few years ago at best, and AZ being a state for just about 100 years now, too.
-
A 350 is only 7/8ths of a 400. I'm certainly not about downgrades in the power department. Talk to me about upgrades.

I looked at a '68 'economy 400' GTO coupe once. Interesting thing was, it had the hole for the optional hood tach, too. REALLY weird idea (2bbl GTO), IMO.
-
Even my B-59 has door detents (2 I believe), but I'd not be surprised if manufacturer(s) cheaped out on this incredibly simple feature (certianly would not expect it of Cadillac tho). Only thing I've owned without them is my '40 Ford- I wouldn't even think to think about them.
-
I have to believe in it's primarily a reflection of the general efficiency of the Fed, or obvious lack thereof.
-
It is, but that is NO EXCUSE to 'sneak in the back door of the theatre to avoid the wait/ticket price' (per Nick's analogy).

>>"There were no arbitrary numerical restrictions. "<< We went over this before. There WERE restrictions (no chinese allowed), then there were more with the Immigration Act of 1917, more still with the 1921 Emergency Quota Act, more still with the Immigration Restriction Act of 1921, and more still with the Immigration Act of 1924. You are seemingly trying to paint a picture that EVERY SINGLE PERSON was welcomed in until Ellis Island closed, and only NOW is the "evil racist White man" trying to keep ILLEGAL immigrants out (yet at the same time, ERWM has not made a single peep about legal immigrants).

GM wouldn't sell the '63 X-400 because Styling turned it into the '64 X-400. A real shame IMO because the '63 was easily one of the most red frickin' hot cars ever built (even if it was yellow). The '64 X-400 in AZ has been "found" since at least 1985, and has been 'undergoing restoration' ever since. Unfortunately, that car was retro-fitted with a production '64 GP nose, instead of the '66-esque '64 X-400 nose. hyper- trying to recall the Judge take-off, the "Jury" cars... what they consisted of & how many were built (if known). Don't make me page thru 20 years of Smoke Signals to find it, please....

In AZ, it's referred to as 'doing the federal government's job because they won't.'

^ Standard RACIAL corporate procedure, you mean.

Don't you hate being racially profiled, Cubitar ?? Makes me itch.
