  1. Boxster is a non-starter, I hate it. Cayman amazes me because that roof turned a sow's ear into a silk purse.
  2. Thing is, it would have to happen more than a year ahead of when I had planned to take the new car plunge - so I don't see that happening either. By the time I'd be comfortable doing it, they'll be long gone. But used might be an option. I would not even consider such a thing if I hadn't spent so much wheel time in an M5.
  3. You're a quick study, DF.
  4. I do have one confession to make. Because of what has happened, I have briefly considered relaxing one of my requirements.
  5. That, is one glowing review!
  6. Maybe I'll just burn the letter instead.
  7. Nicely played, Z, nicely played.
  8. I dunno. I've only been really tempted by a Porsche once. I won't say no immediately though.
  9. Tried. Couldn't even get through.
  10. So, does anyone actually see anything coming out that will get my attention again? I just don't see GM making it happen. I might need a truck in the 2015-2020 time frame, but that's about it.
  11. I might call just to see what they say.
  12. Today was his first day.
  13. Actually, as I said before, only 901 Formulas were built in 2002 (including Formula Firehawks). The Camaro doesn't have a factory package that floats my boat yet. And they will be everywhere. The Challenger fits the bill better from the start on that front. Any SMS,SLP, etc. Camaro won't be an RPO car, so I'm less interested.
  14. Oh, I already have that held in reserve. :AH-HA_wink:
  15. I'm not touching that rock, it belongs to GM.
  16. I can actually be quite diplomatic, if the spirit moves me.
  17. Well, old Sue did send me a letter after all. Maybe I should give her a call?!!
  18. Interesting.
  19. The answer is no, because renting/selling to, and supplying a foreign competitor of a Japanese Corp. will get you drummed out of town. The obstacles are in every facet of doing business there.
  20. That line of thinking crosses into bad territory. It also ignores what Japan is today quite completely. WWII is not a valid aspect of this issue, except to say that shortly after its conclusion we should have had trade ironed out a bit better.
  21. I'm sure you know by now that socialism is deeply offensive to my thinking. :AH-HA_wink: Thing is, I see globalism as a more insidious form of the same thing.
  22. Not sure exactly what you are asking here given the wording. But if I interpret it correctly, I would respond that only the realities on the ground are pertinent. That is, both the letter, and the spirit, of the agreement would have to be enforced to consider the playing field level. No bogus "inspections" at the ports, no refusal to rent/sell property to US companies, and so on. In short, no cheating!
  23. I honestly hope that this crisis sets globalism back several decades. I have no interest in living in a lowest-common-denominator world directed by a global hegemony.
  24. Not really. The time to have dealt with these issues was decades ago. The unfair trade practices should never have been overlooked in the first place. The level playing field should have been the guiding policy from the start. What to do now is another topic entirely.
  25. No, but we should be self-sufficient instead of self-sabotaging. And we should have demanded equal access to their markets. And we should not have given them tax breaks to set up shop here. And we should not have tolerated their monetary policy. And we should not have tolerated their product dumping. And so on, and so on.
