  1. That's awfully hard to say at this point until we know more about Alpha. The wagon, Ute, and Caprice would all be an issue if the Park Ave is, wouldn't they?
  2. Well, the 355s are on their way out in any case. I suspect that they will not get a direct replacement, but I also suspect that El Camino will not be given that role. At least not by itself.
  3. What you say is largely true, Ocn. And, if a new one is sourced from Holden, almost entirely true due to production constraints. But fleet service is certainly part of the El Camino's heritage - many small businesses used them for years. If that market were part of the business plan for a new one, it would defintely have to be built locally with much more capacity and some less-equipped trims.
  4. I have nothing against Alpha, quite to the contrary, I think it will be an excellent platform for some great cars. Moreover, I think it is tailor-made for Camaro. I just like the size of the Zeta cars better - it is the size car I am most at home with.
  5. One last serious candidate from me, the Holden Coupe 60. This is the next-gen GTO we should have had. The strength of the lineup that included this as well as the sportwagon and Ute would have made the G8 family so much more powerful in the market. For once, a single model with various bodystyles would have illustrated just how to leverage an architecture to greatest effect. Opportunity lost.
  6. Completely unrealistic for production, but so cool I just had to post this pic. I love this thing!
  7. You know, even if we lose cars of this size and configuration forever, GM needs to cash-in on the demand for them while it can. Our choices may suck tomorrow, but they need not suck today.
  8. OK, all done now. All of my nominees have supporting text.
  9. My preference would be to see it happen on Zeta as well, that platform is still too good to waste. A migration to Alpha later I'm not so thrilled by, because I find Zeta to be perfectly sized.
  10. To do that right, more production capacity would be needed (Oshawa?). That is something that should have been done many years ago.
  11. I just don't feel safe getting my hopes up again - at least not yet.
  12. I'm headed out tonight, but I'll make the case for my nominees that haven't yet been championed by anyone else sometime tomorrow. Unless someone else would like to do it.
  13. Well, a decade late is better than not at all. We shall see.
  14. Clean examples are hovering near the 100k mark these days.
  15. El Caminos have a long history of being used that way.
  16. I think I'd like to get this pic blown-up and framed. Anyone know if it makes a difference if I use the original photo or a digital image?
  17. When I bought my '87 El Camino SS, the dealer had a GNX in the showroom behind velvet ropes. They wanted 50k for it.
  18. Insanely slow to do something they've already done all of the groundwork for, but I'm not going to complain too much if it happens. Besides, as ugly as things are for me right now it may be 2015 before I am ready anyway. My greatest concern is that this will be some downsized, V6-only, automatic-only, shadow of what they now build. Thanks for the update, PCS.
  19. Yup, a Chester County farmhouse in a Chester County winter.
  20. In fact, we are very lean on category 2 nominees. Only the G6 and the '55 EB fill that slot. What else didn't translate well from concept to production? EDIT: The Chrysler 200 seems to fit here as well.
  21. Been thinking it over, and I think Balthazar's Caddy nominee qualifies for category 2.
  22. I think you have it right, Z. I just remember thinking "better, but not quite there" when they made the changes.
  23. The horse actually enjoys itself, it's keeping them locked up in a stall that they don't care for. Love it!
