  1. Going AFK for just a bit - have to walk Arkus and hook up my snowplow. Keep the ideas coming!
  2. I guess I am. I have a thing for philosophical thinking.
  3. This post edges much closer to my thinking. A main tenet of the idea is the need to look within.
  4. Your post (and Longtooth's) are giving me a good reference point to work from as to the traditional definition of isolationist thought. That helps quite a bit as I think about how to differentiate my idea from that traditional theme.
  5. Good point. I'll have to consider a fix for that as well.
  6. It occurs to me that even if Obama's agenda meets with success across the board, that success would just leave us with a more stable version of the same country we've all been dissatisfied with for years. In other words, his plans have "getting things back to normal" as a goal, and I'm beginning to question the value of "normal".
  7. My notion of finding a new way forward doesn't include blatant stupidity. Absolutes are never adequate answers.
  8. Not in the way I'm thinking of it. I'm not merely thinking about international trade here.
  9. I can think of instances where saying just that could have saved us untold troubles. Same goes for this one: Not our business.
  10. At this point it is less an argument than a vagrant thought of another way forward in a changing world. The seed is there, but it hasn't germinated into a solid position just yet. I think it might lead to a re-definition of exactly what isolationism really means, but I have to chew on it a bit longer.
  11. I'm starting to see some appeal to the concept. Discuss.
  12. OK, I'll give you that. I guess it's just that when I think T-bird it's not this one. I like both earlier and later examples much better.
  13. We just gave all of my dad's old surf fishing gear to my uncle. I just don't do oceans.
  14. This might be a good thing for all concerned.
  15. No way. If produced today, it would still raise the bar for the entire luxury segment.
  16. Possible caption? "A scene from out of The Grapes of Wrath" Hey 68, have you seen the little pre-war sportscar in my "race shop" thread?
  17. I'm wondering when and where I'll make my first "in the wild" sighting. Good story.
  18. True. But this is not one of the most loved of Thunderbird generations. It's huge, and with the continental kit the rear overhang is about 6 feet!
  19. I'll get some better pics, but I doubt that it will help.
  20. I bet no one can identitfy the little black car on the middle lift!
  21. Yes and no. It's a part time gig. I took care of these cars a few years back, and have been brought back in to get them ready for the season.
  22. Really? It's such a boat!
  23. It's a '63 122S with the B18 engine and a manual. The son of my Old boss (new boss?) restored it back when I managed their old estate. He was a kid then, now he's the hot shoe of the race team.
  24. I've been spending much of my time this month in this shop wrenching on these cars. Today I was working on the red and white car and cleaning it up as I go. All of the wheelwell areas and engine compartment was as nasty as the driver's side of the compartment still is. Healeys are leaky little buggers. By Wednesday, this car has to be back on its wheels.
