Case in Point that Bean Counters and Scroogie Middlemen still exist and decide in Lutz era. A W-body with OHV V-6 and 4-speed automatic transmission. What an oxymoron for a vehicle that is 50 years old. If they would have resurrected the last RWD Impala even without any changes just to make this commemerative edition it would have still ended up as a collectible even now.

That Purple color looks amazing in real life photos. Take some more during the day time. Good luck with your new ride. I always have had a soft spot for the Equi/Torri. People unnecessarily make them a punching bag. They are decent vehicles.

Did matter that GM came late to the SUV party? Because at this time GM owns about 60% of the Big SUV market share. Now that very claim seems full of hypocricy. GM has been blatantly blamed for making Americans drive the big SUVs yet now the media claims that they were late to the party!!!

Camino Well said. The Ultra would have found home in not more than 25-30k cars annually. Unless Caddy would have decided to put in the 'slade or GM decided to put them in Buicks. There is no point in investing money in just one powerplant which would have been against GM's new philosophy of making everything at core universal and then subtly varying in the brands.

Well said Reg. This is a stop gap before the new Astra bows out in 2009 show circuit (May be even Frankfurt 2008). We will see the new astra in US in 2009/2010 by that time this should parry of lack of small car attack on Saturn.
