  1. Pretty weak sauce, that, But I'll give you the credit for finding one small positive ( though I'd rather see an actual post).
  2. Correct on my usage count - and I regret using it. Much as is usually done, I did it without thought. I shouldn't have done that, and later realized that it was a mistake. Therefore my policy has been not to use it at all. I have to ask again: where is the value in this?
  3. Well, it was a serious discussion from the start - as intended. I have yet to see a defense of this system that indicates an upside. I think I have enumerated the strikes against it, and determined that I am not alone in my thinking. But, by all means, counter the argument if you can. But serious I intend to remain in this thread.
  4. Nothing is to say that you won't do both. However, the value of clapping and jeering during a debate is dubious at best. Most often, it is used in a nasty and mean-spirited fashion - and it has no upside.
  5. That's a sloppy characterization, Croc. And it certainly embodies the sort of uncivil conduct I'm talking about.
  6. Exactly my point - we should try to be better than that.
  7. I don't want a Cadillac, nor any other luxury car.
  8. Pretty intense! I rarely remember my dreams - and that is a very good thing judging by the few that I do.
  9. The ratings system engenders a negative and combative tone that detracts from the site in my opinion. I believe that C&G is here for discussion and debate, not argument and animosity. Obviously, some think otherwise. Will it impact the way I conduct myself here? No, not really, but I do see it as a net minus for the site. Taking issue with another poster's position or words can certainly be a positive and beneficial contibution to the discourse here. But only if done a some measure of clarity and skill... and courtesy. The point system is a cudgel where a scalpel is required. Such a system is both crutch and weapon when employed by the immature and those given to a tribe mentality.
  10. If holden goes FWD, then all is well and truly lost. Damn anyone who pushes this idea!
  11. Welcome!
  12. When I first saw the Audi, I thought it was a chop of a Camaro and a Crossfire. I'm really not wowed by the Charger concept.
  13. I'd just as soon toss it as excess baggage.
  14. Well, it would seem that my point is bolstered by this very thread.
  15. Do you use it? Do you like it? I don't, and I don't. I think it robs some discussions of a bit of civility, makes things combative, and so on.
  16. It will not be the controller - the car is too new for that. The HVAC systems on car from the era are almost entirely electronically controlled. Even the actuators are electric. Follow the sound, and find the leak that way.
  17. I reject the "dead brand" rule, the cars could come back under another brand/nameplate.
  18. I have to drive them from time to time - the only one that ever really impressed me was a mid-nineties Bonneville. It was extremely well-behaved and balanced. I find most FWDs to be very twitchy.
  19. Sorry if I scared you off, but I was unimpressed. I really expected it to be much better.
  20. I was in mid-repair on the Tahoe and needed to run out for a serpentine belt, so I borrowed the Taurus.
  21. When I saw the thread title, I expected to see scantily-clad women draped over Monte Carlos. My Vette is at my mother's place and my nephews are often there. When I went over to mess with it the other day, my nephew had placed a 1/64th scale C3 on the steering wheel hub for me to find. Got a laugh out of that. Unfortunately, the model car fell into a defroster vent - I'll have to remember to extract it when the time comes.
  22. People accepting it as the norm is the most ominous part of all.
